Around the same time Democrats sold out to the banks. Who cares about the wealth gap or inflation when JP Morgan and friends wave a gay flag once a year?
DeSantis is vengeful and anti-business. He simply wanted to enhance his chances in the primaries. Taking on Disney is bad for the Floridian tax payers and simply costs a lot of money and time for both sides. Florida has more important issues than DeSantis‘ vendetta
You'd have to be off your rocker to look at this mess DeSantis created and think that: "he is someone who is willing to take on corporations". This Disney situation makes DeSantis look extremely thin-skinned and someone that needs to stay FAR AWAY from the White House.

Florida NEEDS Disney far more than Disney needs Florida. Governor Desantis poo-pooed Disney filing it's Lawsuits in Federal Court. Surely a Harvard Law School Grad should know that lawsuits pertaining to claims of violations to the US Constitution must go through the Federal Court System because this type of case is out of the jurisdiction of State Courts. And the reason Governor Desantis filed his Countersuit in Florida State Courts is because he owns the Florida Judiciary - all the way up to the Florida Supreme Court. Both cases will make their way to SCOTUS where Disney will prevail. In the meantime, the petty little man, his spineless Minions in Tallahassee and his personally selected inept Board of the formerly named Reedy Creek Improvement District will create as much misery for Disney as they can muster. The misery they create - shutting down the Walt Disney World Monorail System for "desperately needed State inspections", closing down Walt Disney World's most popular Attractions at peak Park hours, etc., will in reality create misery for the tens and tens of thousands (on any given day) Guests at the Walt Disney World Resort. And when Guests perceive that their long awaited visits to Walt Disney World have been ruined, it will NOT be Disney who is blamed. And as to Governor Desantis's aspirations for Political Greatness, he's pretty much flushed that down the proverbial toilet. All. By. Himself.
The thing is, no one was "teaching" gender or sexuality. That law was put in place to intimidate, harass, and force lgbt youth, lgbt families, lgbt teachers into the closet. The language was just vague enough to allow for creating a hostile environment for lgbt people.
100%. It’s vague enough to allow for plausible deniability that they’re just trying to ‘help the children’. It’s fine to care about what is being taught in schools to make sure it’s age appropriate - but the hyper focus on lgbt makes it clear what their real motive is
I don't understand what is so hard for you all to understand. They call the act of simply asking a kid what their pronoun is "teaching gender" and they call a teacher making mention of his husband "teaching sexuality". And, there are lgbt people in history, how can they accurately teach history? Lgbt people have been erased before by calling them "roomates" or "very good friends", stop framing lgbt youth and lgbt parents and lgbt teachers as people who should only exist in the dark.
It’s funny cause when you ask for evidence of cases in Florida justifying the bill, and the examples seem to be ONLINE teachers with no verification of working in Florida not following a curriculum, or books not even affected by the laws. What you do have is ambiguous language that allows parents to complain about something they subjectively disagree with, which puts teachers at risk of penalty over something that’s not even verifiably restricted in the law. “Age appropriateness” isn’t objective in most cases. Surprisingly there’s lots of people who don’t know that 5 year olds touch themselves. And when there were controversy over an animated video shown to kindergartners informing them what they were doing regarding stimulating their privates, not to touch them in public, and to not let adults touch them there, people were outraged over “teaching them masturbation”, despite that actually being something that’s naturally observed for that level of development in youth. I get protecting kids is important, but some are treating this like a witch hunt solely based on what they personally consider appropriate or not. And there’s a difference in making kids aware of their actions when it’s literally relevant and natural for that action to happen, and actual child abuse. Kids are naive, but they’re not incapable of comprehending literally anything. Also, “uncomfortable” topics aren’t age inappropriate merely because they cause emotional discomfort.

All.

The thing is, no one was "teaching" gender or sexuality. That law was put in place to intimidate, harass, and force lgbt youth, lgbt families, lgbt teachers into the closet. The language was just vague enough to allow for creating a hostile environment for lgbt people.
so what you are saying is:
lgbt people didn't violate this law before it existed.
law gets passed
lgbt people now struggle to abide by this law.
The law passed says that you cannot teach sexuality to kids under eight. Why do you want to teach sexuality the kids under eight?
