The story - shared by Prince himself in an mtv interview - was that Prince's father took him to a James Brown concert. It was Prince's father who lifted him onto the stage. When he was taken backstage, he saw the "most incredible dancing girls I'd ever seen in my life".

Yes Prince did say that. But in all my years of knowing Prince, he never left well enough alone. He never let the mundane details of a story sell the story. HE gave u the story the way U wanted to hear it. I have no doubt that he saw James Brown. I KNOW that he played on stage with James Brown, Chick lifted him up on the stage. At 5 yrs old, its very VERY believable that his mom brought him to see his dad rehearsing. His dad was a performer in strip bars, hence the gorgeous girls around him at rehearsal. So, THIS version of the story is very likely the truth of the Passion Point Bloom was looking for. Raw and real, but not newsworthy as being told by Prince. Prince would produce moments that defied imagination from stitching together various truths. Chick became his dad. His dad's rehearsal became blurred into the James Brown performance. But note the ONE detail that remains untouched: THE GIRLS. They are an unembellished detail in Prince's mind. James Brown had no gorgeous women around him at that performance. But the ones Prince WANTED to be there were in his head captured from that moment of seeing his dad rehearsing. See, Prince cobbled an ideal reality for himself from the mundane details of various experiences. Thats what a person does who has been raised with trauma. Reality is too painful, so u create ur own if u have the imagination for it. Prince had the power to make Surreality come to life. Cuz he was already living it in his mind.

“Music is an exchange of human souls. It is a soul exchange”.
Thank you. This is precisely what it is for me, which is why I gravitate towards the music and artists that I gravitate to. It’s a chance to connect with somewhat likeminded souls, something that is extremely rare for me otherwise.

Great video Mr. Bloom! Prince influenced my own guitar playing, songwriting and singing. "Purple Rain" for me is the most powerful, soul-stirring song ever written! It moves me every single time I hear it and I've been listening since it dropped 35 yrs ago! Thanks for the insight, very captivating! Rock on!🤘

My son was 3 years old when the song, "Purple Rain" came out. And he would walk around the house singing, "Pupa wain, Pupa wain!!"

thanks for sharing this about Prince. I grew up listening to all sorts of lead guitarists and had not been too impressed with Prince because his guitar licks seemed too short. The 3-minute song was OVER in my mind due to Pink Floyd, The Who, many Blues artists, and so on. Yet Prince seemed to just have a performance that was too concise for me. But then, after Purple Rain, he clearly had everyone's attention. Some of his stuff is fantastic. I don't like it all, but I like enough of it to know that you are correct. He was a superstar.

Prince was a crazy gifted musician but MJ was above. No Prince album reaches the quality of Thriller, Bad or Dangerous. But the true reason why Michael Jackson was greater than Prince is that the most important quality of an artist is his sensitivity to great life principles (love, wisdom, justice, ...), and MJ was more sensitive to those things than Prince. We have a proof when we remember Heal the world, Man in the mirror, Earth song,... So Prince was great but MJ was more amazing.

    • @ianrobinson8878

Nonsense. Prince was a brilliant musician. MJ was a singer and dancer, exceptional, yes, but that's where it ended.

@fornlike the value of dancing ? Yes, I enjoy watching an entertainer dance. You're not getting the point. Prince did so many things incredibly well. His guitar playing was world class. He did everything. He didn't need Quincy to create the music. Jackson repeated himself through his albums. His peak was "off the wall". After Thriller he just became strange and perhaps a pedophile. Its hard to listen to his music and disregard that.

prince had childhood PTSD really bad he exposes his secrets in the movie purple rain. hes highly intelligent and sensitive and hes quite talented. his appeal is his talent and his energy level are off the charts. hes also quite physically attractive and has tons of charisma. I think one of his main drives was his PTSD and anxiety. he used it to somehow power his incredible performances IMO. He's actually an amazing guitarist as guitarists go just a super talented guy. too bad narcissism and drugs finally got him and it was so sudden too. seems to be happening a lot lately with these personality types. You're apparently trying to take credit for his success. I think you might be high on some sort of intoxicant. everyone was paying attention prince was a spectacle. you can't take credit for the successes of others. what howard is describing is a dopamine rush caused by the social experience of modern pop music. its a manipulation of your reward pathway you seem so proud of your drug howard. using talented people to manipulate audiences for money is what howard is talking about. its a system its how pop music enslaves the masses. this is how rap/hiphop artists have enslaved the masses and created thug culture. its all in the stimulation of the reward pathway in the brain and its a form of manipulation. know this for what it is howard is a narcissist and wants to take credit and tell great stories that make him seem like superman and he knows what im telling you here but doesn't want you aware of it. this is narcissism folks take a close look. maybe howards ex-wife can provide more insight.

Your comment looks almost like a perfect square. Donald Trump would have a bad day if he ever saw your comment, because it is a more perfect wall than he is ever going to build.
That being said, a few thoughts: It seems like there are a lot of great musicians who have serious anxiety, I didn't notice any part of this video where Howard was taking any credit for anything, narcissists almost always openly identify as narcissists, and the music industry isn't as evil as it appears you believe it is.

    • @truescotsman4103

@@davidm6387 Howard's bragging and name dropping that's what gives him away. I've watched multiple videos where he rattles off the names of eight or 10 pop stars that he's worked with in the past. Successful people that are effective and highly intelligent don't need to brag and drop names constantly. I didn't say the music industry was evil it's just populated with a bunch of narcissistic assholes and emotionally weak individuals. The businessman are the narcissistic assholes and the emotionally weak individuals are the artists and when you put the two together the artists become narcissistic and disintegrate. Most artistic people can't handle money and fame and most businessmen don't care about it all they want is money. Howard is an interesting person my jury is still out on him he's fascinating.
