Mazurka Opus 6 No 3 in E major, Frédéric Chopin', Pianist George Darden (1943 - 2014)

In 2012 my friend George Darden ( asked me and Jane Matheny to record the complete Chopin Mazurkas before he lost facility and passed from a terminal illness. Jane and I traveled from Tallahassee to his mountain top home in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina to make the recordings. I am not a music recording engineer, but with the guidance of my friend Pete Winter I made the recordings and mastered them for a limited CD run. What an honor to be involved in this project. This is just one of the Mazurkas on the two CD set titled "Walking to Chopin." This was a non-commercial passion project for George and I want to share this piece in his honor. I was just searching for him on YT this evening. I worked with him as an undergrad and he was a very powerful influence on me as a singer. His knowledge and integrity for the music were top notch and he gave much to the younger generation of musicians. The energy and passion he imbued in his playing always brings joy to my heart. Thank you for sharing this wonderful music played by such a remarkably talented man! May he look down with a smile, knowing he made an impact.
