You did a good job! I have a few tips to help you that I've gathered over the years. I'd take the large bolts out of the engine side covers before you repaint the covers, wire wheel the bolts, and then reinstall them. It makes your work look better. Don't reuse removed bearings if you can help it. Removing them damages them. When you install bearings, it helps if you freeze them for a while, and heat up the case they are going into. Usually, they fall right in, and that doesn't stress the case or bearing. If they don't go right in, gently hammer them in on the outer race of the bearing. Using the same technique, assemble everything but the crank into the center cases. Put the crank in the freezer for a while. Heat both the crank bearings after they are in the cases, and install the crank and the other case half on the first case half before the crank loses it's cool, and the bearings lose it's heat. Hammering on the crank could wreck it's trueness. I like to put loctite on the kick starter pawl screws, shift drum bearing retainer screws, shift star bolt, shift star stopper bolt, stator screws, and neutral switch screws, to keep them from falling out. Put oil on every part that slides or rotates as you assemble. I like to replace clips and bend-over tabs when I assemble an engine. I've seen used ones fail, and cause massive damage! Did you size your new rings for your new bore? For a naturally asperated engine, 0.004 inches of clearance per inch of bore, or 0.1mm per 25.4mm of bore is good. You didn't put a used oil filter in there, did you? Is there any reason you didn't repaint the oil filter cover? Hope this helped, and keep up the good work!

Why not wash the exterior of the engine first, before disassembly, using water and dish washing liquid? That would also be a lot safer for the surface finish compared to using a wire brush... And, only drive a bearing into the casing using a socket of the right size to ensure that you are applying force on the OUTER bearing race only. When you are striking on the inner race, the inner race takes the hit and has to transfer it to the bearing balls which in turn transfer it to the OUTER race. No reason to stress all of these items...

good work, but I have some ideas. Clean inside out not very clean, old parts ( the bearings,gears, etc..) are not replaced. yes, engine will run but not too long. this is a big time to do and we shoud take it seriously and carefully.
