In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old). Foreign participants were actually forbidden at that time. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home. This competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. "All By Myself" was the 9. song in the competition “The Singer 2017”. The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to UA-cam ... and so we became Dimash's Dears. The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. won). There are many amazing performances of this song. I truly think the best one is at the MTV awards but my personal favourite will always be from the New York concert where he has so much fun playing with the audience. He's dressed in black leather and jeans looking like a rock star and this incredible angelic voice is coming from his mouth.

I think the audience at Bastau had seen this Singer version, and were anticipating the big ending - so he played with their expectations in that performance.
Dimash was still working on his English at that time. His English is so much better now. He is a very hard working young man. Lovely person!! I think you should play his performances on the singer because that will give you a treat as to how he has developed over the years. I think that on the singer, he had some of his best performances; like Adagio, Dididau and tribute to MJ that he did a duet with Laure Shang. But if you do his performances in order by episodes then you will see all his performances on that show.

Interesting fact: in his lasts concerts, Zarina's is the voice in that solo in the middle of the song. Once in one of his concerts, during her solo, the audience was making noise. p.s. just a heads up, DQ does NOT use firework vocals for all songs. Just letting u know in advance as some reviewers, just a few, kind of complain when he doesn't. But I love all his vocals. What is so impressive, well just one of many things, about DQ is that he doesn't sing from ego, he sings from his heart; so he uses his voice as an instrument in the best way to serve the song, not to serve his ego. I just love that! I really love his quieter tender vocals just as much 💕
Yes, great comment James. It's so easy to get sucked up into the "what amazing 25 octave staccato growl is he going to do next", and i went through that phase too when i started with him. But very soon i realised he is just as beautiful, if not even more, in his subdue songs. In fact, his mid range is my favourite! It gives me the deepest sense of body tingling satisfaction, it goes straight under my skin and into my soul and it can last the whole song too so that's pretty cool, hahaha. I Love Qairan Elim for his mid range so much, and Qaragym-ai is actually my favourite song, for 2 years now.

I think you should play his performances on the singer because that will give you a treat as to how he has developed over the years. I think that on the singer, he had some of his best performances; like Adagio, Dididau and tribute to MJ that he did a duet with Laure Shang. We'll have to get you some behind the scenes videos - another excellent performance is SOS from EMIGALA in Dubai 2022- he took his grandmothers, donated his award to them and then sang SOS - he's in a white suit with black jewellery- his two favorite colors
Interesting fact: in his lasts concerts, Zarina's is the voice in that solo in the middle of the song. Once in one of his concerts, during her solo, the audience was making noise. Dimash gently made a sign and said: "it is a very important moment" so to guarantee that everybody would listen and respect her work. Yes, he is adorable! Hug from Brazil!

Dimash did this performance after 'Daybreak' (where he had been sick), because 'All by myself' was an easy one for him 😁 apparently :)
And later he performed this song on several occasions in 2017-2018, and the pause in the middle, before the freestyle runs, he used that as an opportunity to joke and tease the fans :)

They were both younger. Though she has a lovely voice, she decided to become a Medical Doctor. His younger brother, has become a music composer and has performed with Dimash just recently.
p.s. just a heads up, DQ does NOT use firework vocals for all songs. Just letting u know in advance as some reviewers, just a few, kind of complain when he doesn't. But I love all his vocals. What is so impressive, well just one of many things, about DQ is that he doesn't sing from ego, he sings from his heart; so he uses his voice as an instrument in the best way to serve the song, not to serve his ego. I just love that! I really love his quieter tender vocals just as much 💕
Absolutely true, his mid range songs are beautiful and just hypnotise you with that beautiful silky smooth tone.
Yes, great comment James. It's so easy to get sucked up into the "what amazing 25 octave staccato growl is he going to do next", and i went through that phase too when i started with him. But very soon i realised he is just as beautiful, if not even more, in his subdue songs. In fact, his mid range is my favourite! It gives me the deepest sense of body tingling satisfaction, it goes straight under my skin and into my soul and it can last the whole song too so that's pretty cool, hahaha. I Love Qairan Elim for his mid range so much, and Qaragym-ai is actually my favourite song, for 2 years now.
