One of my all_time faves for the Gap Band from that era. From a their last great album of the 80's. Charlie's add libbing was, and still is awe-inspiring for all vocalists. For me it was no exception. Never heard the PrimeTime version, but can't imagine it beat this oe. Thank you jimmy

This is another merchandising move by Lonnie Simmons of Total Experience Records where he has two acts on his lable record the same song. I think the GB version was used as filler. Prime Time got more mileage out of this song than The Gap Band. Plus the Prime Time version came out in 1984. This was released in 1986.
@Seany06 as i know, Prime Time had I Owe It To Myself earlier.. maybe this is just an exchange of experience, you know, or some kind of a natural selection law, because Gap Band had a solid reputation that days. i have nothing to say about Prime Time, they are really good, but Charlie's vocal sounds more tasty to me!
