@Last Chance I'm assuming she knows that, but is just blown away her parents let her go with him. I'm really frustrated they did too.. Although, there was never a time when you could do that, there was definitely a time when people got into stranger's vehicles. I grew up in the same time as Kelly. No way in hell my mom would have let me get into a stranger's car. What the heck was the mom thinking. You just can't do that. Very sad.
The mom was a bit suspiscous and made sure Kelly asked around if they knew a Bill Christensen. I grow up someone close to the area and that name is incredibly common so of course everyone would say yes, that they knew him. Kelly's mom even wanted to meet the guy before they drove off but Kelly assured her it was fine and to not be so paranoid. I am sure she regretted it until her last day and that truly breaks my heart. I would watch Crime Beat with Nancy Hixt. I’m don’t understand how her parents had her ask all her classmates if they knew the man, but when the man was right outside of their house they didn’t bother to simply go outside and see for themselves if they knew him. 😵💫
I bet the young woman who gave this "Bill Christianson" Kelly's phone number carries A LOT OF GUILT.... I know I personally would feel partly responsible. (Even tho there was NO WAY of her knowing this would happen)
She does! I listened to a podcast and she has tremendous guilt. She actually spoke in detail of how this has haunted her throughout the years. She was anonymous because she still lives in fear

Exactly. My parents met every adult I interacted with. They knew where I was at all, times and I grew up in the 80's and my neighborhood was safe. This isn't passing judgment, it is just common sense. This man was a stranger.
Wonder if “Bill” provided any info as far as an address for his residence. Even during that era I am surprised the parents wouldn’t have asked for an address for where Kelly would be. Also, was it possible to trace the phone calls Bill made to the girls. Did the autopsy provide an estimated time of death? Bill could have possibly held her captive for awhile before killing her and dumping her body in the lake. Such a tragic death that could have been prevented.
I know it was different times. I grew up in that time, Kelly is just a few years younger than me. There is no way in hell, that my mom would have let me get into a stranger's car, without meeting the person. The man pulled up to their house, why not just go outside to meet him. Takes just a minute. Unbelievable. So very sad. Poor Kelly, RIP. 🌻

Like just fast forward through the sponsors or find someone else to listen to for free…
I dont want to blame the parents..I know it was a different time and era but how could anyone let their child go babysit for a strange man that just randomly called their house that nobody knew anything about. Thats just...weird. 🤔
I have a 15 year old Daughter and I would never allow her to babysit for a stranger. Also why would the school give out personal information of a child?
I understand that things were done differently back then but I think its incredibly naive to believe that no bad things could ever happen. I just find it really bizarre to let your daughter go off with a stranger that you didn't even make the effort to talk to. Im sure they wish every day that they did things differently, and obviously the only person to blame for Kelly's death is her killer, its just frustrating hearing that things weren't handled differently.

What if Bill Christenson grew up in Standard or spent some time there in the past and hadn't been a local in a long time by 1981 ?? I think this could be likely especially since there were Christensons in the area but would someone have used their real last time or last name or a family member ? That's risking being connected fairly easily.. I assume all the Christenson's relatives were looked into but with police investigations I've learned to never assume even the most seemingly obvious things.. so that's where I'd look.. relatives (blood and non blood) of the local Christenson's (possibly having another last name) and who had spent time in Standard but wasn't a local by 1981.. I think the likelihood that the perp has some connection to Standard is very very high opposed to someone who picked the town by random with no connection to it whatsoever.. that's possible but IMO pretty unlikely.

Within hours of here and I've never heard of it. Unfortunate her parents didn't do their homework into who Bill was or tell her she had to decline. I'm sure they must have struggled with that after the fact.
He pulled this off perfectly. He had to have thought her parents would at least come out and meet him so he was probably in a disguise. And he probably had a stolen license plate on his car. There is no way he would have just known her parents wouldn’t check him out when he arrived or even said no we can take you so we know where you’re at or what’s the address.
Why would her mom even let her 15 year old daughter get in to his car I know this is years ago but am I letting my teenage daughter do that not a chance in hell I hope whoever did this they rott in hell and I send my prayers to Kelly's family and may she rest in peace 🙏

I’m from Alberta and this is a very well known case, this is a small small SMALL town! Hoping this is solved for her family’s sake. Great podcast called Crime Beat that covers this in great detail. Great job Savannah 😊☀️❤️
hey girl, none of your pictures uploaded onto the video. i'm sure you've noticed by now, it might be helpful to add them back in especially due to this being a cold case. Love the videos though!
I grew up in a very very small town and in the 80s I also babysat in the early 90s However my parents never let me babysit until they spoke to the family I was working for ! And on a few occasions my mom would stop in and make sure everything was okay ! No way they’d let me just go like that . So strange !
Either Savannah is right and there are TWO people involved, one local and one not local, or there is another explanation. The fact that he seemed to be so familiar with the local community and was using the last name of a family who was prominent in the community leads me to believe that perhaps the suspect had grown up in the community, was known by the locals but not well enough to be remembered over a period of time. Either his family or he himself moved away during his high school years, or shortly thereafter and he returned to the community years later when he was much older and his physical appearance had changed enough so that he was not recognizable to the locals. The reason I believe that he returned to the community when he was much older is because none of the locals seemed to know who he was, even though he himself seemed to know so much about the community itself.
27:55 I wonder if he grew up there or if he lived there as a child with his family for a few years. That would explain how he knew certain things but why no one recognized the sketch. He would know the area and the popularity of that last name, but if he left as a young teenager he might look very different later as an adult.
Even in 94-97 i would have dad's come and pick me up for babysitting jobs. Never thought it was weird getting in their cars because the moms were usually home finishing getting ready. Poor Kelly 😢
I can't imagine a time, circumstance, or occasion when anyone would allow their child (at any age) to get into a car with an unknown individual. The family may have lived in a small town, but how naive would you have to be to allow that to happen? Even hearing this now gives me a sickening feeling. Wouldn't you think common sense or gut instinct would come into play? Possibly the relative or friend of a local who disposed of Kelly’s body on his way back home, which was why he took extraordinary steps so her body would not be found.
Parents didn’t even ask the address, or a phone number… they didn’t even went outside to meet the stranger. I’m sorry but In my opinion It’s kinda neglecting your child’s security… we have to take exemple of this case i hope parents will find the peace
I know everyone uses the excuses of "it was a small town. These kinds of things never happened there" and "it was different at the time". But my grandparents who would be in their 90s if they were alive, were very careful with their two daughters. They would have never allowed their kids to babysit in a stranger's house. I will never understand why some people are so naive. Mean people has always existed. I also grew up in a small town and everything happens there, just not as often as in big cities. Plus, people also make a bigger effort to hide gruesome incidents. So, not everything goes public.
1981 or now it is extremely weird to let your daughter babysit for a random stranger who calls your house then not to go outside and meet this person???????
Hey savannah and welcome back with another incredible episode of killer instinct . it's quite unfortunate that she met her end , especially a brutal end at the hands of a sick individual(or individuals)😨
Idk what happened.. I was about 15 mins into this interesting case/video then it suddenly switched to the host pitching products. Not 1. Not 2. Like 3 or 4 infomercials, back to back.
There are sooo many red flags in this case. 1) how does this guy know the first girls name and why did the school just give it out?? 2) I understand that back then, parents were a little more naïve to stranger danger, but when a stranger calls your house and asks your daughter to babysit that night???
Not if “Bill” was a kid when he lived in Standard. Motive either a babysitter assaulted him and his sibling when younger or lost/ caused death of friend or child so revenge. Most likely sounds like babysitter allowed the child to go missing so “ Bill” made the babysitter go missing.
I remember this so well. I remember the missing posters very clearly! Kelly was 1 year older and Standard wasn't far from where I was living in 1981. I've been to the lake where her body was found. This whole sad story was very frightening. No way in hell would my parents have allowed me to go with someone they didn't know. Poor Kelly.
I want to know more about the phone call that was to the school by the Christensen guy. Didn't he tell the first girl that he got her name or her phone number from the school. I'd like to know if that was looked into and if the school really gave out a child's/first girls phone number to this man to call for babysitting. Because schools do not give out that information. I want to know if they really did get that phone number from the school have they talked to the person at the school who gave out the phone number. If he did not get it from the school then he had the first girl's phone number. That means he knew the first girl or got the number from the other person who's involved. I'm not sure but I would really like to know about that connection. Also I feel like the reason that she died it's maybe she fought them too hard I mean you said that was a two-and-a-half-hour drive. I wonder how long the body had been in the water. Maybe she gave them hell. And I didn't know what to do and so they killed her. You would think if this was trafficking or something like that they would have moved her quickly which it seems like they did because she was already two and a half hours away but we don't know how long the body was there.
Someone has GOT to go back through this video and count how many times she says the word "However"!! I've never heard anyone use the word "however" so much in my life!! *However*, I have heard other UA-camrs use their pet words non-stop in their videos... I guess "However" is hers.
Are you only doing true crime now? Are you okay? Something seems off and I miss your lifestyle videos where we could really see your personality and you as a person, hope everything is okay ❤️❤️
I watched this video after watching your video on Margaret Fox...and hear me out...this could very well be the same guy. Yes, two different geographical locations, but also two very different time frames. The guy who abducted Margaret Fox could have decided to move, start fresh in a small town in another country and blend in with a common name. The strategy for the abductions were the same. Just my thought after watching these videos back to back 🤷♀️
Although this could’ve easily been prevented, I can never blame parents for their children being kidnapped. I’m sure it’s hard work to constantly keep tabs on all your kids 24/7. Seems like they tried to have safety protocols in place like verifying the family and having the girls call when arriving. Sounds like the girls did these baby sitting gigs all time and I’m sure there have been times when the parents didn’t really know the family but because of the familiar last name or relation to someone in town, they let them go in the past. It’s just sad they were too unassuming this time where this murderer had the perfect opportunity.
“bill” had to be a local who was familiar with the area and the family. maybe someone who was a part of the school staff? that would explain how he got the girls phone numbers AND how he knew christensen was a common last name.
You put way too many ads in for covering cases of murdered people. You should be sensitive to the families and not have ads throughout the entire video 🙄🤷

Possibly the relative or friend of a local who disposed of Kelly’s body on his way back home, which was why he took extraordinary steps so her body would not be found.
I get the feeling he was a local, maybe even knew the family
I am sorry about your ads are longer than the story you tell
So skip the ads!!
This is my favorite video of yours! You did a fantastic job covering this and gave so much information! Very interesting to watch!
I’m from Standard and my grandpa was in one of the search groups.
I just downloaded this, let’s enjoy it after your video! 💛☺️
I’ve been busy lately but I’m still here to watch(:
Woah...I'm sorry but what a dumb move on the parents part.
Love hearing stories from my Provence!!! Honestly had no idea this had happened so close to home
Ads end at 21:24💗
Hello I have been waiting all day for your upload ❤️
1981 or now it is extremely weird to let your daughter babysit for a random stranger who calls your house then not to go outside and meet this person???????
that poor girl is probably full of regret and guilt. 🙁
Hey Savannah!! Could you please cover the Tamala Hosford case?
Heartbreaking story 💔
Hey savannah and welcome back with another incredible episode of killer instinct . it's quite unfortunate that she met her end , especially a brutal end at the hands of a sick individual(or individuals)😨
I think he also could've lived there in the past or spent some kind of time in the town before.
Idk what happened.. I was about 15 mins into this interesting case/video then it suddenly switched to the host pitching products. Not 1. Not 2. Like 3 or 4 infomercials, back to back.
Hi Savannah I hope all is well thank you for the videos hope you have a awesome weekend 💜😻 rip Kelly cook 🤍
So incredibly sad :(
Always love when you upload! Keep up the amazing work
OMG 🥴 ☎️I felt old when you explained about the house phone line.
This case is heartbreaking let's hope were ever kelly is she's at peace thanks 4 sharing this case see u next week princess 👸💗 x
I really hate that there is literally 6 minutes of ads in the middle of a 35 minute video it’s so annoying I wish she would not do so many per video
I’m ready for this case !!!!
Now that’s all I’m going to hear 😂
Are you only doing true crime now? Are you okay? Something seems off and I miss your lifestyle videos where we could really see your personality and you as a person, hope everything is okay ❤️❤️
THIS MICROPHONE MAKES YOU SOUND SO MUCH BETTER. LOVE IT!@@
Whoever did this and gave the number so Kelly could babysit feels is trash ! Poor Kelly.
Just my thought after watching these videos back to back 🤷♀️
Can’t see the photos:(
I couldn’t either :(
I am always looking forward to your videos
Although this could’ve easily been prevented, I can never blame parents for their children being kidnapped. I’m sure it’s hard work to constantly keep tabs on all your kids 24/7. Seems like they tried to have safety protocols in place like verifying the family and having the girls call when arriving. Sounds like the girls did these baby sitting gigs all time and I’m sure there have been times when the parents didn’t really know the family but because of the familiar last name or relation to someone in town, they let them go in the past. It’s just sad they were too unassuming this time where this murderer had the perfect opportunity.
Sending my prayers 🙏🏻and love ❤️ too the victim family
Love this podcast you helped do a podcast with my bestfriend
Yay so ready to watch!!
Hey Savannah! Can you please do one on Agatha Christie? She was a author of mystery books and randomly disappeared
He could have looked in the phonebook and looked up last names to see which one was the most common name or had the longest list of last names.
This seems like a one man job . I can’t see this being two at all . It also seems like he was planning this and knew exactly what he was doing . He is probably a family man as well I have a feeling.
hello! I was wondering if u could cover the story of Lisa McVey I feel like it’s not a very “popular” case (btw idk if u already did that case in a video I don’t remember💀) but anyway that case for me was so good and interesting and heartbreaking
I hope they investigated Christian Williams in local area as well.
Back in 1981 ..way way before the internet ..although we knew there was ppl out there like this ,we never knew to what extent it went on ..
This isn’t a crime but can you please do a Britney Spears one
Thanks for covering but damn I feel like the sponsors took up most of the video
