This was an amazing video! Very pure and honest conversation. I just stumbled across it, I am from the Canadian market place (Toronto), in the midst of a career change as well. I seen so much of myself in your video. Great demeanor as well, you are such a gem! I cannot wait to begin the necessary processes on my end. Here in Toronto the term is Candidate as a beginner and I need to find a Supervisor/Mentor. The questions, I have are: 1) Are you able to just go to the bank and ask them to recommend a Supervisor/Mentor? 2) How long can you work for say a bank or an appraisal firm before you can go on to open your own firm? 3) Once on your own, do you have to build a certain clientel yourself or does the bank simply refer them to you? Thanks in advance for your responses. Have a wonderful day 🙂

I think this one of the best in depth real videos on this topic. All the other videos talk about having to be good with people skills and I get it but people want to be your friend when ur an appraiser everyone wants you to be "nice" to them. It's a different kind of people skills from retail and customer service.. I work a 9-5 at a bank branch dealing with customers all day and that to me is grueling. Especially since customers can be really entitled. I feel that depression you mentioned of working 9-5 and it just drains your life. Thank you for the information. I took my courses to become a licensed real estate agent. But Id rather start as an appraiser. ALWAYS in demand no matter the market temperature. My Question how do you work as an appraiser and be a real estate agent too with having to be with a broker? I didn't know a broker would allow that. Thanks for taking my question!
Hello, from Florida 🌴 That's why I couldn't find you on LinkedIn (lol). Thank you for starting this channel. I am interested in learning to become an appraiser after I read an article about it.
Hi Tiffy, thank you for sharing your experience and this information. My husband and I recently purchased a home in South Carolina and I want to say that the appraisal process was one of the longest processes because of the shortage here. My sister that just started Notary Loan Signing mentioned to me the other day that maybe I should look into being an Appraiser . I never thought of it before, but I'm definitely interested in that field now.
How has it been going for you I am a notary signing agent as well but i find this appraisal sector to be very interesting and very important for the community.
@@justjena_7 thanks for replying. From what you gathered so far, does it seem like something you may want to do? I haven't done enough research myself but planning on it.
It was like you were speaking right to me. Thank you for such a positive outlook on being an appraiser. I’ve been researching becoming an appraiser & your video is so helpful.
Do you have advice on finding people are willing to train? I’m a notary signing agent and pretty interested in wanting to do this as well. I found another black woman interested in this and it be great to have more black women in the real estate industry.
Mortgage Banking is the place to be, find the right company you can work remotely and make six figures in your first year easily. All you need is to pass the SAFE test. No Degrees required, good personality, and able to talk over the phone.

Thank you for this! My BIL is taking a course to become an appraiser and suggested it to me because I’m going through a separation/divorce and I need something flexible and single mom friendly but that doesn’t leave me scraping by. My mom was a realtor and I never ever ever wanted to go that route, but appraisal work was never really on my radar. Anyway, this was great and now has me excited!
I am so glad i found this video as well! I will definitely be watching your next video! I am in Illinois and there is sooo much information that it’s hard to find what i need to do to become licensed, what courses i need, how are they working out this appraiser trainee situation with covid-19, just so many questions. I will definitely be emailing you as well with questions as well!! Thank you!
What college did you go to? Also do you have any advice to anyone considering becoming an Appraisal Trainee? After i take the necessary courses i realize getting a Supervising Appraiser to work under is necessary and something that im not sure how it works exactly. I am going through a career change and i loved how informative your video was! I really resonated soooo much with this 🙌 def gonna watch part 2
So happy I found your page! I agree with so many of the gems you were dropping! Appraising is overlooked for sure. I just started my own estate liquidating company (another field overlooked)…do you know if there are any organizations for women (black women) in the industry? Peace and blessings to you!
Wow, thanks for this! I just researched what it takes to get the appraiser License in Canada and boy! Its so cumbersome long process... unlike the Real estate salesperson license! What upsets me is that they dont make as much as the real estate agents!
More diversity is needed in the appraisal sector. Alot of discrimination happens and really keep wealth gaps alive and well. Please encourage your teens and young adults take on these roles. It is so important.
thank you for this information i am looking into this field i’m not sure how the market is now in 2022. So you suggest a certain program or beginning as a trainee?
For someone finishing the courses what should someone do next? Is it a self marketing type job or what jobs can appraisers get? I have no license and I am thinking of ways I can make extra money.
Hearing this from your POV is so extremely helpful. I’m in Houston and listened agent for a commercial real estate firm. And feeling a little stuck. Very inspiring. Thank you for sharing!
Truely appreciate this video! Im in a remote office job, am very interested in the real estate industry, and was contemplating pursuing appraising because of the repetitive nature of my current job. Great information looking at what this career is all about. Thanks!
New subbie-great content! This would be a career change. I like different and challenging. Do you suggest being a trainer or get certified first? Where would you get certification, any recommendations ? Thanks!
I feel like agent jobs are actively being phased out with no one wanting to pay the fees and the internet now available to buy and sell direct, however I think appraisers will always be needed
Hey, Tiffy: was starting to enjoy your vid, and then I heard it… the chirp of the smoke detector. Please read with a caring tone.
Hello, from Florida 🌴
That's why I couldn't find you on LinkedIn (lol). Thank you for starting this channel. I am interested in learning to become an appraiser after I read an article about it.
Thankyou queen! Im excited to watch the next two videos
Currently taking Appraisal Procedures with the Appraisal Institute. This was very encouraging for me to stay the way. Great video.
@@starchildofthe90s7 Hello, yes appraisal is very interesting. I am still in the researching stage.
Did you ever get started and if so, how's it going for you?
@@divakim206 Heyy, I didn't start. I didn't get past the research stage.
@@justjena_7 thanks for replying. From what you gathered so far, does it seem like something you may want to do? I haven't done enough research myself but planning on it.
thank you for this. glad to see the opportunity in this space. excited to find out more.
@@wiseGUY1288 how do you go about finding a good program/ to train with
@@tiffanydacosta1948 Would just do research on Mortgage Banking/Loan officers. Take the federal SAFE test and your ready to go. I would say there is about 5-6 months of ramp up and getting into a new field.
@@tiffanydacosta1948 training just comes as you learn. If you ca. Have a good conversation with a stranger you will do well. I knew nothing about mortgages when I started and failed the test the first 2 times.
@@wiseGUY1288 what company were you able to get on with after your SAFE test and did you start as a mortgage broker. Also, if you did were they willing to further train? Thanks for the information.
Glad I found this channel. Can you do a video on your experience as a trainee? I’m getting a lot of mixed info on how hard it is to find someone to work under after we finish our first 75 hours of class.
You answered some of my question in the next video lol. Thank you
I am taking classes to be certified as appraisal trainee in Florida. Love this video. Any advice on finding a mentor?
I’m in Florida also did you ever find a mentor
@@lovelytea5764 yes! I have been working as a trainee since January. I’m having a lot of fun!
@@jordanchristopher4550 did you have to finish course work before finding a mentor? Also how long does the course work take to finish?

Hows its going so far? Were you able to secure a position?
@@nicolewithers2032 Hey! I didn’t get the position 😩 I’m a full time realtor now, just started my UA-cam channel too. Check it out! 😊
@@Classychari ayee thats wassup! Congrats! I will definitely check it out. What made you make the switch from appraiser to realtor?
@@nicolewithers2032 I actually already was a realtor, but a local county was looking for an appraiser and training people for it. Unfortunately, I didn’t get it, but I was very close thought, which is why I was searching for more information 😊
Man I feel this video so tough!!! This makes me feel understood!!
You're so pretty. I clicked on the video and was "Oooooo". Lol. Ok now let me listen and take notes like I came to do.
PukhamaD aww thank you!
Awesome peaceful video. I'm trying to get my daughters connected with the appraiser certification & home inspections. I use to be a real estate agent in New York. I love everything involving real estate. We might do the course together, thru the Georgia Real Estate School. Thank you for this video. 👍👍👍
Can you want to hire me.I have experience this job.
Awesome! I'm currently a notary loan signing agent and I'm interested in all things real estate. Also hate being stuck in one place.
Please come back and make more videos this was very helpful thank you.
you have gained me as a subscribed :) i am only 18, trying out things i could possibly want to do for a career and your video was helpful, thank you.
Definitely cool you’re looking this type of stuff up bro, as a former mortgage originator I started that when I was 19 and sadly gave up because I just wasn’t pulling leads & it’s truthfully something I regret quitting. Whatever you decide just stick to it bro & go get it. I had to live & learn but I never stop pushing forward 👍🏼
Tiffy, this was some much needed information for my transition from military life to becoming my own boss in the real estate market. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing. I’m looking to do this on the weekends to one day start my own firm
Going into appraisal this summer! Wants to become a general appraisal, getting my bachelors of business marketing in 2024!!
I'm doing it this year! I'm purchasing my training next month and pursuing this career and starting my real estate career.
Any update
Thank you for this! My BIL is taking a course to become an appraiser and suggested it to me because I’m going through a separation/divorce and I need something flexible and single mom friendly but that doesn’t leave me scraping by. My mom was a realtor and I never ever ever wanted to go that route, but appraisal work was never really on my radar. Anyway, this was great and now has me excited!
I am looking into taking appraisal classes, and I am excited
I am so glad i found this video as well! I will definitely be watching your next video! I am in Illinois and there is sooo much information that it’s hard to find what i need to do to become licensed, what courses i need, how are they working out this appraiser trainee situation with covid-19, just so many questions. I will definitely be emailing you as well with questions as well!! Thank you!
Thanks so much for tuning in. Please email me if you have questions. I will do my best to help.
As an appraiser who can you work for? You mentioned you work for a bank. Who else could you decide to work for
I’m inspired my friend who is a broker told me to look into becoming appraiser. So I’m doing my research thanks Tiff!!
Hello, thank you for all the information you have provided. My question is how do you get the 1000 hours of experience to get licensed?
Very helpful info by the way
Dope! I just retired at 51 from corporate. I may look into both being a realtor or being an appraiser.
Thank you, for putting out this video. What would you recommend for a school?
planing to start the process of becoming an appraiser in oklahoma city appreciate the video
Me too
Me as well, but in Tulsa. Love the video!
A woman from Houston looking into appraisal as well. Thank you for this video!
I can’t wait to be a young woman in this business I’m about to be 20 🙌🖤🖤🖤 💁♀️ lol I’ll definitely be looking into what corses I need for Virginia
@ tracy Ragland I am interested in appraiser too and I live in Virginia
@@taiwoakins82 I’m looking to do this and I’m currently visiting Virginia.

For someone finishing the courses what should someone do next? Is it a self marketing type job or what jobs can appraisers get? I have no license and I am thinking of ways I can make extra money.
This might sound silly but can appraisers be employed in real estate companies?

This is a great opportunity as an Appraiser to address the vital safety necessity of getting a new battery in at first chirp.
This is a no skills required maintenance action living in a dwelling, regardless of ownership or renting, but has the biggest return on life and property.

What dictionary should I get to study with The Appraisal of Real Estate 14th edition book?

Great job with this video!!!! I am also a vet and appreciate your service.
I love to see her doing her thing. Question though. Why does everyone get so sqwimish when they talk about money. Why can't she just say how much she makes in Texas for her company? Give people the power that comes with knowledge. This is why companies can low-ball employees. People are too scared to talk about their salary.
