Crown King is the funnest drive to get amazing fudge in AZ. I've not been this way, looks amazing!! Hey! We camped with the fam in cottonwood over the weekend and decided to make the drive that Mexican place you two rave about. O.M.G. so good.
@@JerryArizona In the general store, I believe. Confirming with a friend. They make it fresh and in every flavor. We'll be back to El Patio. I judge every Mexican place on their green chili burros....they passed 👍😂 bonus points for killer margaritas Is that the only one in AZ? I swear there is a place on 7th Ave and Missouri with the same name, never been there though. It's in the old Mary Coyles building.
I was in Lake pleasant this January and it was amazing... I really need to get back during the warmer months. I was able to do the basic Yavapai point but also was able to get pretty far into governors peak... its endless...
Awesome trip! Those tacos man… I’m pretty sure you guys need to enter in the overland cooking contest at Expo West next month, they’d win! Thanks for a fun time, can’t wait to do it again!
Good times, good people, good food. We definitely need to get out there again. But now that we've used our two go-to recipes, I dunno what to make next time. I DO know that you're in charge of breakfast though. The burritos and pancakes and bacon were awesome.
I'm sorry but who is responsible for the production of this video cuz it's freakin amazing! Idk what it's called but like, that part with the MUSIC and then those SHOTS and the music and everything dude it's real sharp, all of of it. Can you link the music you used?
Thanks! All shooting (except Matt's drone shots) and editing is me in my spare time. The music is licensed from Epidemic Sound. Not sure how you get the songs without a monthly licensing fee, but there's probably a way. Artists and song names are in the description.
The back way I've heard of starts around Lake Pleasant and is supposedly very rough; short wheel base and possibly OHV only. My friend said he did it in his Raptor and it was rough in spots and he isn't scared of anything. You can get there from Prescott using the Senator Highway route, I believe. But I haven't done that section yet; just the Senator Highway from the I-17 (Bloody Basin Road) to Crown King. That part was good for any vehicle.
I was about to chastise ya’ll for not hitting the bar there in Crown King…then I saw the shrimp and all was forgiven. I have done the “normal” way from Lake Pleasant and can confirm it’s pretty scary in places. My buddy drove his older Jeep Cherokee with sliders and made it with a group of 5 Rubicons. There were sections the group got out and did rock placement duty for traction and pushes. Up toward the top there was a narrow section I got out and walked because the drop off was steep and far. Definitely a wild way to spend a morning and afternoon. I’ll save the rollover story coming down Lane Mountain for another time. Thanks for this and all the other great content 👍🏻👍🏻
Wish I would have talked to you before you went and gave you more confidence Fall Guy on UA-cam with a stock first gen Sequoia make it through the back way of Crown King. I live in Prescott my Sequoia is getting a total chaos lift 35 by 12.5 by 17 Nitto so I'll be doing it here pretty soon next month wants Prescott Summit 4 by 4 gets done with my truck. It would be cool if you were here in Arizona if you want to go with me I don't have anyone to go with me it's always good not to go alone. Yeah I just realized you were talking about the easy back way I was talking about the hard one. And stock Sequoia did it it's almost unbelievable I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen the video LOL
Any way you can show on a map the actual route you took? Would love to try it in a highlander awd if u think it would make it. Or a lifted explorer 4wd.
Check out the link to Matt & Nicole's video I put in the description. He has a link to the .gpx in the description of his video. (It's also a really cool video.) Good luck. It's a mellow route. We used 4 low once on one short spot, so you'd probably be fine.
That's strange. We went right through town and out the Senator Highway to the I-17. We could get to the saloon and restaurant both times we've been there.
As I Crown King cabin owner, I can tell you that the roads are sometimes closed during fire season or during the winter if the snow is too deep. They are mostly open though so you’ve gotten unlucky!
Tina won't ever own a different vehicle. I may get one when my Tacoma wears out. I'd recommend taking the Senator Highway from the I-17 (the way we went out.) About any car can make it and it's still a fun, scenic drive.
Great video! Crown King is awesome! If you go check out MJ's Cafe for the food, they used be the restaurant in the Saloon. Best Burgers and the Milkshakes are the bomb! Even better they are a BYOB restaurant!!! Everyone skips over them because they don't know, best food in Crown King in my opinion.
Yeah, Tina's old one was gettin' up there in mileage. Figured we'd get a new one while hers was still worth something...and before they change the body style.
Jerry.. you seriously make me miss every single day I'm not in the backcountry ... God Bless 🙏
I'm going to be running this trail soon. Glad I stumbled across your video!
It’s time for breakfast and now I’m hungry!!! Fun video. From here in windy and snowy Colorado. 😀😀😀😀😀

Where's the fudge? Glad you got to El Patio. Never disappoints.

Yep, Crown King General Store.
Wrong about the restaurant. I'm thinking of Mi Patio

I'll need to look into that. Lake Pleasant is close to home.
Drone footage was off the chain ! Ha ha !That’s a great trip . My uncle and I did that south trip in 1978 in a Baja bug ! Love Krown king !
Once again, very cool stuff
Yeah, your Yoda might have some issues heading up the other trail. Will have to check out the easier one one of these days.
Nice video drone footage looks great thanks for sharing
Looks like a good time and with some amazing food! Do you think I could make this road in a Honda Civic on a thursday?
Civics are only allowed on Tuesdays. Texans are banned 24/7 though.
@@JerryArizona I could pass for an Arizonian...my accent is very light.
@@TheNotLostNomad It’s referred to as a drawl. 🤣

Overlanders thrive and glamp. Thats my kind of party!
It's nice to kick back in luxury now and then.
Hey....Did they clean that road up a bit?! It used to be TERRIBLE only a lifted jeep could manage. Timmy C Arizona
You're probably thinking of the 'normal' backway to Crown King. Haven't done that one. I hear it's hairy.

How can we get an update on the road this weekend Jan 2023
Sorry. Late to reply here, but it is probably still a bit of a sloppy mess from all the rain a week or so ago.
Does the “normal” back way to CK start in Prescott, or something completely different?

Thanks! Yeah, I hear the normal back route is pretty hairy. Not for me.

Where do we find the beginning of the road up??
To bad you can't go into Crown King anymore. We tried both ways and were met with locked gates. Great trip though. Y'all be cool.
That's strange. We went right through town and out the Senator Highway to the I-17. We could get to the saloon and restaurant both times we've been there.
We went there the back way a couple weeks ago.
As I Crown King cabin owner, I can tell you that the roads are sometimes closed during fire season or during the winter if the snow is too deep. They are mostly open though so you’ve gotten unlucky!
I did this route in my 08 nissan rogue with highway tires. Dumbest thing I've done haha, but the drive was awesome
This route or the 'normal' back route? The normal one is supposed to be radical. This one was tame. If you made that trip, that's REALLY impressive!
@@JerryArizona I believe it was the normal back route, there wasnt huge rocks I had to climb but I did have to watch what I was doing
What a great trip!👍
It was a really fun time.
@@JerryArizona For sure.
Looked like a good time. Ohhh you didnt even put on a backpack this trip.
Every now and then it's fun to take it easy.
You have drone envy I have 4runner envy, my rav4 would not have made it

that water is all dried up now. I just left there,

New Runner?

❤️☀️
So what is the easier back way? What’s the point of the video if you don’t even disclose the route?
Next time show us the "hairy" route to Crown King lol
Nope! Off roading is definitely not my thing.
A special way to nowhere, isn´t it? I´ve seen pictures of Krown King in a book and looked of them on my sofa. I´ts easyer with my 80 years!
If EASY is what you want, why not go the normal way, Crown King Road off of I 17?
