The 2009 BOTY finals held in Braunschweig Germany, was a true celebration of all things hip-hop. Top b-boy crews from around the world competed for the glory of winning the 'world championship of breakdancing'.
The BOTY is much more than a contest. It's a week-long festival of hip-hop culture, featuring 1 vs 1 and We B*Girlz battles, gigs, workshops and more to ensure the event stays true to its b-boy roots - spreading hip-hop culture to a larger public audience.
The Battle Of The Year has come a long way. Who would have thought that BOTY would go from starting out back in 1990 in a local youth culture centre with 500 hard core fans to an arena packed with more than 12,000 roaring spectators and B-Boy crews from all over the world taking part.
BOTY has grown massively, more and more people can relate to the vision of evolving the spirit of breakdance and creating an international event platform that allows B-Boys and B-Girls from all different countries to express their creativity in front of an ever-growing audience

Korea obviously has the better team, no doubt about it. That said I am missing a little more cheeky top rockin' from 'GAMBLERZ'. Top rockin' is one of the most underated steps in breakdancing. It's a lost art that really reveals the personality and confidence of a B-Boy. Whenever I battle I actually use top rockin' to sort of ''bulk up''. The most basic step in breakdancing actually boosts my morale... But maybe this is just me :)

I was there from 2007 - 2009. People need to understand: the "hate" was not against Russia or Russian crews, they all felt like Japan was better in the semi final.
In 2007, two years prior, there was the same booing, because the German crew made it to the semi finals, while everyone in the audience thought Belgium should have been there.

Team Gamblerz each time changing the composition , if you look at the composition , it is clear that had very many people from other team.A top9 team in no changes in the composition . And if you look Battle 2008, I have a feeling they do not want to show it to their best they are very good in team ligaments .
I like guy from Russia who was wearing fully white clothes with long hair and baseball cap. The whole battle he behaved very impudently and aggressively, but never for all the time had solo :)

I partially agree. Gamblerz are very good dancers, but for collecting Wow of the audience they prefer to show off athletic skills rather then using their incredible acrobatics for breakDANCING. Move at 17:44 is a clear example: wonderful beat cancelled by a strength exhibition.

The main problem in almost every Russian team (not only in breaking) is, that most are no real "teams". It's a compilation of individual talents (if you want to call it that way), but they are not able to work as a team.. + they are often arrogant, while bringing lamer moves than the other team.
