If you don't air dry your wood in a particular time rate and immediately just throw hard wood in the kiln. You going to find out real quick, That the board/slabs you dry. Will come out bowed, cup, split ends or uneven dimensions!

Awesome video and explanation! Thank you! One question - what temperatures did you use and how many days for each temperature cycle you did drying?
When drying those beams we run the kiln at 120 degrees. When drying pine boards we run it at 110 degrees. Thanks for watching

You are generalising hardwoods and softwoods far too much.
Many hardwood species should also be kilned as soon as they are sawn.
You can dry hardwoods as soon as you cut them but it’s best to air dry them before you do.
