Could you explain a little more about how this is the way to track the behavior of a behavior you want to get rid of? Would it be because you are getting a better picture of what the behavior could be looking like to others around the subject? Since we want to reduce behaviors that are not socially acceptable, this way is more effective? OR, would it be because it is better to overestimate the behavior as opposed to underestimating it?
Sure. First issue is that you use it to track any behavior the same way. If the behavior occurs at all during the interval then you indicate that the interval had an occurrence of behavior. I'm not sure I understand your second question about getting a better picture of what the behavior could look like to others. This method is simply a tool to track behavior it doesn't in unto itself serve as a change technique. Which also relates to your third question as this is not a way to reduce a behavior - just a way to observe it. Your last question though I think is interesting. In some cases it may be valuable to overestimate behavior. I guess the question is - 'does your situation warrant doing so'? The bigger picture is that there is no right or wrong technique, just different techniques that have different qualities. Understand those (and it sounds like you do) then you'll be well on your way to making a quality decision! :-)
Again, it’s just a recording technique. It doesn’t effect behavior. Partial interval can overestimate some behaviors though. Just depends on what dimension and type of behavior being recorded.
I love how succinct your definitions are and I really appreciate the examples. Thank you for these videos, they are true public service.
+Ban Haidar that is a wonderfully kind thing to say. And, of course, we couldn't agree more! Thank you!
been using these videos to study for my BCBA exam, thank you so much for the great examples and breakdown.
Mgs2master I’m curious how’d the exam go? Are you a BCBA?
great videos. very helpful. great personality!
Thanks!

Thank you so much! I watch your videos before and after reading the Cooper text. It's been a lifesaver!
The verbalization of babbling was so distracting, I could not understand why it was necessary.
Because we were fishing for comments
Is it used to decrease bx

Babbling is no good
Correct, which is why it was the targeted response for the measurement.
