Oh yeah, this would be great content to present to the rest of us average golfers. Show and explain golf tips and then show the results of the before and after implementation of them. Very good stuff to look forward to. Thanks TAG.
What A great idea. So many of us "average or slightly below average" golfers spend hours viewing these videos trying to self-diagnosis and looking the tip that will correct all our faults. Thanks for this interesting and helpful video.
Great video. It would be cool to see you revisit these tips and explain which ones you're using today. It seems like you've found your groove on the course. Thanks for the great work!
Brilliant tip Andy and credit to Ali. I have a habit of the dreaded "early release" as i have got older the hips are less keen to turn causing the arms and hands to be more active. Tried this on the range this morning and like you say the results were immediate. Thank you 🙂
Loving the series, thank you. Would like to see if you integrate all or most of the tips you have demonstrated, as I have been trying to use a number of them. Thanks again
so are you saying that just the thought of trying to avoid hitting the coin caused the swing to bottom out after the ball or was there also some move you did also?
I subscribe to Ali Taylor’s channel, and I like that he is big on teaching content and less on selling clubs. Thank you for your channel and for helping promote his.
I had seen a coin behind the ball quite some time ago but didn't recall where. I thought I'd give it a try. I started with it an inch behind and gradually moved it to about 1/2 inch. While I clipped it a few times, I was able to seriously clean up my strike. I don't care if I lose yards (which isn't happening!) but the ball flight is now so predictable. Great video!
I've been doing the same drill, just using a towel behind the ball. Works very well, but you have to continue to practice it. I found if I don't, I slip back to my old swing. But, this drill does help a lot!
l Like the tip, something overlooked is finding the low point of your club to make crisp contact, will try this drill at the range and see if it helps me. Keep them coming.
Andy one of your better videos. I tried this in the net in the backyard with my sc 300 launch monitor. Not as good as yours. I started at 4 inches and kept moving it in. I started hitting the penny at about 11/2 inches behind. After about 20 minutes I had it about 1in. Then I started hitting it rarely after about a half hour. The sound as you said was noticeable. So then I took this to the golf course yesterday. And did it there for an instruction/practice round. I noticed further distance and lower ball flight. But the best thing was consistent distance. I rate this video a ten. And will be using it when practicing into my net or at the range.
Great idea. I look 2 inches in front of my ball starting with my wedges and look closer to the ball as I go to the 5 iron. This tip has dramatically improved my iron shots. #pxg
I’ve tried both of those ideas with inconsistent results!! I just keep hitting fat shots. I’m going to give this one a try at the next range session. During my round I’ll even place a little piece of cut grass about 3 inches in front of the ball as a target. It helps, but I still catch it fat most of the time!.
Try this: Place both your feet about 45 degrees open to target, shoulders open as well. Now get the hands in front of the ball with fwd shaft lean and hit small punch shots using an abbreviated follow thru. You should get low piercing straight or draw shots. Use a 9 or 8 iron. If you hit them well gradually increase the length. Never full obviously because you can't turn much from this narrow open footed stance. Try it! Good golfing!!
Like the idea of this series Andy. I watch Steve Johnston PGA tips (Eureka Golf) as his vids are short and too the point and only focus on small/simple drills. I’ve found they work too. Problem is there is so much info and tips the brain can’t cope in the backswing with so many thought processes! Can’t really beat 1:1 coaching. Keep up good work
Yup! Keep em' coming great helpful content. I'm working on sooo many things to improve my swing and ball striking this year. This vid will help a lot. I'm saving it to a growing reference list to re-watch till it sinks in LOL. Thank you!
I just watched this tip from Ali...this is fantastic that you were able to make it work! I have the exact issue you described. I am going out to the range today and will give this a tip a good workout. Love this type of video...very cool idea...Thanks!
Thanks! Tried it today and I’m getting similar results. I’ve been playing my 7 iron to 135 and rarely push it to 150+. After the coin (at 3 in. - I thought I was a decent striker) I too noticed the sound and ball flight. I’m 69 and about a month ago I took out my Ping Raptures V2j which I bought when they came out but never used on course. 31 degree 7 iron got me 165 back then and whatever Mizuno players irons I used back then got me 150. Age sucks. I put away my last MP blades last month and was at first embarrassed to have fat soled, bloated irons in my bag but after the coin drill I can smooth (88% in my mind or 7/8 swing) one out to 145. Now I’m back to shooting 70’s (moved up a tee recently) and am ready to game one of those hybrid irons you recently tested. But I’m not giving up my Ping gap, sand and lib wedges. Thanks Andy, PenguinGolf
Great idea to test the tips! I had already viewed the video from Ali, as I follow him as well. I’ve used that drill for a number of years and it does work great. Keep it up!
Keep these tip tests coming I enjoyed this one. I have seen something similar but with a tee peg placed low in the ground and a few inches in FRONT of the ball. This tip helped me stop topping fairway woods.I visualise a spot 3" in front of my ball and concentrate on hitting that.
Great series idea I’m new to golf and trawl through a lot of the content on you tube which I don’t think are helping trying to change too many things at once? I’ll def be giving the coin tip a try as probably my biggest issue at the moment is having my low point behind the ball? Look forward to the next offering 👍
Really good video, I have exactly the same problem as you. I play off 8 but can't see myself getting any better till I address this weak flight. More tips please, Andy
Good stuff Andy! I do the same thing as you of hitting the ball with the without taking off any loft of the club. Yes the ball goes high and straight but I'm missing that yardage or the ability to hit that lower shot. I've been practicing the chip, pitch & punch drill to work on this more, which I found on the Golf Sidekick channel. It helps you feel the impact and sets your hands up to constantly lead. You should try that out as part of your drills for x amount of time and see if it improves your game.
Would like to see you review Danny Maude, some of his tips are complicated. Delighted we have an average golfer reviewing these tips at last, would like to see the ones that fail.
Great video. Backing it up with data! I'm the same as you as far as ball flight. On course hitting slightly behind the ball especially 7,6,5,4,3 irons.High straight to slight fade flight but distance not consistent with my swing speed. Found out weight a little more fwd. and a slight fwd.press moved the low point fwd. Going to add this drill at range. Thanks.
Thank you for bringing up Ali’s tip. I saw it when it recently came out but I have to admit that I ignored it, I’m so glad that you endorsed it because now I’m definitely going to try it. I’m sure it’s going to work as well for me as it has done for you. By the way, I love your channel!
Great concept. Use technology really add to the credibility of the results. I use similar Drill. I put a Penney in front of the ball when inside off a matt, and a tee on the range. My good friend Chuck Cook showed me that drill many years ago. Looking forward to your next episode.
It is a good drill. I use a tour striker for the same purpose, if you don't have shaft lean, and low point ahead you hit nothing but worm burners off tight lies with a tour striker.
I saw another tip video suggesting to close left eye. I still don't fully understand how/why it works but I tried this in conjunction with the coin. It works, striking feels a lot better.
Love to see this repeated on grass so we can see the divot pattern and whether it helps the ball stop quicker / spin back. I struggle with that and am something of a "picker" of the ball off the turf.
Thanks for this interesting and helpful video.
i watch Ali Taylor , and saw this tip and yes it does work. keep up the good videos and looking forward to seeing this series.
Thanks Andy. Viewing your channel is like having a reference book. Definitely keep testing the tips going' please.
Great video. It would be cool to see you revisit these tips and explain which ones you're using today. It seems like you've found your groove on the course. Thanks for the great work!
Thanks Andy, I'm glued to Ali's channel, he has a great way of relaying the information to the viewers. Glad it worked for you and your ball striking.
yes I really liked this part. Please do more. Thank you
Thanks for posting this tip. I like all beginners need as much help as possible. I just subscribed!
Brilliant tip Andy and credit to Ali. I have a habit of the dreaded "early release" as i have got older the hips are less keen to turn causing the arms and hands to be more active. Tried this on the range this morning and like you say the results were immediate. Thank you 🙂
Great tip! If we don’t have access to trackman then the way to assess whether it is working is via, sound, feel and hopefully increased distance.
I love the concept of this series! Looking forward to future testing of the tips.
Thanks Jason
Loving the series, thank you. Would like to see if you integrate all or most of the tips you have demonstrated, as I have been trying to use a number of them. Thanks again
Thank you. I've been struggling with this for a long time.
so are you saying that just the thought of trying to avoid hitting the coin caused the swing to bottom out after the ball or was there also some move you did also?
Great start to the new series 👏. Defo continue
Cheers for feedback
Wow. Surprising how much of a difference you were able to make. Very eye opening! Thanks for using numbers to back up the change!!
I subscribe to Ali Taylor’s channel, and I like that he is big on teaching content and less on selling clubs. Thank you for your channel and for helping promote his.
I should point out that no golf you tube channel is interested in selling clubs 👍
Like your presentation. Haven’t tried it yet but will. Will watch more videos. Thanks
Rick Shiels did one similar recently about ball position and having your hands forward at address and impact, great tips!!
Omg, this has change my game! Thank you, thank you and thank you!
Thanks, I love it... A fine way to objectively ‘prove’ the benefits of a drill!
Currently using this tip, great to see it backed up by your launch monitor data!
Yep that make’s great sense I will give this a try. Thanks again for your help
Great vlog, I like the analysis of the tip.
Great idea. Loved it.
I did a similar thing. Used a towel instead of a coin. Helped me massively.
Great idea to run a series of tip reviews. Keep them coming.

Great video, thanks to you and Ali Carter
Great series, love the simplicity of your delivery, keep them coming please
I've been doing the same drill, just using a towel behind the ball. Works very well, but you have to continue to practice it. I found if I don't, I slip back to my old swing. But, this drill does help a lot!
Great idea you tube is a wash with tips narrowing it down will be a great help 👍
Love this idea. Please test more tips. The change was remarkable.
I follow Mark Allen at Hillsborough and he recommends using a towel. I tried this and it really helped my ball striking.
Great video - love the Trackman validation. Thanks
l Like the tip, something overlooked is finding the low point of your club to make crisp contact, will try this drill at the range and see if it helps me. Keep them coming.
Brilliant concept! I’m subbed!
Agree. Saw the same tip, and it does work. Thanks for reinforcing.
Just wow! Nice one. Had seen the video from Ali and this just makes it even more real....needs a test @ the range soon
Great idea for a channel. I'll give it a go.

Just saw your channel. Great concept. Beautifully shot and produced. Subscribed.
Great idea. I look 2 inches in front of my ball starting with my wedges and look closer to the ball as I go to the 5 iron. This tip has dramatically improved my iron shots. #pxg
I do something similar. After setup I look at the front of the ball instead of the back, then initiate my swing. It was a game changer for me.
I’ve tried both of those ideas with inconsistent results!! I just keep hitting fat shots. I’m going to give this one a try at the next range session.

Its a wonderfull tip cant wait to give it a go, waiting to see a lot more of the tips tried out, thank you.

I thought so!
Great idea to test these tips we all follow avidly 🤔🤔😄😄
This is a great idea! Cams Hall Estate GC here we come!
Great series idea I’m new to golf and trawl through a lot of the content on you tube which I don’t think are helping trying to change too many things at once? Great idea looking for some more tips 👍
We will be doing one a week I think
Hi Andy, love the idea of this series. I do subscribe to Ali but must have missed this one, will definitely be giving it a try.
I watched Ali Taylor’s video and found it extremely useful, definitely works.👍
Thanks for feedback
Great concept. Look forward to more. Got my sub.
Really good video, I have exactly the same problem as you. I play off 8 but can't see myself getting any better till I address this weak flight. More tips please, Andy
Already put it into practice... it works! Thanks
Ripper concept Andy. Will follow the series eagerly.
Great video. Thank you so much for your review.
Great idea and great video on this tip! Keep up the great work!
Just the thing we want to see great video definitely continue with this

This is awesome! Seeing this is motivating, and I'll be doing it TOMORROW!!!
Excellent concept 🤙🏼
Great result! I'll definitely be giving this a try.
Great tip and excellent presentation. I will definitely use this in my range work. Thanks.
Your the man Andy .Great series for tips thanks
Very good tip that Andy 👍

fantastic tip, well explained. Keep 'em coming!!

This could be the holy grail of golf tips!
Great concept for this channel.
Would it be possible to include a link to the original tip?
Thanks
Another great analysis, however did accuracy and distance improve as well, keep up the good work
Fantastic! Keep the tips coming!
Will be trying this today
I use a guitar plectrum for the same reason though is softer on the club if you hit it.
I agree that this Ali tip is beneficial, I was losing my coins so I placed tees behind my ball. Thanks for your review and validation of this tip. 🇨🇦
Yes please, more of this, great stuff!
Gonna try that one Andy 👍
love the concept of the series. looking forward to seeing more. I havent used a coin. I have used a towel and have seen similar success.
Some tips work but, for me most don't. Great idea and I'm looking forward to more.
Great concept. Use technology really add to the credibility of the results. I use similar Drill. I put a Penney in front of the ball when inside off a matt, and a tee on the range. My good friend Chuck Cook showed me that drill many years ago. Looking forward to your next episode.
Excellent! I am not sure you are an average golfer. You might even be a "Golf Shark". My first viewing and now a new subscriber.
That was great and makes perfect sense. Thank you!
Yeah I do the same great practice tip cheers.
It is a good drill. I use a tour striker for the same purpose, if you don't have shaft lean, and low point ahead you hit nothing but worm burners off tight lies with a tour striker.
thank you for this video. This will definitely be the case for me. On another note, can you let us know about your apparel. Specifically love the cap.
I'm going to have to try this.
This drill it really good, it changed my swing. Great job. P Kendall.
Would be interested to see how you get on with the stack-and-tilt from Saguto Golf
I saw another tip video suggesting to close left eye. I still don't fully understand how/why it works but I tried this in conjunction with the coin. It works, striking feels a lot better.
