We have not ate at a CB in a long time. We used to love it. Actually we don’t eat out much anymore. We are retired and it’s too costly for us. Thx for taking us. God bless.
We went to Cracker Barrel a few weeks ago in Pigeon Forge. I too ordered the steak. It didn’t have any seasoning on it, I didn’t taste any garlic butter or anything. The steak was a little tough, and about the size yours was. The mashed potatoes were outstanding that night . My husband had a baked potato that night, and it was just like yours, warm but not hot. We still love Cracker Barrel, and hope they don’t make radical changes. (Although, they can get rid of the serving of alcohol) I can’t wait to try that bee sting sauce! Great video!
Fully agree with you about the alcohol. I was very disappointed when they started that. It is interesting, that yours and your husband's experience was pretty much the same as ours. From the steak being tough, to the potato not being hot. I could taste some seasoning on my steak, but it was so overcooked, that I found it hard to eat. If you try that bee sting sauce, tell me what you think of it. It has a bit of a kick, but certainly nothing intense.
We are sorry you didn't enjoy your steak. I think my steak was bigger and prepared better. My was tender and juicy. We are glad you enjoyed the Bee sting sauce. I ordered the turnip greens for the first time at Cracker Barrel. I agree with you about not needing any vinger on them. You are right, Derrick, eat your food the way you like it, I think the items Brent and Jennifer ordered are only at the new updated restaurants. I think they have only changed ten restaurants so far. Thank you for the shout-out. Have a great weekend. Happy Father's Day. 😎😎
You all have a great Father's Day weekend, as well. Thank y'all so much for watching. Yes, when we were watching y'all's 2 videos the other night (yours and EDIS), we just decided we had to go and try it. Your steak did look very good. And tell John that I really appreciate the suggestion of dipping that chicken in the bee sting sauce. I probably would not have thought of ordering a side of that, otherwise. But that actually made the experience. I just wish I could get my own turnip greens out of the garden to taste as good as theirs do. We were wondering if it was only the updated restaurants that served those other items. I think Shawnasi would have gotten that Creole shrimp, had it been available
Great video and review. We do like the real and honest reviews that you all do. We ate at the Kodak, TN Cracker Barrel for the new menu items a few weeks ago. I SK had the NY strip steak ordered medium and it did come out right and it was good. I will say this that years ago at the Elkhart, IN location during the 1990s we never had a bad meal or bad experience. Today not all the locations of CB are good. You probably have a 50% chance of a great meal and then not so great meals other times. I do hope they can recover and focus on just making good in house cooked meals again. They don’t need to do face lifts on the restaurants just make excellent food again and they will do great. Thanks for the video. Take care.
Yes, I wish they would forget about the facelifts, too. We always have a good meal at this location. This steak would have been fine, had it not been overcooked. We have eaten at the Kodak location a couple of times. Always been good. Thanks so much for watching, and for commenting.
You two are loving life and living large. Our GOD is an AWESOME GOD. Keep it rolling. Good video. Now I'm hungry 😂😂. God bless and protect you always 🙏.
We have a Cracker Barrel near us. It is still the old style and like you I hope it does not change. Cracker Barrel is one if my favorite chain restaurants to eat at. It gives me a taste of good ole southern cooking.
Yes, it has always been my favorite chain restaurant overall. I was disappointed when they started putting alcohol on the menu, though. But they do give you a good, Southern style meal.
We have had the same experience in Greensboro, I noticed that covid messed people up because they dont want to work and Cracker Barrel thinks it's because of other things why people aren't coming there to eat but I know we used to eat at one every week and the food was not as good as before covid , the cornbread was always hard as a brick and when I saw on a news brief that they were changing the inside and outside I emailed the company but they have not emailed me back but I hope they keep them like they are thank you for your video and God Bless
Our newest CB near us has had the new look AND layout since it opened a few years ago. The cashier area is on the back wall where the bathrooms typically are and you enter the dining to the left center instead of the left corner. If I'm not mistaken the manager here told me once that there is ONE item hanging from the ceiling in the store part that is hanging upside down among all those antiques. Every store supposedly has one to hunt for. I used to order my steaks med-well but I prefer medium now. Since Shawnasi got the maple chicken , tell her Chic fil a has a new sandwich like that in grilled or fried.
Yes, she saw the Chick-fil-a commercial yesterday, and wants to try it. We have not seen one of the new CB restaurants yet. I am curious, but I think I will prefer the retro look.
We ate last at Cracker Barrel 2018 October…it was our first stop when we drove to Phoenix AZ. This go round, we are flying to Phoenix July 4-11. Haven’t been on a plane since 1997😮
We had a huge service issue at the one in Sanford, NC... They also took forever to come to the table to take our orders. When they did, it took another 30 minutes to get the food and they only brought half of it, telling us that they had to wait for the biscuits and gravy to cool down before bringing it to the table. Tommy didn't get all of his food and neither did my mom. Apparently that location has been having some problems because the regional manager was there that day observing. I'm guessing that that's what some of these makeovers are about. I had a similar experience at the one in Dothan, Alabama during a ladies gathering. The waitress kept ignoring my mother, blatantly, and then when we finally drew attention to it,, anytime my mom spoke to her, she huffed and rolled her eyes the entire time. When the food came, it was cold, even though it took a solid 45 minutes to get it. The peach tea is so good! I love turnip greens but have never had Cracker Barrel"s. I guess I need to try those! Hashbrown casserole is always my go-to. Great video!!!
It seems that this type of service issue is becoming an issue at several Cracker Barrel locations. Not sure why, but others have commented the same thing. It is definitely something they need to address. Yes, the turnip greens at Cracker Barrel are the best I've had. Thanks for watching!

I have never had them before but they look like something I would like. Thank you for all of your videos and reviews and for keeping it clean and classy. Take care.
This was the first time they've ever been hard when she's gotten them. That's actually one of her favorite sides, and she gets them every visit. I watched one of your videos from longhorn and you mentioned the stuffed mushrooms having an odd number. When we have gotten them I always thought the same thing, why 5. Yesterday we went to longhorn for lunch and ordered the mushrooms and there was 6. So hopefully it has changed to 6 and not a mistake yesterday. I love all of your videos. Thank you so much for your encouraging comment. We are honored that you like the content of our channel. It certainly makes more sense to give an even number of the mushrooms. I hope that's the case going forward.
We have had waitresses like that before. I think Cracker Barrel needs customer service to make a great company. They don't have enough help either. The food is good and I love the gift shop too. Thank you and your wife for showing different places you go, we love it. ❤❤😊
We really appreciate you watching. We've never really had a service issue there before, and I don't think we've ever been anywhere that we sat 20 minutes before they even came and got our drink order. @@cathymcgee1674 Thank you for your comment. Yeah, I don't worry about what critics say about how I eat my steak. It amazes me, that people are that miserable on the inside, that they feel they have to criticize what someone else likes, or think they can tell someone how to eat. Yes, she was a very good waitress. Thanks so much for watching!
We have actually left that particular store, not getting waited on. Sometimes the food is not up to par. They do have some great employees as well, but I guess that is the same in lot's of restaurants. Enjoy your weekend and God bless.
@patriciahurley1867 It's interesting that you have had that same experience at this location. Sounds like it wasn't just a one-time thing for us, but something they definitely need to give some attention to. There's no reason for customers to have to go in there and then be ignored. I want to say that the waitress we did end up with, was top notch. Thanks for sharing, and you have a blessed weekend!
Good review on Cracker Barrel! It's just a hit & miss with our local Cracker Barrel! Hey, you might want to remind subscribers to check & see if they are still subscribed to the channel! I don't know why utube would unsubscribe channels, but it's happening to several of ours! We watch all your videos, too!
We had that same issue a while back, where somebody said that they had been unsubscribed. Our subscriber count has been growing pretty rapidly, and we haven't noticed any drop-off. I certainly hope that hasn't happened to anybody. One person said they just stopped seeing our videos in their feed, so I told them to unsubscribe and then subscribe again, and that fixed the problem. But that's been probably 2 years ago.
I have always enjoyed Cracker Barrel. But I don’t go to the Gastonia location anymore. Last time there we waited 20 minutes to be seated and then another 20 minutes to take our drink order. Ordered our food and it was 30 minutes before we got it. Then it was not fit to eat. Every thing was cold and seemed like it had been setting in the kitchen most of the day. I usually never complain but I did when I paid to leave this time. We are retired so we were really not in a rush to eat. But it was just a terrible experience. We have been thinking about trying the one in Hickory
I am like you, I like my A1 steak sauce. I keep it in my frig. I also when I go out to eat and I have steak I drown it with it. I hope you both have a blessed week.
Love us some CB! We hope they keep it country looking! We might go on our way to Costco tomorrow. Get the Jaws T-shirt, and wear it to Myrtle Bch. 😅 😊😂😊
Good to see y'all doing our local restaurants. Can get a slow server at CB from time to time. Lot of turnover in restaurants these days. We love the butter mints there on the way out, if you can catch them in. Have you done Fresh Depot? We like it pretty good. Stay safe and enjoy!
The Fresh Depot is under discussion for us to do very soon. Shawnasi just went there and had supper with a group of lady co-workers a while back, and came home and told me we need to do a review there. It will likely be after the 4th of July week, but it will be coming soon. We've actually done video reviews at other local restaurants in the area, including this Cracker Barrel. But it had been over a year since we had. I actually created a playlist on the channel, called "Local Dining", that features the restaurants that we've done in this area.
We had a woman at church years ago who was a regional training manager with CB Corporate.. They had high standards. But, she also shared some horror stories! One thing Esther was adamant on was that "Cracker Barrell will never serve alcohol!" I told her that will change. Too many "reasons". For one thing, the markup on alcohol is much greater than even on sodas. Also, in some states, the government is a "double dipper" when it comes to alcohol sales. Not only do they tax it, but there are states where the government has a monopoly on alcohol distribution and end user sales. So, now you have the government add its profit before the restaurant tacks on it's piece. While I'll have maybe one or two drinks in a year with friends or family, I just find it a little unnatural for Cracker Barrell to have beer, wine, and mimosas on their menu. It still doesn't strike me as the "kind of place" to have a drink, Also, while I'm a subscriber with "the ringing bell", I'm not getting any alerts. Like when you did the live Sunday evening. Finally, have you ever has a place bring out A1 without you having to ask? God Bless!
We agree. It was always nice to go to Cracker Barrel, and have a meal in a family environment, without having to be near or observe people drinking it. I was very disappointed when they went that route. I agree, that it is very unnatural for a place like CB, to do that.
Once you have Cherokee Grill Derrrick it’s hard to find a great steak. 😂😂. We have a Cracker Barrel about 35 minutes from us here in Pa. When are you both going to Shady Maple i forgot? Thanks and God Bless!!!
Lord willing, we will be at Shady Maple on Friday, of this upcoming week. Yes, Cherokee Grill is hard to top. But there are a few places that give it a run for its money. But this steak at CB was not one of them.
I love to eat at CB but my hubby and the kids don’t. I usually eat there when I am out with my parents or one of my friends. I like their green beans and marinated chicken cutlets.
Pretty much everything there is always good. My steak last night, was the lone exception. And it would have been good, had it not been overcooked. I believe I've had their green beans, but it's been a while. Don't think I've ever had the marinated chicken cutlets. But it sounds good.
@@NCMemoryMakers I think they are marinated in Italian dressing. I am going to have to try the turnips. Yeah we like our steak cooked medium too and when they overcook it it’s not as good
Every time you go out to eat and I know you’re gonna have steak. I always can’t wait to see that A1 sauce. I get tickled every time I see it.. always look and say, where is the A1👍🏼
LOL...At Cracker Barrel, I usually don't get steak. But after seeing the other video from J&B, I wanted to give it a try. It was not the best steak I've had. But theirs looked much better than mine did. Yes, the A-1 thing has sort of become a running joke, with a handful of people getting so triggered by it, and commenting to tell me how much it bothers them. Two people even called me a name for it, believe it or not. Not sure if they think I'm just gonna say "Oh, I am so sorry. I will never eat A-1 again", or what their purpose is. But it is ridiculous to tell a grown adult what to like on their steak, so I just keep doing it and letting them see it. Anyway, thanks for watching. We appreciate it!
My last visit to a cracker barrel was in Roanoke Rapids on my way north. It was a very bad visit. The food was not cooked (bacon) hardly at all. It looked raw and it took forever to get my food. I don't think I will go back to that one again.
I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience at that location. I would definitely give them another try, maybe another location. They usually serve up a pretty good meal, and a good breakfast.
We sat at a Cracker Barrel nearly 30 minutes one time until someone came to wait on us. People were coming in after us and got waited on before us. We wouldn't have minded as much but it wasn't busy at all. We were told they were short handed. The server kept talking to people at another table and did not come to us. When we finally got our food it was cold. It was very poor service.
The lady who was supposed to be our waitress, was doing the same thing...Just talking with other people at their table...for extended periods. When we first noticed it, we didn't know yet that she was supposed to be our waitress, but the lady who actually became our waitress, told us. And we had seen her just talking to others and walking right by us. But our waitress did a very good job, once we got noticed.
Mount Juliette ,tn ( Nashville, TN) is one of a few stores around Nashville. They are testing new look and food. They are trying to update the restaurant. They say the younger people don't eat there. There customer base where older people they have died off. there sales are down and trying to reinvent there store I like the way they are. I think when ever they started servering alcohol. They blame it on covid but I know church people that used to go and they quit going because of alcohol.
We actually considered quitting going there over the alcohol thing. We decided that we would keep going, because we go to other restaurants that serve it, even though we don't touch it ourselves. However, it really disappointed us with Cracker Barrel, because they were always that one place you could go to and not have to be around it at all. In fact, one of the other reviews that we watched and mentioned in this video, from the channel "Every Day Is Saturday", did their video review at the Mount Juliet location.
I don't touch the stuff my self. You can't go to a store to buy groceries that don't sell it you have two buy food. I saw Every day is Saturday video too.
I live in dalton ,GA we have a kroger with a open bar called krobar. They are puttting them in all kroger. They are putting them in the newer krogers. I don't like that I try to say away get to buy groceries. The devil is taking over and it is like the Bible the world will go and do wicked ways. theLord is coming soon.

All Cracker Barrels i think will go to the new look because the new CEO wants to get the younger crowds coming to Cracker Barrel. Lets face it they dont after all of us older people die who will go there. Before i check out i would say that the one area that Cracker Barrel needs to do better is give larger portions on your sides with your meal. One other thing too the food is a lot of times not hot enough.
If it isn’t broke! If my Cracker Barrel changes its menu, we’re through. I like the decor and the home style cooking. Biscuits and gravy like no where else, why, why , why Cracker Barrel?
I always liked the crackerbarrel we ate there several months ago. Food wasn't good, or the service I won't go back we sent a complaint no response back. Wow, covid destroyed everything you see in everything. Employee shortages are very sad but a fact. Food is hit and miss at many restraunts.
I like restaurants that's different when it comes down to deep down Southern meals these lg buffets they can be so Rude' girl wouldn't give me and my companion refills on water that tick me off but she was giving otheres what they needed guessing because my male companion was white and me blk this is the Gods truth I'm in my 60's.
Except, this time, the woman who was supposed to be our waitress and ignored us, looked to be in her 60s. The girl who came through, was younger. She's actually in the video a few times. I know what you mean, and that's usually the case. But this time was the exception.

But that's been probably 2 years ago.
awesome video.
Thank you!
The one in Hickory has always been good. This last visit, was the first time we've ever had an issue.
Our go to place ....... 👍👍......... MB ....
Yes, they have really good food.
@@NCMemoryMakers , Agreed .......
I am like you, I like my A1 steak sauce. I keep it in my frig. I also when I go out to eat and I have steak I drown it with it. I hope you both have a blessed week.
Yes, I put it on burgers and steak. Always have.
Thank you so much for watching and for commenting.
@@NCMemoryMakers You are welcome.
Love us some CB! We hope they keep it country looking! We might go on our way to Costco tomorrow. Get the Jaws T-shirt, and wear it to Myrtle Bch. 😅 😊😂😊
If you go, let us know how it is. I do kind of wish I had gotten the Peanuts shirt...LOL.
Food preparation comes down to the cook…everything looked good,,I order mine medium well..
This one was definitely overcooked, and as a result, rubbery.
I talked to the manager at my local Cracker Barrel, and she said only the ( Low Performance stores) will get remodeled for right now. 😊
I hope they don't change them all.
Also with a turnip greens, my grandson uses vinegar and mayonnaise and on my turnip greens. I just put a little mayonnaise and Man is it delicious
Some turnip greens need vinegar. But the ones at Cracker Barrel are so good with the ham cooked into it, that they are perfect the way they are.
Relax and enjoy dinner.
@@robinlippy4799 What are you talking about?
I'm glad I watched because I don't know what to order there thank you😅
You are very welcome. We're glad you watched, too. Have a blessed day.
Love crack barrel
Yes, we do, as well. Thanks for watching.
Can’t wait to see your video there. Be safe coming to our home state!!!
@@terrykallmann4146 Thank you so much. We're looking forward to it!
I usually get the meatloaf and chicken snd dumplings with the hash brown casserole and pinto beans.
Shawnasi likes the chicken and dumplings, too. I am not sure if she has tried the meatloaf, but she always gets the hash brown casserole.
Yeah we like our steak cooked medium too and when they overcook it it’s not as good
@@monicamoore111 I agree. This one was like rubber, in some parts of it.
Buc-ee the beaver sure does get around doesn't he?!
He sure does!
Do all Cracker Barrel restaurants offer the 5take home dinner meals
@@carmenbarrett2338 As far as I know, they do.

Everything looked good. I like their steaks but I love Longhorn Steakhouse steaks better. I do love the store at Cracker Barrel
Oh, absolutely. The steaks at Longhorn are on another level, and are far better in that regard.
Thanks so much for watching!
@@NCMemoryMakers They sure are. I've never gotten a bad steak from there. You are very welcome
I completely understand your feelings.
I always liked the crackerbarrel we ate there several months ago. Food wasn't good, or the service I won't go back we sent a complaint no response back. Wow, covid destroyed everything you see in everything. Employee shortages are very sad but a fact. Food is hit and miss at many restraunts.
Sorry your previous experience at Cracker Barrel was bad.
@NCMemoryMakers it's fine. It's hit and miss anymore, thank you.
They dont wait on me withing 20 minutes, anywhere, im leaving!!
