Kecap and ketchup is different, kecap in Indonesia is soy sauce in english the taste is sweet. For the KETCHUP in indonesia is mean Tomato sauce. So its almost same pronounsation but different meaning.
I think thats what i know,
🙏🙏🙏
kecap is made from black bean and brown sugar thats why its sweet...because indonesia has coconut tree, the product is coconut milk and brown palm sugar....
Assalamualaikum from Indonesia. thank you for tasting and reviewing indonesian food, hope youll get more, always healthy and have a nice day
Thank you! I really liked it so if I get the chance to try more I definitely will ☺️
Yes correct, Indonesian language is influenced by Portuguese, Spanish, dutch, arabic, sanskrit, malay, chinese, English. And some ethnical languages
That one is Kecap not Ketchup. Kecap is Indonesian sweet soy sauce, many Indonesian dishes using kecap as one of the ingredients
lol... ketchup ( tomato sauce) and kecap manis (sweet soy sauce)
Fyi, kecap is not a loan word from english 'ketchup'. It's originally a loan word from chinese word "ke'tsiap" or "koh jup".
Thank you! I got to learn so much from the comment section of this video
Kak Ineu 😁
Kecap = sweet soy sauce (the black one)
Ketchup = tomato sauce (the red one)
Same spell
Your indonesian friend think kecap, but you think ketchup.. miss understanding..
Ohhh Indonesian's also have siomai in their cuisine. We also have that it's like mandu and it is tasty. Happy you uploaded again video. Ketchup is red whether it is tomato ketchup or banana ketchup.
Banana ketchup 😧 I also didn't know that was a thing! I guess I will have to do some research about the world of ketchup 😆
@@ForeignerHere Banana ketchup basically originated in Philippines so I think it's not that kinda known globally. Unlike tomato ketchup it has a sweet and sour taste. I think you'll like it though.
hi there! im from indonesia and i love your videos especially the KGSP preparation one. i am a 1st year student studying in ewha womans university but i applied for 2021 GKS this october. im so thankful for your videos as i feel encouraged by them. anyway, ineu is my friend too! :D hope you're having a great day~
Wow what a small place the world actually is 😄 nice to meet you! I'll be going to Ewha next year but I don't think I will be able to see you if you get the scholarship (which I hope is the case 💪) are you there for a language course or something?
@@ForeignerHere nope! i'm a regular student hahah😅 thank you for your kind words~ well we still can meet soon! hope to see you soon!
i think your friend not explained it quite well, in indonesia 'ketchup= 'kecap', complete word of it is 'kecap manis', its basically sweet fermented soy sauce, 'manis' = 'sweet' , the flavour distinction is because theres 'kecap asin', 'asin' = 'salty' , this for your usual asian style soy sauce, but generally speaking, if you say 'kecap' in indonesia, its 99% of the time means 'kecap manis'
'red' ketchup is 'saos tomat' or 'sambal tomat' = 'tomato sauce'
Thank you for the thorough explanation 😉
Spanish subtitles are now up!
Let me know if you prefer the in-video subtitles or UA-cam CC more

❤❤❤
Murah banget
Kecap in Indonesia is not ketchup as we know, ıt's basicly sweet soy sauce
So I was right! It is some kind of soy sauce. Thank you for letting me know, I will tell my friend 😉
@@ForeignerHere yes exactly, i'm Turkish and also when i try Indonesian foods for the first time i was same as you 🤣 i was like wth... It's not ketchup!! But then i learned that the original name of that it "kecap manis" manis means sweet.
that food looks delicious! I don't know the black ketchup 🤯
Usualy we indonesian call the back one is ketchup n the red one is sauce.....
klo kecap ABC coba jadi kecap Bango..hati hati banyak barang imitasi dari barang indo rasa nya agak lite getoh
FYI the black sauce in the vid is called KECAP (exactly pronounced as 'ketchup') which is sweet soy sauce.
The real 'ketchup' is called SAUS TOMAT (tomato sauce) in Indonesia.
