Margaret Hamilton’s Wicked Witch is the tormentor. She represents the Witch’s sadism and cruelty. Evillene is the beast. She is a literal monster who represents the Witch’s raw power. Theodora is the vengeful. She represents the Witch’s desire for revenge. Zelena is the manipulator. She represents the Witch’s cunning and scheming side. Elphaba is the innocent. She represents the one glimmer of goodness left in the Witch. The Witch must accept that she is all of these things-tormentor, beast, vengeful, manipulator, and yet, still innocent. To survive the storm, the Witch must accept that she IS the storm.
I love how when Broadway Elphaba looks at Margaret’s wicked witch, Evilene from the wiz, Zelena, and Theodora she looks absolutely terrified because that’s who people perceive her to be and that’s who she doesn’t want to be, but then when she looks at movie Elphaba she looks hopeful, but also scared because that’s who she wants people to see her as and she knows people probably don’t see her as that. Also, how all of the wicked witches look at her like they embraced their wicked and evil personas and then movie Elphaba looks at her with desperation and like essentially being show them who we really are this is not who we want to be, and this is not who we are
And the worst thing is that Theodora was also a victim like stage and movie Elphaba, but after she got poisoned her mind, spirit and body got completely corrupted to the point that she no longer feels any shred of goodness within herself. Her only form of redemption has been violently ripped from her, just as the poison she ingested was also hurting her in her transfomation.
@kasumifaith3339 but to brutally honest it was Theodora who attempted to pin the wickedness on her good, "Goody-toshoes" sister Glinda But in reality the wickedness was on her sister Evanora. That was when it was revealed that Evanora was the wicked one all along.

That makes a lot of sense for each different Wicked Witches and how they symbolized their personalities, actions, and moral complexities of being their own version of the iconic Oz character. • 1939’s Wicked Witch (Margret Hamilton): Madness • 1978’s Evillene (Mabel King): Power • 2013’s Theodora (Mila Kunis): Vengeance • 2013’s Zelena (Rebecca Mader): Envy • 2024’s Elphaba (Cynthia Evrio): Hope I believe that the Broadway version of Elphaba (Jessica Vosk) represents individuality. Individuality means makes someone distinct from others. It is the expression of personal traits, beliefs, and values that define a person’s unique identity. Individuality often involves standing apart from societal expectations and asserting one’s true self, even when it comes with challenges. This music video perfectly shows Elphaba resonates because it reflects the universal struggle for acceptance, the pursuit of justice, and the power of embracing who you are.
I love the lyric “is evil born or is evil made?” reminds me of “Are people born wicked, or do they have wickedness thrust upon them?” INCREDIBLE song and video!!💚✨🧹
This song is amazing. Not only does it show what Elphaba thinks, but it also shows what its like to have self doubt when other people see you differently
This is one of the best villain songs I have ever heard. Personally, villains like Elphaba are my favorite because it makes us question who the real villain is. Is it the one who is merely a victim of circumstance, like Elphaba having a unique appearance or different perspective on life? Or it is society itself who demonized her for whatever reason and made her think that she is a villain when she isn't. And even if she does do good, society will always see her as the Wicked Witch of the West. Because of this, Elphaba really starts to question herself. Is she really wicked, or is that a role that everyone is forcing her to play?
2:51 I love how this part ( unintentionally or not) references the witch from into the woods during the song “ your fault”. It’s really interesting to me

So very much to love about this. That was totally wicked! Pun intended. Seriously, this was an amazing evolution of this iconic witch. I love the different iterations and how the term ‘wicked’ is used in different ways. Some say she’s wicked, but may not know her true intentions as perhaps things she’s compassionate about and standing up for herself and others may considered to be wicked. That’s why I love the musical. A point of view from Elphaba and her side of the story puts a whole different perspective of what is truly meant to be Wicked. Great job overall guys! 💚🌪️
I wish I knew more about the Broadway versions of the Wicked Witch but I truly enjoyed watching this! I definitely felt like there was some lyrical inspiration from Into the Unknown from Frozen 2 & How Far I'll Go from Moana. Jessica absolutely killed the vocals & seeing the Once Upon a Time version of the wicked witch was a nice touch too! Very cool video!
I don't know if it's been mentioned but when Broadway elphaba sang @ 2:34 "Is there any hope left for someone like me" it pans to current elphaba from the movie, and to me the actress playing movie Elphaba moved her mouth ever so slightly giving an answer which looked like a yes?
I love the fact she has every witch from the wiz to once upon a time incorporated every wickedness as a reflection asking if there is a different path ❤❤❤
I was not emotionally prepared to see the absolutely unit of the Witch from The Wiz. Such a different, yet amazing take. (Sidenote: This helped me sudden have a revelation on why I don't like the look of the Wicked Witch in the new movie, and its quite funny, but she's too green. Her whole face is green, but she's also got green eyes and green lips and nothing really contrasts her face.)
It would've been a fun deleted scene to have Elphaba see the Miss Piggy Witch of the West and when it's her turn to make a scary face she's like, "Who Moi? Aheheha" then do a glamorous pose.
Margaret Hamilton’s Wicked Witch is the tormentor. She represents the Witch’s sadism and cruelty.

0:31 Elsa has been asking herself the same question.
AMAZING!!! Another masterpiece! Zelena will always be my favorite wicked witch.
Wicked always wins
& Rebecca mader was truly a sweetheart in person when I met her @ once upon a time con
@disneyinuyamon really did you meet her
This is absolute perfection. Do i listen to it multiple times a day? Yes. lol
I am speechless. And this Is AWESOME 👌
This is a true blessing to my ears
We're defying gravity with this one!
Amazing work, as always!
Just amazing
Gods that gave me chills! So beautiful and powerful!
What a beautiful video AND vocal performance! 🤩🤩
Thank you a LOT for this. ❤
I want a part 2 of evolution of Glinda's!!
THIS IS SO GOOD!! The costumes are spot on, especially Zelena! ❤ reminds me of “Monster” from the Frozen Musical!
That’s what I was thinking too!!
Thank you so much from pattycake production team and cast 😢,it brought back alot of feels snd memories
You guys have done it again!!! This is why I tell so many people to check out PattyCake Productions!! I immediately knew this was going to be good with Jessica Vosk in the mix but HOLY MOLY. This was amazing. (also running not walking to add song on spotify)
Absolutely amazing! I'm always floored at the attention to detail you put into every aspect of the video. The costumes are stunning!
I love this so much ❤️
Another masterpiece! I always believed that the Wicked Witch was under imagined I thought they could have gone so far more with her character!
Oh wow, that is amazing!! The lyrics, the vocals, the set, the video!! Brilliantly done...
The lookalikes are always so incredible in your videos. EVILENE, ELPHABA, THEODORA, ZELENA & of course the most famous Wicked Witch of them all, such an amazing cast.
I'll always prefer the Oz books to any of the films, but this was an awesome homage to the Broadway, film and television witches!
This is awesome! Tony, kudos on the costumes - keeping the looks recognizable yet distinct and visually interesting. And Kathy looked like she had so much fun!
This is one of the best tributes to one of the best witches to ever grace the screen and the stage. Elphaba is one of the coolest heroines ever since I’ve seen Wicked two times on Broadway. This tribute is just magical! 💚💚💚
This was AMAZING!!! The different version of the wicked witch were SO spot on! Jessica Vosk is INCREDIBLE!! I absolutely love this song! I honestly thing this better then No Good Deed! OUTSTANDING job!!!💚
Even though she’s The Wicked Witch, she sounds so innocent.
When I saw the thumbnail, I thought it was going to be every version of the Wicked Witch of the West meeting up to see who is more wicked or something. This is even better! Elphaba trying to figure out who she wants to be while seeing every variation of who she could become is an amazing concept! And the music was awesome!
I know this doesn't really matter as much, but hearing Jessica sing is amazing. The first time I ever heard her was from Hazbin Hotel, and she didn't get to sing a lot. I know she will have a so g in season 2, so it is so great to hear her sing a full song even if it not Hazbin. Thank you so much.
Pattycake Productions has done it again! 🥰
wow... your best production yet! Pure🔥!!
Might be the best one y’all have ever done. Love all the references & awesome song.
2:32 was So Cute
I wish I knew more about the Broadway versions of the Wicked Witch but I truly enjoyed watching this! I definitely felt like there was some lyrical inspiration from Into the Unknown from Frozen 2 & How Far I'll Go from Moana. Jessica absolutely killed the vocals & seeing the Once Upon a Time version of the wicked witch was a nice touch too! Very cool video!
Well, if you're interested, we're getting a film adaptation in theatres next week. Cynthia Erivo seems like she's nailing it.
I don't know if it's been mentioned but when Broadway elphaba sang @ 2:34 "Is there any hope left for someone like me" it pans to current elphaba from the movie, and to me the actress playing movie Elphaba moved her mouth ever so slightly giving an answer which looked like a yes?
Fans: "Defying Gravity" is the best song about the Wicked Witch of the West.
Pattycake Productions: Hold our beer
Bravo 👏
Wickedly oztastic!
I love the fact she has every witch from the wiz to once upon a time incorporated every wickedness as a reflection asking if there is a different path ❤❤❤
How did i miss this?! Everything about this is pure perfection omggggg
OUAT mention love that!
Zena is by far one of the best adaptations of the wicked witch
I literally just watched this MV like 5 times in a row and counting Im obsessed
Glad to see one specific actress having the focus she deserve.
THIS SONG IS ON REPEAT THESE COUPLE OF DAYS LOVE THE EVOLUTIONS OF THE WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST
This song really hit home and touched me
I love the fact you added the witch from the series OUAT
❤
Tony LOVES OUAT.
