She was the Pop Diva in the early 80s. Kuh Ledesma had always jam-packed shows and concerts, where my girlfriends followed her every show esp. in top 5-star hotel lounges when she first was launched. She was in her early 20s.
Kuh Ledesma today is still that beautiful and classy as she was, considering she's in her mid 60's, like she did not aged a bit. Beautiful, classy , and a good Christian as well. Her voice is as sweet and clear as always.
Philippine music artistry is so well and deeply rooted passing from one generation to another has been handed down and upgraded to another level everytime. Philippine chorale groups are winning in world singing competitions. 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Yeah, you are right! These legendary Filipino singers like Kuh, Regine V., Leah S., Lani M., Gary V. Martin N. and a lot more are really amazing and well respected in terms of musicality and vocal dynamics. They are one of the reasons why new genaration singers are also versatile and superb❣😊
The inimitable and extraordinary singer Kuh Ledesma ( as introduced by Michel Legrand in 2002 from their PiCC concert ) and I had been a loyal fan sincenearly 80s.

React to "Diva vs. Diva: Regine Velasquez and Kuh Ledesma in a world class vocal concert treat" 2019 ASAP Natin 'To. They sang a lot of the hit songs of Kuh. I think she was 65 yrs. old at that time but she is still good
She was also a Registered Nurse before she became a diva. Her every song became a top hit here in the Philippines and also in other Asian countries during the 80s.
During my youth, Kuh Ledesma was the DIVA and I remember saving up to watch her concerts. At that time, Regine was just an emerging singer but she, Leah Salonga and Kuh were among the first few Filipino singers making a mark in the international scene.
Simply a classy pop diva in the 80s to the early 20s. Grew up admiring this elegant chanteuse and enjoying her live performances in hotel lounges and concert halls. So lover her!😘♥️👏🎶🇵🇭
Kuh Ledesma... an 8con here in our country along with so many others suggested below. Lived the 80's era!! Odette Questa also composed the most beautiful songs made popular by various artists here. She came home a few years ago from abroad and did a concert singing most of her compositions then....
I grew up listening to the standards because of my parents. That's the American influence in our music. But I also grew up listening to Dulce, Pabs Dadivas, Basil and Hajji. The New Minstrels has the most beautiful of voice, too. Then Kuh, Zsa Zsa, Regine, Gary and Martin. And yes, they all sang ballads.
Kuh has one of the nicest vocal timbre in the OPM industry. She is a very calming, pristine singer. And she is very gorgeous! Even until now, she is in her mid 60s and still, drop dead gorgeous! She is Regine's first musical influence. By the way, she is a Registered Nurse and she is one of the Uber rich celebs out there, opening her "hacienda" for medical frontliners as their quarantine facility and their home during this pandemic. She is also like our Vanessa Williams, very gorgeous woman and talented especially in singing and acting. ❤️
She was the foremost runner of the Pinoy band Music and Magic. Her real name is Maria Socorro Ledesma. She is still very active, beautiful and classy of her age today.
Story has it Odette wrote this and wanted so badly for Kuh to interpret and record as Odette's official song entry in a national songwriters competition. Kuh refused causing the teenage Odette to cry to her grandmother, who then begged Kuh to reconsider. Kuh is a goddess, a true classic.
Thank you for this reaction video. Kuh Ledesma is one of my favorite Filipino singers of all time. Odette Quesada, who has composed a number of award-winning songs, is also a singer. Pls, react to some of her performances as well.
Please do try listening to Kuh Ledesma's "DITO BA?" Kuh, by the the way, was a nurse before she became known as a singer. "Dito Ba?" was the song that brought her to fame...
Story telling. There is a need to feel what you sing as if it's happening to you. You say what you sing. You sing what you feel. It gives body and soul to the song and such connection to the audience.
OMG! my fave artist of all time :) thank you :D shes gorgeous too. love her so much. Shes also a nurse when shes not performing. Efra you were about to sing and the first notes sounded nice to me I bet you can sing well too. :)
Ah that's the voice I listened to when I wad in High Sch. She's not only pretty, butman, can she sing! I also speak the same dialect,so she became my idol.
This song is so lyrically emotional and heartfelt. One of many opm love songs that will never grow old. I bet you'll also love Regine Velazquez's rendition of this song. She makes this iconic song more iconic. 😍😍😍

A song by Odette Quesada. A lot of 80s hit song were composed by her. You can watch and do react to her performing some of her song on the wish bus "to love again" and "Friend of mine". These are just two of the hit song she composed/writen or sang by her or by some other famous filipino singers.
Hey! You have to watch the video where Kuh Ledesma and Lea Salonga singing together. Lea was a guest for Kuh's concert and she was still very young at that point, at 9 years old I think.
Kuh Ledesma has had a 35-year presence in the Philippine music industry encompassing more than 1,000 concerts worldwide, with numerous awards in the Philippines, and 20 albums in the Philippine recording industry. In 1997, she released her international debut album Precious in collaboration with a mix of American and Filipino songwriters, arrangers and musicians. Before Regine Velasquez, there was Kuh Ledesma. Kuh was the original Diva. I am no longer surprised that Waleska and Efra has immediately spotted Kuh's packaging. Kuh was a cut above the rest. Compared to her contemporaries Sharon Cuneta and Zsa Zsa Padilla who are mass market, Kuh's target market is the upper crust. I am not sure but I believe Regine's career trajectory was patterned after Kuh and then modified to cross mass market when she established herself. The song was composed by hit maker, singer-songwriter, Odette Quesada. Her hit songs includes: Friend of Mine (Odette Quesada) Don't Know What To Do (Don't Know What To Say) (Ric Segreto), To Love Again (Sharon Cuneta), Give Me A Chance (Ric Segreto), Farewell (Raymond Lauchenco), I Need You Back (Raymond Lauchenco)
I think I was just a baby when she sang this song...since then Filipinos have been singing ballad songs then it evolved to incorporate with power belting, runs, whistles, vocal squeak, etc.
before regine emerged, Kuh was the premier female singer of the land. She has an album composed entirely of American Standards from the 50s. it is an experience to listen to. i think her buggest influence is Barbra Streisand
A background on Philippine music, whilst the west had their opera, Filipinos were writing soulful *Kundiman* songs with poetic verses reminiscent of love songs, a prayer to God, or to the motherland because they've longed to be free from the oppression of the conquistadors. This is probably why they sing mostly melancholic ballad songs. Also to serenade someone, it is a tradition to sing to them under their window with a guitar and a band in the dead of night, this is called *Harana.* One of the popular song called *"Dahil Sa'Yo"* (Because of You) was also sung by Nat King Cole and Julio Iglesias. Philippine folklore music is also popular amongst international choir and chorale competitions.
Yes! I couldn't agree more. The Philippine music is so rich. Though it seems to most that we tend to emulate the western music, but the PH has a different flare or interpretation. I think that singers here are more emotive and are good storytellers, that's why we have good ballads. We are poetic and romantic. When we sing songs with good and meaningful lyrics, it's not to ride on a trend but to make timeless pieces. I guess that's why a lot of our music released then are still being covered til now, like the industry keeps bringing them back. PH youth artists are also golden! 👌
Before Kuh started her solo career, she used to be part of a group called Music and Magic where 1 of the members is Gary Valenciano’s wife, Angeli Pangilinan.
Filipinos are a very feeling people, very romantic. Traditional ballads/love songs are called KUNDIMAN. These are songs accompanied by guitars used to serenade a man's love interest called HARANA. Our language is very rich in expressing many types of feelings and emotions.
We have Repertory Philippines. Some of the pioneers are Katy Dela Cruz, Celeste Legaspi, Mitch Valdez. Lea Salonga and Monique Wilson who were the first leads of Miss Saigon were products of Rep pH.
Very good. Yes we grew up immersed in music. Till I Met You was originally composed by a Filipino singer Odette Quesada.

There is one thing most Filipino singers fear . . . and that is performing with a Filipino audience.
This song is so lyrically emotional and heartfelt. One of many opm love songs that will never grow old. I bet you'll also love Regine Velazquez's rendition of this song. She makes this iconic song more iconic. 😍😍😍
