Burgh Island Hotel has had many other famous guests and they include Winston Churchill, president Roosevelt, The Beatles, Noel Coward and George Formby plus many politicians.
The hotel is Grade II listed and is a must visit for anyone who loves the 1930's and the art deco period and its styling and glamour.

Like many locals, i've sat on that beach many times and been on the island many times, but never actually been inside the hotel. Thanks for a great insight!!!

Stayed here 16 years ago! Amazing and very unique place. Very very expensive - but our visit was for a special treat, so worth it just for 2 nights! Fond memories of Gary in the bar!!! He's a really great chap with heart of gold. On entering the Peacock Lounge he asked what we would like to drink. When I asked what was available he said don't worry about the menu - you can have ANYTHING!!! Hoping Gary is well and still charming the guests!!!

Oh, this was delightful! (I do have to agree that the Ragtime music didn't quite fit the Art Deco setting ... George Gershwin or Cole Porter would more more suitable.

Yes, 'Evil Under the Sun'. Agatha Christie was inspired to set the novel on Burgh Island and this Hotel. Also 'And Then There Were None' was inspired by the location of Burgh Island. Agatha visited often and even wrote parts of the novels at the 'beach house' separate from the hotel very near the sea.

Hate the dinning chairs ,same as you can find in many hotels or restaurants ,they should have put more thought into finding a more deco style ,the cane and tubular chairs were perfect.
