    Cool to see affordable American made edc gear. I definitely enjoy smaller light weight box cutters so handy to have. Great review 👍

    Good to see an affordable, American made tool of quality. Still EDC'ing a brass RUK version 2. Thanks for the video.

    I picked up one of these because they are the only pocket utility knife I've found with a left handed version. I really hope they start making a left handed version of the RUK V.2.

    I have a RUK ver 2.0 and recently discovered it in a drawer after being "stored" for a little while. I was disappointed to find that the tool had become difficult to operate. It was hard to slide the blade out for use and then back in again. I kept at it, and it has loosened up a bit. Same thing happend with a couple pocket Gerber Prybar utility knives. I may have to actually disassemble one of the smaller tools and see what the reason is for it's current "jammed" condition. When they work, the are pretty darn cool and handy. Many thanks.

    I recently bought a Milwaukee fastback , it is a box cutter with a switch and runs on washers....

    How much does the Gil-Tek RUK S weigh when loaded with a blade? I have a brass RUK V2 and found the weight specs listed on the Gil-Tek web site to be inaccurate. Thanks.

    What brand of utility replacement blades nails edge retention?

    So long it released V2 already 😅 perhaps u should as well review their new pocket clip which can attach to it!

    how does the blade lock in place? i wish u would have talked about that.

    • @EDCwithOkanKane
      @EDCwithOkanKane  3 роки тому +1

      Locks in from tension on the lockbar(same thing keeping it closed. When you push down and up it moves the blade around a small notch that then the blade cutouts lock around that notch. Let me know if that helps

      @@EDCwithOkanKane does it seem durable and will last for years? ive had a different brand, but similiar utility knife that i am coming from that only after maybe 1 year the blade will not hold in place anymore. sucks too because i spent i think about $90 for it. however, in the course of about 1 year and far less then 50+ or so blade changes the tension on the lock was toast! im afraid the giltek-s might have the same locking mechanism.

      As far as long term durability goes, I’d maybe suggest going for a Giltek RUK V2. The V2 is two pieces and the tension bar that keeps the blade in place is thicker, as well as, the notches that lock the blade in place are seem a tad higher. I do like the S a lot but personally at work I swap between to V2s

      @@EDCwithOkanKane Thanks for the reply bud! I recieved my Giltek S today and I am pretty much set on sending this one back. The weight of it is way too light, the materials that they picked seem cheap, and the locking mechanism is already showing wear and tear just after a handful of open and close actions. The notch that holds the blade in place does not seem like it would hold up the Test of Time. The tool is definately tiny and it is very difficult to hold when doing anything more than cutting open the tape of packages, I would not even risk trying to breakdown boxes with this thing unless you would be ok slicing up your hand by accident. I use a Milwaukee Fastback Compact Version 1 and it far surpasses this Giltek S in almost every aspect except portability.

    Does the blade edge rub when deployed and retracted?
