Just stumbled across your great channel and seeing vintage machines. Lovely to see you using your County. Brought back some wonderful memories of the two that my Dad used to run back in the 70's . I loved to go to the fields and watch them storming up and down some of our steeper land and then run to one of them as one of the men waved me across to have a ride. They were great lumbering giants of machines that just kept putting the power down, pulling their ploughs. Keep up what you are doing and using these great machines. You have a new subscriber. Thanks for a trip down memory lane
@@BusywithDrPhil Hello again Dr Phil thank you for you kind reply. In answer to your question my Dad and his Brother built the business up to what it is today of approx 3 and a half thousand acres. Sadly both no longer with us. It is still run by the family along with our sons and daughters. I am based in the beautiful area of the Vale Of The White Horse with land slipping onto the Lambourn Downs where the County tractors used to pound up and down the undulating land.My uncle farmed a little way from us on the Marlbough Downs. Again ideal for large 4 wheel drives but he ran some of the big Deeres of the 70's at the time of our county tractors. Keep Farming and I wish you a Very Happy Christmas and Happy New Year. Kindest Festive wishes to you and Your family From Farmer Mark.
@@Grandpiano3 wow, that's some estate!... It is a super area ( I used to see the White Horse from the train in a former life...) Bets wishes for Christmas to you and yours as well.
@@BusywithDrPhil Glad you know the area. Yes work takes some juggling during the busy periods. Although we manage the business under the same heading the land is split into two blocks so we have our own machinery at our respective bases. But on the odd occasion things do get borrowed and the lads do like the odd ride out as they say between bases. I forgot to say in my first post that the County tractors were "Super Sixes" and had the canvas Fitzmier cabs on them . I can picture clearly in my mind the hinged front windows open on them as they were ploughing.I used to sit on the mud guard where there was some fabricated metal that looked like the back of a seat. It gave me a clear view of the 5 furrow conventional plough that was being pulled, the make of which escapes me at the moment. To come full circle to our modern day machines, we stick with the same brand across both units to keep maintenance easier. We run Fendt tractors with one of the older type challengers based at Marlborough with the equivalent Fendt liveried one here. Harvesting is taking care of by Class Lexion Combines. Again thanks for posting great county footage. Just a thought have you got access to a plough you could try with it. That would make a great video. Kindest wishes Grandpiano3
@@Grandpiano3 I don't have a plough, but could get hold of one I'm sure. I've got a countryside stewardship scheme starting 2023, and will be sowing some herbal leys etc.. and am wondering how best to cost effectiveley establish them. Getting a plough is an option.......
What a fantastic piece of kit and thats a lovely tractor too. I much prefer pedals, levers and switches over buttons, screens and hands free any day. 👍+🔔
Another very enjoyable vid there Doc👍 just imagine seeing that back in the day when she was new. Think I’d have been sat watching it mouth open in amazement 😊
Fascinating video Dr. Phil! Lovely results. Great to see the County and the Twose at work (and with shiny windows). Very enjoyable to watch. A video featuring the controls would be nice. Happy seeing your channel growing well. Nearly 600 subscribers. Imaging, subject matter, commentary, editing ~ all first rate.
Some great activity there. Your keeping your farm in good order. Nice to see the county running smoothly. She,s well loved. Kind regards from Ireland 🇮🇪
Thanks very much. I've worked with this tractor since the 80's owned it since 2000's and known the guy who first owned it in the 70's.... so part of the family really
@@BusywithDrPhil yes I Suppose it is a modern set up it’s a 2007 model I have, it is a very heavy machine I have it a very easy to use. I love a much more update tractor but that cost money.
@@BusywithDrPhil Winters are nice but the 3 to 4 months of 36c to 40c and 99% humidity in the summers and 6 month hurricane season can be brutal at times.
Hi Dr Phil very enjoyable vid again and yes it showed how tight some of the areas where to get the tractor and hedge cutter down, and had a little chuckle at the inner JM for the window cleaning.
Hi There, it's an 1124, so would have been about 112HP at some point. I need to fish out all my old documents to try to recall what engine we fitted in the 80's.....I'm sure that was rated at over 120HP at the PTO at the time as we used to use it on a sizeable Pottinger forage harvester.
I need to piece together my information as others are also asking. But in short it was owned by a contractor that I and my old boss used to work with in the 80's. The contractor owned it and worked it from the mid 1970's. I bought it, I think in 2013. Some time after he'd retired. So it's been a real working tractor and part of the 'extended family' for many, many years.
That is a neat old tractor, what year is it? I've never heard of County over here in the states. It's great that the old girl is still running and doing work on the farm!

I love the video and the county and the hedge trimmer is a beautiful way to see vintage machinery being used
It's great to try to keep it going, but it's always a worry that something will go BANG
Great video Dr. Phill I used to find hedge trimming very therapeutic work back in the days when I was working on the farms back in the 90s
I quite like it, but it does give me neck ache.. How did you deal with that?

Hi John, yep I will. Anything in particular you're interested in?
Just about the control for it
Nice to see 2 pieces of equipment that had perfectly well matched The old county still got a good few years in a what size is it

Love that outfit it’s classic
I like a colourful boiler suit. Statement piece I think!
Awesome vid 👍it's a nice county great job on the hedge alway difficult in tight lanes would love a walk around and control's
What flails does it have?
Will do a walk around the controls as a number of people have asked. Re flails, they are single sided tooth types.. not hammers.
Love that county, is it a 954 , 1004 or 1124 ?
Ta for tuning in...it's a 1124
That is a neat old tractor, what year is it? I've never heard of County over here in the states. It's great that the old girl is still running and doing work on the farm!
Hi Eric it hit the road in about 1966. County was a uk company that converted fords (before there were commercial 4wd models) into 4wd tractors.
@Busy with Dr Phil that would explain the Ford blue!
Keep it County 🙂
Indeed!.. Thanks very much for watching...
Looks like breaking windows bloody noisy
Bet breaks don't work going down hills
Finish in the hedge 😀
The brakes are actually pretty good. But it is very noisy...
whant is the hp
Thanks for watching,
It's about 120hp
