Great review! For your information the Mag 1000 is on pen chalet, on sale, with F, M, and B nibs in black and rustic red ebonites and 9 colourful acrylics. Just ordered the red ebonite with broad nib in part because of this review. Thanks so much!
WOW! That pen looks like it ate all of the Sheaffer no nonsense pens fountain and ball point. By the way, Shaquille O' Neil called and he wants his mag 1000 back. Now that's a fountain pen! Nice video as always Dr.Brown.
Remember Stephen, Pelican Edelstein ink is quite dry. It might be best to try a wetter ink before adjusting those tines - try an Iroshizuku and see how you get on. It is a 'fine writing' pen after all.
As I hold most of my pens on the barrel or at the barrel end of the section this might be one pen where I might find it comfortable to hold it at the section.
It's almost a novelty pen with that no 10 nib. I like big pens, and I'd like to try this one, but if I had the money I'd prefer a Namiki. Size 8 nibs are plenty big enough for me.
Lol, yeah well $410 a lot of money. honestly, it's getting close to namiki territory. For a bit more, you get a gold nib AND namiki's insane build quality.
Have you eyedroppered it? mag1000 looks like a Waterman 20, but my mag600 is a terrible eyedropper -- so wet it bleeds when only half the ink is gone, worse than any other eyedropper I have. But mag1000 is ebonite like the Waterman & Namiki, and I wonder if that'd eyedropper better?
For me, I have average size hands. I have found a #8 nibs to be close to the edge for me. I do have a King of Pen which I think would be close to a #9 or a #8.5. That pen is at the limit. I think I would pass on it. Buying one just to sell it off because it would be unusable would be a waste of money. If you have a King of Pen, you can eyedropper fill it. I wouldn't let the ink sit in the pen for months as the ink may do something to the gold on the threads but I found it to be a lovely writer.
Wait just a minute here. You compared the size of this pen to a metropolitan. You compared it to a Namiki Emporer. Very common pens to compare with. But you skipped your chance to finally have a pen that could be compared to your Conway Stewart!!!
Is definitely not worth US$400 or whatever you mentioned! It's a no character big dumb pen in my opinion! Besides, the nib writes like Sh*t from what I can see with no tuning from the factory. Btw, the Japanese Platinum fountain pens have that heart shaped nib hole on a much much nicer looking nib! Not sure if Magna Carta copied it from the Japanese!
Clearly you have a great knowledge of fine fountain pens. Your reviews are helpful and informative. However, I would respectfully suggest that the silliness and cute remarks detract from your ability to educate.
Disagree. His reviews are light, fun, AND educational. There are plenty of “serious” reviewers out there and not everything needs to be so formal and uptight. 🤷🏻♂️
@@monkpato Good Morning, umm Im here (or was here) to watch a pen review channel, perhaps you could start your own channel, just go buy Chinese pens for under 10 bucks, then proceed to diss them, then you will find more expensive pen makers will send you pens, which all you do is gush over them and then you get sent more expensive pens from other makes, then the odd bad review of a Chinese pen. Psychology.

1215 is the year that the Magna Carta was agreed to by King John of England.
That IS a big nib! Thanks, Stephen.

What a beast... thanks for the review, Stephen.
There's also the Kanwrite Mammoth with a #9 nib that's reasonably affordable.
Love the idea of all these pens with bigger nibs. I have a few with number 8 size nibs and I think they work well for me, a left handed underwriter.

Excellent review. Glad to have found your channel. Subscribed !
As usual, I enjoyed your review very much. Maybe even a little more than usual. Thanks!
Thank you for this great review of a great pen!
Magna Carta signed on June 15, 1215.

Nice review. Can you use a neutral 18% grey background. I think you are using white and that causes the camera to under expose.
Wow! this pen is for Gulliver! Thanks for sharing
Kanwrite mamath Big # 10. Puts out a lot of ink . Around $100.00 or a little bit more
I was surprised that with such a huge nib it doesn’t flood the page with ink. It’s interesting to use but I do use mine daily.
Next time you come to a oen meet, please let me try that pen!
What about eyedropping it, Stephen?
A perfect pen for those occasions when too much isn't enough. Like when the day ends with Y.

Does nib size defines smooth writing?
But how does it sit in a shirt pocket?
Magna Carta logo is pretty similar to Real Madrid football club.
serious nibbage indeed 🙂
Neil deGrasse Tyson had a FP interview a while back and he has very large hands. He would most likely post this pen.
I think it should be bigger.

Good review of questionable product. 450, hahaha looks as elegant as the pipe in my toilet.

Are you imagining things. He clearly says it writes well.
It sounds scratchy and it skips.
He doesn't elaborate on what he means by "pleasant writer"
@@nitin6616 that looks pretty dry to me :s I k ow Magna Carta are trying hard, but I also know ow there are inconsistencies

I just want a pen reviewer to have nice handwriting, too much to ask!!??
I think it’s because very often they’re trying to write around the tripod of the camera
Not watched yet, but guess(psychology;) from the thumb nail it's another $100+ 'freebe'. Let the gushing begin...
@limmoblack why are you here?
