I can perfectly picture Suwako singing this to Sanae as a story of the past, from way before she came to Gensokyo from the outside world, especially knowing that the Moriya shrine was also from outside. The story of the husband dying in battle was pretty cool too, ngl

that mix of 凛として咲く花の如く and 拍手喝采歌合 along with native faith was so bamboozled when I saw native faith as the original song and kept looking through my other native faith songs to see which match the tunes from this song only to find that the reference was not from the touhou franchise at all
Fr i've been absolutely enraptured by this song these last few weeks. The vocals are just so raw and paired with those instrumentals just invoke some kind of feeling within me. 10/10 for sure.
I've heard the call for a translation, so I procure: Once upon a time, in ancient Suwa, a tale of interspecies marriage was told, The story of the Moriya god's children, hidden in the shadow of the "transfer of the country". In times when gods still existed, ruling over Moriya, stood A girl not yet of age, a festival deity who called herself "King". She, who manipulates the great snake that creates disasters, Says, "I am bored," showing a colorless face. She asks, "What is happiness?" "Is it better not to know, or is it something unattainable?" Her attendants hesitate to speak; the girl appraises him with her eyes, Their gaze piercing coldly, the attendants drown in sweat. "Life and death" are seen as "statistics", even if the "god's" wishes are granted, But they fall short of "happiness", only boredom passes by. Into the frozen happiness, an east wind of thaw blows, A man who exchanges vows with the successive attendant deity. An unrecorded person in the annals, but she feels "happiness" for the first time with him. The red cheeks, betraying the anxious eyes of those worrying about the end, Her adoring eyes, like those of a girl her age. She drowns in devoted love, almost like a human, But if it is to end someday, then may that purity be strong, ever so strong... The vibrant picture scrolls speak of those times, The world that colored her, led her to blindness. Everyone recognized the euphoria, but time would not permit, When she secretly bore a life within, the overture of war resounded. Though it was easy to resist the merging claims of that country, The faces of those she worried about appeared, guilt and concern growing within her. Without saying "see you again", he disappeared, his back set on protecting the country and going to war, Amidst the anxiety, the news she received was "He died in the war".

@@w3t_wlpes i actually had done that translation a good minute (like a couple of years) before this one LOL, the english is less accurate comparatively
8 months late lol but ironically the two are very different pieces thematically. This song tells a story of Suwako falling in love and the death of the man being tragic. In TTWC she got... raped... But TTWC is beautiful. Probably my favorite Touhou doujin of all time. And this is one of my favorite Touhou doujin songs.
I really wish this song had proper translations. For people who don’t know japanese, the general context of this song is a story from long before, the divine story of suwako moriya and her husband who went to war. The ending of the song hits hard when you realise what the final line is, and then the video flashes black before the melody bursts. the artwork that looks like a menacing moriya almost seems to look like moriya is about to cry
Damn brother thank you for shining some light on this I didn't know jack about this, on a side note I like the little observations you made (they changed my view on the mural of the video), besides all that good rest of your day whenever you are reading this and best of wishes brother.

Touhou has the best music of any series I've seen
I can perfectly picture Suwako singing this to Sanae as a story of the past, from way before she came to Gensokyo from the outside world, especially knowing that the Moriya shrine was also from outside. The story of the husband dying in battle was pretty cool too, ngl
Don't suppose you know where I could find the lyrics?

i have this song on loop everyday since i found it
I've heard the call for a translation, so I procure:
Once upon a time, in ancient Suwa, a tale of interspecies marriage was told,
The story of the Moriya god's children, hidden in the shadow of the "transfer of the country".
In times when gods still existed, ruling over Moriya, stood
A girl not yet of age, a festival deity who called herself "King".
She, who manipulates the great snake that creates disasters,
Says, "I am bored," showing a colorless face.
She asks, "What is happiness?"
"Is it better not to know, or is it something unattainable?"
Her attendants hesitate to speak; the girl appraises him with her eyes,
Their gaze piercing coldly, the attendants drown in sweat.
"Life and death" are seen as "statistics", even if the "god's" wishes are granted,
But they fall short of "happiness", only boredom passes by.
Into the frozen happiness, an east wind of thaw blows,
A man who exchanges vows with the successive attendant deity.
An unrecorded person in the annals, but she feels "happiness" for the first time with him.
The red cheeks, betraying the anxious eyes of those worrying about the end,
Her adoring eyes, like those of a girl her age.
She drowns in devoted love, almost like a human,
But if it is to end someday, then may that purity be strong, ever so strong...
The vibrant picture scrolls speak of those times,
The world that colored her, led her to blindness.
Everyone recognized the euphoria, but time would not permit,
When she secretly bore a life within, the overture of war resounded.
Though it was easy to resist the merging claims of that country,
The faces of those she worried about appeared, guilt and concern growing within her.
Without saying "see you again", he disappeared, his back set on protecting the country and going to war,
Amidst the anxiety, the news she received was "He died in the war".
👑homie you dropped something

OK but what is the original song?
I've been listening to this daily for one week straight now
Same. I don't even know if it's Touhou related, nor I don't even know what Touhou is all about, all I know is Touhou is a bullet hell game.

My favourite video on this platform. This arrangement helped me through my dark moments in life.
I'm truly indebted to you. I'm not trying to dampen the mood, but thank you from the bottom of my heart.
