The first pillar section isn’t completely empty. There are actually a couple of hard to spot spooky faces that seem to be remnants of the last screamer of the original collab level. This might be why it tells you to “LOOK CLOSELY”. You can see these if you turn full brightness or if you look into the editor without preview mode.
I know i'm 3 months late, shut up While i agree with most things you said about the halloween update, i feel very differently about the original level. The main reason why i don't agree with most thing you said about the original is that collab level was NOT a horror level, it was a screamer, and i think those are two very different things. Horror levels want to scare the player/viewer in actually meaningful ways, like building tension and subverting expectations (which the update does amazingly) screamers on the other hand don't want to scare the player/viewers but startle them, and that's what the original collab level was for, and i think it did that masterfully. I watched collab level on the first premier on mindcaps channel, so i didn't know anything, and the first jumpscare actually got me, it succeeded at what it wanted to do. The rest of the level is just an extension to the first scare, it builts tension just so it can startle the viewer, and on some that might work, and on some it might not. I personally think the other jumpscares do what they were supposed to do masterfully, maybe with a couple of exceptions, those being the second jumpscare which relies purely on audio (the visuals just aren't scary), and the last one cause it's just way too predictable. I think both version of the level try to do very different things and i don't think they can really be compared to each other as the same thing. Overall great videos, i'm for sure gonna be checking your other stuff later. edit: oh and also the first jumpscare is taken straight from spooky's jumpscare mansion, and i'm pretty sure the last one is taken from something as well, not 100% sure
I personally don’t like the new update as much as the original, because the scares and screamers were kinda what made the level good imo. Because it got rated before the Halloween update came, it made it cool that some graphic level could get rated. Also, the new parts make the level really unbalanced, making it kinda unfun. If I haven’t saw the original, this update would have been better imo.
Tbh my least favorite part about the level now is that the song isn’t the same one anymore it doesn’t have the voice and is instead an 8 bit version. Does anyone know why this is?
