Greetings from just South of Seattle, Washington. I love this music. A Tokelauan man, a deck hand I worked with on a fishing boat in Nome, Alaska back in the 90's was playing the most beautiful music one night from the "slack shack", where the deck hands went to chill after their watch. I followed the music to where Kalapo was. He was kind enough to let me join him for a listen. And the next night, and the next... I couldn't get enough of it. When the time came to go home he gave me a cassette tape to take with me. I played that tape until it broke. So if anyone in the Tokelau islands ever sees Kalapo, please tell him hello from galley Gail. And I'm still loving this music.
Hello there i belive the man you are talking about is my cousin kalapu peato he is also living in Seattle im not sure if he still works on the boats hes a big strong man yet humble and gentle.
My mother named my son Tonuia her only brother. Then told me the story of who Tonuia the first settler of Atafu. I am humble to say that I am of his direct decendant.
Ko Tonu ia I falefitu Nonu ma alo I falefa Takoto kava i faleiva Ko palega o fenua Tokelau o Kaimoana kaimoana faiva e ifo ki tupua Kana kamata mai ki taua I na mulipapa e Ke tau kite takele moana e

I feel like they're singing a goodbye song to the islands who are slowly drowning due to global warming. Very heartbreaking
Etol Ituat very true :(
That's one way to put it
Her mother passed away
WITH ALL DUE RESPECT OTABLU BUT GLOBAL WARMING IS THE GREATEST FRAUD THATS BEEN PERPETRATED ON MANKIND THIS CENTURY.
We were told it was sinking how many years ago? Truth is nz wants these islands for themselves.
