What do you use to prime your eyes?
I typically use a concealer (like Tarte shape tape) and I set that with a translucent powder.
Everybody has their own idea and opinion about all products. No brand can please 100% of the people 100% of the time. That's not possible.
I still like the Urban Decay Naked Ultraviolet pallet and your application of the various shades is stunning. You may not think so but I love it.
Please continue to showcase the multiple pallets we are all fortune enough to purchase. I love the variety of brands crwated by the multitude of makeup artists. How lucky are we to be so blessed with the quality of beauty products in the retail market today. 😃😃
I think Urban Decay sticks to the idea that their "Naked" line of palettes are sheer, rather than pigmented, since Naked palettes are supposed to be more soft and natural for everyday wear. With the bold palettes coming out in the market today, they're all almost super pigmented to the point of being opaque, so we were used to those formulas, forgetting the more subtler formulas of eyeshadows. Maybe this palette was formulated for people who would like to try on color but are not as brave and willing to put on a super bold one.
My guess is, the naked line remained true to their original formulas? I dunno hahaha. Anyway, you nailed the look perfectly, Angela, you always make even the shittiest palette work! 🤩
Hear me out, here. I agree that it isn’t crazy pigmented, but I do love it. I agree with Mel Thompson’s assessment that it’s better for people dipping their toes into color. I think we have all gotten used to intense pigments like ABH and Natasha Denona. Ultraviolet is more subtle. I still think your look is great and I love all of your tutorials- always so thorough and detailed. ❤️
I totally agree and I should've mentioned that in the video. If someone wants a little bit of purple, then it could work for them
You know, I’ve always really liked how you film your tutorials, eye videos close up, because when something is patchy we can actually see it. When I was newer to makeup and eyeshadow and I would watch videos, I would hear people say something was patchy but to me it looked perfect, so I find it super helpful that yours are close up. Anyway, that was just a thought I had. I think it looks really beautiful on you, but I totally see what you’re saying about how it’s really an unremarkable palette. Certainly not what you would be expecting from a palette that has ultraviolet in the name. Too bad, because there is so much potential. Oh hey!!! So, I am in the middle of cleaning out one of my bookcases so I can keep all of my palettes in it, I love the way yours looks like that and much prefer being able to see them all instead of going digging. Great idea, so thank you!!! Love love!

You are right, I could clearly see that patch on the outer corner and the pigment is not intense enough.
The palette would also benefit from a darker mate purple shade and, of course, from a black shade to add some depth.
It's a shame because the concept of the palette is beautiful and it could have been something pretty special...

I have this pallet and I love it but I am 60 ,so I don’t like my eyes too heavy.It gives me a really nice look.

Urban Decay has AMAZING pigment. I’m an old school UD fan and I have vintage UD shadow that are still thick n poppin. UD started changing their formula and made it thinner and some mattes seem chalky sometimes, but that’s only since the Naked palettes came out. Their original baked formula for individual shadows is still being used. You convinced me to pick up this palettes because I want sheer purples for autumn as emoliente bases to add either golds/oranges to or add greens/teams to. Your trash my treasure
Hazel Lopez I’m an old school UD fanatic as well, I literally have ALL of their palettes starting with Book of Shadows II, and UD is my treasure as well. That being said, I have to say that they majorly screwed up on this palette. Seriously. The formula in this is so cheap and so bad. It’s not like these can even be used sheer. They’re just garbage, which makes me sooooo sad. I pull out my Smoked palette or my Black palette and swoon. Then I pull out this one and cry. They just put the nail in the coffin of their best product-eyeshadow. And it’s not like I can say well, purples ARE harder to formulate, cuz even the peachy shades in this are trash. So sad cuz I was SO excited for the colors in this! Even bad drugstore eyeshadow performs better than this. Sorry, but I thought I’d warn you so you could save your money. I kept mine only cuz I bought it from UD’s website and it’s too much trouble to return it. The gorgeous packaging and the brush are literally the only good things about this. Only the green shade “Lucid” is remotely usable. I couldn’t even make this work with a wet brush, it’s that bad 😕

Wow, I totally disagree on UD not having the best shadows. I'm obsessed with UD's shadows and the pigmentation. I think because this is from the naked line, they are going a bit lighter with the colors for more wearable eye looks. I personally think it turned out beautifully. As for the patchyness its possible because you layerd too many colors in the same spot. With out the aid of the primer, you were basically blending it away.

This palette is actually wonderful when you use a wet base. Don’t set your primer/concealer and they work beautifully! The shadows are also better using your finger for application. I love this look 💗
I ordered this palette and then searched for reviews on this palette. Thats how I found your channel! I was let down by the review so I got the palette and tried a purple look as well and I FEEL THE SAME AS YOU. I ended up removing my whole eye look and using a different palette I am so disappointed in it! Thank you for an honest review. I subscribed to your channel and have been watching your other reviews your amazing and I wish I would have seen your review before I went out and bought this. I could have saved 40 something bucks if I would have done my research before buying this.

Naked Honey is another great palette. I actually want this palette tho because I never wear color especially purple so I feel like I'll prefer a more sheer formula! Everyone has different taste tho! Especially since I'll probably use only 1 purple shade at a time I'm not too risky with my makeup 😂
Dose of colors marvelous mauves is a wonderful purple pallet. It’s all mattes but they blend like a dream and you can really build up the intensity.

Angela you need to get the Juvias place “the violets” mini palette. They’re cool toned purples. You love purple I think you’ll love it!
I'm wondering if this was meant to be a palette with more washes of purple to keep it 'wearable.' Andrea Matilliano (sorry if I misspelled it) warned her people that if people wanted something like that, this could work, but noted it wasn't high on pigment.

I have all of the Naked palettes and I love purple, so I was excited to get this one. It does take some building up, but I really loved the looks I've done with it. The purples with the peaches are a lovely combo and the aqua shade and the other duo chrome shade are fun. I'd love to see you do another look with this palette!

Finally! An honest review of this pallette! I bought the pallette, after watching a few reviews and am massively disappointed. The shadows fade away, even with primer. Super dusty shadow payoff and expensive considering the quality of the packaging is higher than the quality of the shadows 🤔

I got it today and I loooovvvveeee it. It packed on very well for me and is super pigmented. The brush kt came with is great too. It might have just been some of them aren't good and some are.
Urban Decay Naked palettes were one of my first used, and have not been the best for me. I find more pigment in others. So you're on point! And I'd want this one too!!

I am not surprised. The colors in the pan are pretty, but the palette needs a deep matte to anchor things. That was stunning how much you had to add, and still couldn't get payoff.

This eye look is stunning on you! I know there’s competing reviews on this palette but this look is solid and spot on! Initially, I didn’t want this palette now...hmmm. Lol, I do not need a purple palette but it’s pretty!😊keep up the good work!
Just remember she had to fuss with the shadows a ton and dip in a zillion times to even get THAT. You literally can't get any deeper in color than what she worked so hard to manage. You're way better off with something else for purple!

Girl, I have become a Sigma eyebrush freak! I have purchased sooooo many of them. As for this Naked palette..... on the fence. I have an over abundance of palettes... only one Naked though...the Smokey, I think. UPDATE: You, along with a few others, changed my mind. No way am I spending that kind of money during these turbulent times on a subpar payoff. I just purchased the Morphe 39S Such a Gem (on sale) and it is by far one of the best Morphe I own. Was very surprised by it.

“urban decay doesn’t have the best eye shadow formula out there” that’s so sad to hear but you’re so right. They USED to - i’ve been using UD since the ammo palette and Book of Shadows and man those palettes were great. Sellouts 😔
Thanks for your honesty. If you want a more deep purple, I recommend the one on ABH Riviera palette! It’s very pigmented and easy to blend 🌺

Yep, this is the video I’ve been waiting for! Angela, watching you, with your incredible talent, struggle to make that palette work, was enough to convince me I don’t need it. And I love purples. Naked Cherry and Born to Run are incredible. Hard to believe this one’s from the same company. I would also love to see a vid with your fave purple palettes! 💜

Yeah they keep disappointing me over and over. Purple is so hard to formulate, and UD has done pretty poorly of late. This does not surprise me in the least
I found most of the colors in the Cherry palette too similar and it was hard to get any definition between the shades.
@@martibarclay855 yup. They looked different in the pan, but with no pigment, there was no difference between any of them in application. It was so sad
The only palette I actually liked by UD was the Kristen Leanne’s Kaleidoscope Dreams. The purple shade DYE in the palette is the closest to purple I’ve come to like. It was so pigmented and shimmery. I ended up buying 3 of them because I was such a fan. Not sure what happened to the formula after that...
They have same texture as Chanel eyeshadow quads. Very beautiful sheer result with a brush, always looks classy. But if you take sponge-tip brush..you get the real pigment your finger picks up. The best brushes for these formulas are white goat or the fluffy in the palette for subtle blending. Love the palette tho.
I believe it's not so intense because it's "Naked." If it's really pigmented then it's not naked. Just my thought. Also the shimmers in this palette SERIOUSLY do not go well over the mattes. Could be you're having a hard time getting the shimmer into the crease part of your outer v because you went over where you'd just put the matte pastel shade.
I just played with mine last night and I’m usually an Urban Decay FANATIC. But this palette really hurt my heart. I feel like I had to go over each color a million times. And then I ended up even dipping into the Heat palette because the dark brown in the Ultraviolet just wasn’t doing it for me. It sucks because I SO wanted to love this.
As always you make everything work, the look came out beautiful! But I can see what you say about the lack of vibrancy in the shadows. 💕💜
It's ok if you don't like it ,but it's supposed to be a naked palette because not every one wants to wear bright colors, the idea it's to be soft and natural. If you like super bright color go with other brands but don't say that it's a bad palette because it does work for others.

The only UD palettes I like are the Born To Run and the Honey palette. Both of those are amazing.

I love this look!!! But I can see why you're torn about it. I think the Rimmel Electric Violet would be a good dupe, and cheaper too. I think you could pull this look off pretty much with that palette as well.

So, I was very excited when UD came out with this palette. I’m a HUGE PURPLE fan... And I wanted to get it at ULTA Beauty on 07/05, but now that I see the colors, they are not really ultra or violet at all... The patchiness is a no, no in my book and when this goes on sale I might buy it but for now I’ll stick with Juvia’s Place Violets palette because the colors are actually purple. I do like the shade V. R. because I just became a Rose gold fan, other than that I’ll wait for this to go on sale... You did a great job with the application but I do agree with you that the pigment I’m used to with UD is just not there.
So with that said..why would you even bother to buy this palette on sale if you already said you didn't like how patchy they perform. It makes no sense to waste your money on it knowing how crappy it is. 🤷🏼

Hmmm. You can definitely see the patches on camera. The Bloodlust pallet has stunning purples and the formulas are amazing! It's my fave purple palette ever. I still feel you would love it :) It looks like they are trying to replicate it. And failed!

I also noticed that there was patchiness in the inner corner as well before you added the deeper purple shade. I was SO stoked for this pallet when I first saw it in trendmood’s posting but now it’s meh like you say. I honestly would buy the pallet just for LUCID. That would be the ONLY reason why. I really want that shade just on its own.

I'm obsessed with purple eyeshadow I was so excited to get this but it's not urban decay quality. The pigments or like cheap eyeshadow. They don't blind well either. I was so disappointed and I've never been disappointed with urban decay.

This is a really great pallet!!! You just want super loud colors, people want to see you, not your eye shadow 5 miles before tou enter the room. Its like lipstick, Or better yet, perfume. No one wants to be around someone who smells like they took a bath in the perfume or cologne they have on.
Let your eyes talk for themselves, you'd be amazed at the results.

It needs a deep shaded matte for the purple and neutral sides and that I think would redeem it. But I stopped buying the UD shadows bc ive been spoiled w consistent quality from other brands.

I don’t think I need this one. I am just starting out doing more bolder looks and things that require more skill. I love your videos over other UA-camrs. They’re so easy to follow. I did the gold/brown sunset look from the LA Cover Shot palette and I loved it. I am not good at coming up with looks on my own yet.

Would you consider posting a photo of these colors against some other purple palettes? That lavender shade looks the exact same as the huda beauty mercury retrograde and I dont have either to see before I pick one! I've been on the hunt for a lavender

I'm surprised you haven't tried Jeffree Star's Blood Lust Palette yet! It's so beautiful and it's Purple. The eyeshadows are beautiful I think but I would really love to see a first impression video on it and what you think..cuz you already know the pigment is gonna be there and how great his formulas are!
