My wife is an RN and says you are supposed to use a "filter needle" to make sure you don't draw any glass.
If you draw from a glass ampoule, you have to use a filter straw. The microglass is real.

You use your dose and discard the rest. It’s single use. I know to many it’s like liquid gold. If you have a tiny amount ask your doctor to prescribe a multi dose vial

It just takes the right technique which is away from you. Some ampules can’t be opened by snapping and require a device to file it.
I'm Indian so I can answer this, I used the above technique and sucessfully snapped two ampoules when my first try today, I tried to snap it away from my body and it ended up bleeding my thumb, so later today I learnt this method and safely snapped them without any use of aids, though they can be used.
