    I was going to get the Majority Tuner, I had one before but I need a CD player too rather then having to rely on my PC one as My Sony Blu ray needs an HDMI channel on its own and that means I can't have the PC on while am listening to a CD so be nice to have a built in CD player too, less wires and plugs the better. My only grilpe is the CD player dosen't have a drawer in case it gets stuck inside.

    Look’s nice and well set out but ..
    more companies need to give more alarm options as two alarm settings is not enough in my house. We have the four alarm settings. This works great as alarm 1 & 2 is for the main alarm Monday to Friday & next is if it’s your Saturday shift and #4 is for a Sunday shift. It give’s me so many options from waking up to the Digital Radio or an alarm tone what day it will sound, and at what volume it will sound when the alarm goes off. Time’s have changed and more and more companies have started to use the Continental shift system & this really needs the extra options. I really like the sound and options but i need to check on the future proofing of this system.

    Looking at the very small power unit, no way will you get 120 watts from it. In fact, the power unit is only rated at 36 watts max. A hell of a long way from 120 watts. More like 10 watts per channel on a good day.

    • @robinthereviewer6019
      @robinthereviewer6019  Рік тому +3

      Hi @MichaelBeeny I think you have completely misunderstood audio wattage which for a given system can be 8 to 10 times more than the input electrical power. I suggest you do some Googling before making further incorrect assumptions about the unit!

    • @MichaelBeeny
      @MichaelBeeny Рік тому +1

      If you think this unit gives 120 watts, you my friend needs to return to school, but then if you actually measured it you would know rather than just quote manufactures proper gander. @@robinthereviewer6019

      @robinthereviewer How can Watts out be greater than Watts in? I mean Watts are Watts regardless of whether they're AC Watts, DC Watts or audio Watts.

      @@stevesmyth4982 and @MichaelBeeny
      I totally agree with both of you.
      Some manufacturers claim "peak watts", "music power", "audio watts" or "peak envelope power", all of which may be vastly inflated and do not represent real power.
      These quite often rely upon measurements of a single wave peak or transient.
      So yes, achieving such a grand power for that instant may indeed be possible.
      However, it cannot be sustained for any appreciable amount of time and so it does not represent true power output.
      These sorts of measurement claims were debunked, and in fact were made *illegal* as advertising claims in the USA almost 50 years ago (but kindly don't take my word for it, see below).
      Here is an entertaining recent presentation on the subject of amplifier power- ua-cam.com/video/K4MDLi-ooBo/v-deo.html
      And here is a more technical reference that also cites the Federal Trade Commission ruling in 1974 (the "Amplifier Rule") as well as some interesting background- en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_power
      Mind you, despite all of this I am NOT knocking the review (or reviewer) of the receiver, nor the receiver itself.
      It seems like a very well-built product, and is actually quite interesting.
      I would love to have one in fact.
      I suspect that it may sound very nice with its 4" drivers and separate 6" woofer.
      And 20 or 30 watts of total RMS output power packed into such a small system would be extremely impressive..!
      Not to mention LOUD.
      However, 3.3x the true output power of its input?
      Not a chance.

      Hi Robert, it is a great unit and unfortunately there aren't any alternatives that pack in the same functionality, so I would hold out to see if they come back in to stock at Majority. Have you contacted them to see when they will have more? I may be able to get hold of one. Where are you located?

    Looks like external speakers can not be connected? I do wish that hifi systems would make the most used button (volume) BIG, why is it always so so small on the remotes?

    • @robinthereviewer6019
      @robinthereviewer6019  Рік тому

      No, there are no outputs as the unit has its own built in speakers which are excellent. There is a large volume knob on the front of the unit. The remote is fairly standard for this type of device.

      @@robinthereviewer6019 I have a powered Logitech subwoofer with separate stereo speakers which has a 3.5mm jack plug that connects it to devices with a 3.5mm jack socket. So, I presume you could connect this to the Majority via the Majority's headphone socket?

    • @robinthereviewer6019
      @robinthereviewer6019  Рік тому +1

      @@Den_UA-cam_handle_bullshit you could indeed use the headphone socket. Unless you have a specific reason to not use the inbuilt speakers I would give them a good listen first as I found them incredibly good quality and very solid.

      @@robinthereviewer6019 I'm only considering buying the Majority so haven't heard it yet. I previously used a Logitech Squeezebox Boom for years but that has sadly died. It's a shame nobody seems to make anything similar to that.. it also played music from my NAS drive. Anyway, that also had its own speakers like the Majority but I connected it with the Logitech sub and speakers for the bass and the much wider soundstage (the speakers could be placed many feet apart)

      Hi, you can use the EQ function to control the equalization including the bass. The My EQ setting allows you to customize the treble and bass if you don't find a preset that suits your needs. You can find out more in the online manual here: www.majority.co.uk/user-manual/quadriga-user-manual/

    Can you yous Bluetooth head phones

    • @robinthereviewer6019
      @robinthereviewer6019  Рік тому

      Hi Chris, thanks for your question. As far as I can tell the Bluetooth is only one way, so the Quadriga is the receiver and will amplify and play out of it's speakers, and display the track information for what is playing on the device it is paired with, but not the other way around. To do that you would need a commonly available bluetooth sender (look up Trond on Amazon) and plug that into the headphone socket on the Quadriga and set it to TX. You can then listen on Bluetooth headphones to anything which you are playing on the Quadriga. I hope that helps?

    Be careful about what? Its protected by a metal grille! A bit expensive considering a cheap Alexa device connected to a decent pair of speakers and a Spotify account will do most that this unit does.

    • @robinthereviewer6019
      @robinthereviewer6019  Рік тому +3

      But an Alexa and speakers won't give you CD audio / CD data playback, FM, DAB, DAB+ or optical in. So I still believe it is a very comprehensive audio player for the money and all in one unit with a single power cable and nothing else to worry about and includes a decent remote control.

    • @robertlonergan9401

      @@robinthereviewer6019 A good smart speaker and a Spotify account gives you immediate access to the biggest CD collection on the planet and almost every radio station that broadcasts on the internet. FM is over,done! Optical in is superfluous. The difference in price is amazing also.

      Hi, if you add together a decent pair of speakers, a subwoofer, a CD player, a radio with FM and DAB, an internet radio player plus a Spotify Connect device then you are looking at less than £50 for each. To have them all together in one stylish unit is a bonus and you get a single remote to control them all, so a bargain really. Bose would charge more than this for just the speaker.
