Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Always wanted to find an easy explanation on how to paint copper. And at the end of the video you have us the color mixing instructions. Love your channel, am a fan!! God bless.
Wow this is great! The brush strokes simulate the hammered texture. That's a great formula and very generous of you to share. I've never used oils (only watercolor) but I love copper so much - it's amazing how these simple opaque paints can give the illusion of metal. I'm enjoying your videos very much and am learning a lot!
Thanks so much! You could potentially use the same colors/pigments to do this in watercolor...just start with the highlight and work back towards the darks. :)
Thanks for watching! You can approximate Cad Yellow Deep with a light yellow mixed with the tiniest bit of red. If you are looking to buy an alternative, try Permanent Yellow Deep (PY110) or Hansa Yellow Deep (PY65).
An approximation of Burnt Sienna can be made by adding a tiny touch of blue and/or black to any orange. You're better off buying a tube though if you can since Burnt Sienna is such a useful color. Thanks for watching! :)
I can't really answer that, but I do know that copper panels are used for oil paintings so it needs some sort of primer to prepare it first. Not sure what that would be for jewelry... :)
Though I don't paint metals, I find these videos interesting and very useful to find out how to mix and blend different colors. Thank you for all your great information!
I'm kind of new at this, but here it goes ... : ) I've seen other utube videos in which the artist has - let's say - burn umber on one end of a paint strip and white on the other end. The artist will then make a graduated mixture of both colors across the strip making it look like a continuum (or spectrum, if you will) between both colors. By the way, I really learned a lot from your roses, gold, copper, and silver videos and I used your advice in my composition - I am very grateful Mr. Walcott, you are very kind in sharing your knowledge.
@@pepeaguilar2205 OK I think I know what you're talking about! That isn't really a technique that I use or is typically used in traditional oil painting. I've seen it mostly done with acrylics for one stroke flower painting. There are probably artists on UA-cam way better qualified than I am to show that method. :)
I apologize for the delay in my response. Thank you very much Mr. Walcott - I love your videos. I am sure I'll come up with more questions in the future and I hope you do not mind. Thanks again!
Thanks for watching! Burnt Sienna is a very unique color. It would be hard to "make" it. If you can, you'd be better off buying a tube of it. Earth colors are pretty inexpensive. If that is not an option, then you could try mixing a little red with the Umber. Plain Burnt Umber won't capture copper's reddish orange tone.
Walcott Fine Art I completely agree with Burnt Sienna being unique. I feel I can mix a Yellow Ochre or Burnt Umber from Burnt Sienna, but I can't mix a Burnt Sienna from Burnt Umber.
I love this painting and video 😍😊😊
Awesome and nice !!
Thanks for watching and for the nice comment! :)

No, Sweetie, how do I get acrylic paint to stick to my copper wire art jewelry?😢😮😅😂😂😂😂😂???
I can't really answer that, but I do know that copper panels are used for oil paintings so it needs some sort of primer to prepare it first. Not sure what that would be for jewelry... :)
What kind of paper do u use
Thanks for watching! I am using the canvas pads from Fredrix here. It's basically sheets of primed canvas in a pad form.
