SNSD debuted when BOY GROUPS dominated the kpop industry, hence they were given the group name “Girls’ Generation” and yes, they lived up to their name, bagged awards left and right against big boy groups before and they became the blueprint of most girl groups now adays. I didn't see them until 2010, and I was introduced to them by the Japanese K-pop fans, but I instantly became an SNSD fan. Fun fact they where popular in 2007/08 with multipe hits including intw, girls generation, kissing you all from there debut studio album, but it wasent till they hit it big with Gee when they gained massive momentum and claimed the top spot of being the biggest girl group in K-pop during that time. Like quite literally blasted to the top, gee went number 1 and become best song of the decade in Korea in the last year of the decade, there only true rivals during that time was wonder girls, brown eyed girls and Kara matching them with there big hits nobody, abracadabra and honey. 2ne1, Tara and FX (there own sistar group) would debut in 2009, sistar and miss a would debut in 2010 and make for good competition in snsds later years but during 2007/08/09 these 4 girl groups ruled K-pop at that time and broke down boundaries that not alot of girl groups could before hand espically at a time where it was the market for K-pop was geared towards more boy groups then anything. SNSD in particular would carry out the forgoing of larger K-pop groups in K-pop and make it a trend for larger groups to become a thing, SNSD would also pioneer photo cards and make them mainstream in K-pop merch.

One thing I like about SNSD is that they maintain that duality-they do the cute, fun songs AND the “stomp on your face” girl-crush songs. “Oh!” and “Run Devil Run” kind of epitomise that since their videos tie together. They have developed a more mature sound, but they don’t shy away from the feel-good concepts.

Into the new world has actually been sung in multiple protests in south korea from student to lgbt+ as a way to show unity and as a way to say "we'll get through the bad times together and have a brighter future". There's a video of a protest of students from Ewha students, ewha is an all women college, singing the song before the police went forward with a crackdown of the protest in 2016. The girls were protesting the actions of the head of the college and the sexism still present in the college.
Taeyeon at 15 was in on a veteran singer album and her coach, The One, so yeah even young Taeyeon got massive potential and it was her Ost that got a massive hit first before Gee blew up its fitting that in INTW she was on the plane that flew in the end like how she's the one carrying SNSD musically during the group's hiatus.
