I swapped the little plastic edge and put in a bit of bio sponge, makes a great difference.

I have one large Fluval breeder box and I think it's mediocre at best. The water becomes stagnant too quickly, and the it's also colder than the tank water is. To improve it, I put in an airstone through the hole in the lid, and also use a tiny 5 watt heater. The heater cord prevents the lid from sitting correctly, though. (Obviously, I have to monitor the temp carefully so it doesn't cook the babies.)
Also, the plastic pieces that go under it to keep it level broke off, so now I have to use a sponge to keep it level.
For use in a regular bedroom situation, it's too likely to drip water onto the floor for my taste. In a fish room with cement floors, you don't care about such spills. Next, I'm going to try the Ziss product.
I'm not a true fish breeder, but my fish just keep breeding on their own! My bristlenose plecos and corydoras won't stop! It's crazy. My peacock gudgeons just spawned and they're not even old enough to tell their sexes yet.
And then there are the mystery snails, the guppies, and the platys. Someone's always making babies around here!
Maybe it's the Portland, Oregon water 🤷‍♀️.
    Thanks for the video!

Congrats on all the breeding. and i do agree with you on most of your points there. I myself dont use ZIss tumblers but i do use there boxes. they do collect crap in the flow ports but if you keep them clean and dont over feed they work great.

Thank you for replying to my comment 😊! I'm impressed that you took the time👍.
I just got a Ziss breeder box and a Ziss egg tumbler in the mail from Aquarium Co-op, and I needed them instantly. Somehow a clump of pleco eggs (~20) got pulled out of their cave. I didn't have the egg tumbler, yet so I used the Fluval breeder box and an air stone to keep the eggs from going bad. It worked nicely in a pinch. About 12 hatched and by then the Ziss breeder box arrived.
It worked really well, but not perfectly. I nearly lost a fish that got stuck between the outside of the box and the aquarium wall. I put a suction cup in that space to keep it pushed out from the side.
The quality of the Ziss product is sooooo much better than Fluval's, but also more expensive. It's probably less feasible for a big breeding situation.
I like that it keeps the water temp stable without a small heater, and the mesh sides are small enough for most teeny tiny fry. With Fluval's box I had to wedge a sponge piece in the overflow to block fry like corydoras from going through the slits. I also like the better water flow on the Ziss.
I can't wait to use the egg tumbler now. So far, I'm letting my pleco dads do their job and they do it quite well (most of the time!) My long finned chocolate dad just left his cave, and there are a TON of happy fry munching on green beans now in there now. He instantly tried to get his mate into another cave😳. He really needs a break now!
Thank you again! I look forward to another video from your fishroom!

@@kellycasperhanson4426 No stress at all. Always keen to interact with peoples knowledge and experience. I do agree with you that Ziss boxes do work better for raising fry as theres more flow :) as for the Tumblers i always find there a pain in the ass to put in and out of the tank to add or remove fry.
But aye everyone finds what works for you :0 glad your having good luck

Good to know about the egg tumbler. I'm going to be breeding my peacock gudgeons again, and hope the tumbler will help. The first time they bred I didn't take the eggs out quick enough. The male ate them all in one night😑.
      Thanks again!
