Honestly, there is some serious research work done by the game development team in understanding and gaining indepth knowledge of Indian yogic history and culture. This is mostly missing in foreign projects with respect to India or Indian characters.
Would you mind offering an example of what they understand in this game that is often missed by others?

They've definitely come a long way from the vaguely sinister gimmick character in Street Fighter II.

So, my observations:
1. Dhalsim is a combo of the words "Dhal" (Shield) and "Simha" (Lion). It thus means, "The Lion who Defends".
2. An elephant is not a dog or a chimp; stumbling over their trunks won't make them go crazy.
3. Dhalsim's elasticity is meant as a semi-humorous metaphor for how mastering yoga makes you flexible in both body and spirit.

actually according to the creators, there was an indian restaurant nearby capcom's office in osaka named dhal (lentils) and sim is beans in Japanese so his name is lentils beans. xD
In a yoga class, no way i could survive, but as a student for curry, THAT i jump on to in a heartbeat. I'd love to be his student in that area.

@@chillybradley3095 We learn he's married in 4, iirc. What I was expecting was epic revelations and dialogue like in the "Musings on a Still Night." Side reader that I highly recommend.

Also side note I always wander who was that lady that we often see in Dhalsim's stages before. Her first appearance was in SF2 Dhalsim's ending and from then on she appear in later SF game stages.
If she resembles the lady in this video, that has to be his wife, I reckon. Yeah, this story is a two-part shortish read filled with epic revelations and dialogue, as I mentioned, and you can find it by Googling the name. I don't want to say too much, as the mind is the best audience.

The word Yoga means union.
It means union with the universe. It involves cleaning of chitta from impressions of mind.
Yoga philosophy believes in Purush and Prakriti. Purush is pure consciousness and prikiriti is nature. Purush in ultimate form is all powerful, all knowing, but under influence of prakriti it forgets its true nature and falls into worldy desires.
The whole yoga is just aligning the geometry of body with universe so , that make oneself divine.

He’s all about peace, which is true I think but damn that one grab is crazy, like two punches to the head and a slap only a mom could bestow is actually way more brutal the most of the throws in the game
Sometimes his body gets a stretch, but he gets used to it and he stays calm for long time.

And he is forbidden to play again. The rules of baseball is rather simple, he just need to hit the ball, then run to 1st Base. It simply took him exactly 1 step for him, just one.
