The Inimitable Dame Maggie Smith was a True "Tour de Force* in the World of Acting, whether on Stage, Big or Small Screen. I cannot think of a single instance where she failed to deliver an absolutely stellar performance. She will be sorely missed and with Her passing, The World has suddenly become a little greyer, colder and more Mundane....
I was sad there was no mention of the two Marigold Hotel movies …. Super films both Maggie and Judi Dench were in together, alongside other great British actors and there was also “Tea with Mussolini “ , set in Italy during the War ……my goodness , these two women were and in Judi ARE a tour de force of the kind of talent we may never be blessed with again . RIP Dame Maggie , with your dear departed 2nd husband….we miss you but we’re blessed in that you are immortalized in film and the tv box sets of Downton Abbey 😘
Maggie Smith was a great actress. The least you could do is tell her story in a coherent manner and make the clips relate to the narration and vary the pace of the video to prevent it from being so mind-numbing.
@jeremyshelman. My criticism exactly. This utterly careless treatment - just a crammed succession of photographs - was a betrayal of a very great artist. What’s worse, the script was nothing more than a recitation of a list of credits almost totally unrelated to the pictures. It was scarcely a tribute. There are too many videos that follow this same disappointing pattern. There ought to be some sort of editor, acting on behalf of the viewer. As it is, we don’t know what we are getting, until it’s too late.
They where firm friends, and that is just English humour u don’t have to be all lovey dovey like the over the top Hollywood way they where true friends and sometimes you quarrel and make up 🤷♀️
While the content is fine to listen to, the chaotic assortment of film clips made me scroll down not to have to watch them. You have all the clips, it would have been nice to have the correct ones showing when you talk about her movies and plays. Instead they're almost always of something else. Really bad editing choice.
Correct! Margaret Rutherford was nominated for the VIPs and WON. Other nominees that year were Diane Cilento, Edith Evans, and Joyce Redmond in Tom Jones and Lilia Skala in LILIES OF THE FIELD. Also NOT nominated was Lotte Lenya in FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE.
I believe, in the past, Judi has planted a tree in memory of a good friends passing. I was wondering, if so, what tree she would select to represent Maggie.
I saw her in The Lady from Dubuque. The first act was SO boring and slow. Dame Maggie opened the second act and it was thrilling watching her. She did save the play.
I wish Americans wouldn’t narrate commentaries about Brits because the mispronunciations of names and places is cringe worthy. Alan Bennett whom you call Alan Benedict is a well known British playwright who has written numerous plays. Why do you totally ignore the fact that Maggie Smith started out on the stage and as an actor is more lauded for that than films. Keep to your own for heaven’s sake and leave the rest of us alone!
If you did her the service of using clips from the actual shows you're describing this would be watchable. As it is, you misinform people who don't know these shows or actors. You most likely haven't seen them yourself. This is as poorly done as possible, slapping a narration that may or may not be your writing, onto a jumbled reel of clips that at best can be called SHODDY. The narration is getting close to human but still mispronounces basic words.
You can skip this! It's terribly done. Don't say I didn't warn you. I am a fan of both Judi Dench and Maggie Smith, they deserve much better than this disgraceful presentation.
I could watch everything this woman ever portrayed. She was a wonderful person and one of the most versatile actors of three generations.

She was incredible!
These two dear ladies are sorely missed - I haven’t gone to the movies since they stopped. God Bless them both. ♥️😇🙏💐H
Dame Judi Dench is still alive and still acting!
Her kind will never be seen again ,,, what an actress..
These two Dames were both national treasures. RIP Dame Maggie Smith 😢 💔 😔
Whether on stage, in movies or on TV, Maggie Smith never turned in anything less than a first-class performance.

Love love love Maggie smith.
This starts with the mention of Dame Judi Dench’s emotion tribute to Dame Maggie then nothing but mismatched pictures and dialogue!
Often mispronounced too. Rubbish .
She might be gone now ,but we will remember her for many years
She was the dowager Empress of all Western Theatre with an unparalleled run.💙
In this year both Dame Maggie Smith left us and Marissa Parades Thank you for your wonderful acting. Love

❤❤❤. AWESOME. ACTRESS R I P . 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟💖💖💖
Good job!! Glad I found you!!
What a shame that the narrative and photos/film do not match up. When talking about a particular film why not show the appropriate images?
Such a sloppy hodgepodge: no relation between narration and visuals. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing it right.
Not what you said it was going be
I would have liked to hear at least some comments made from Judi Dench as advertised in your title.
This WOULD have been good if it hadn’t been for the narration. Much better to show the film clips and hear more of Maggie herself.
So what does Dame Judi Dench have to say?
Maggie,Smith,notre,mamy,

what about the prime of miss Jean Brodie her Iconic role

You forgot to add the movie The Secret Garden as Mrs Medlock

It is rather annoying that the narration here has little, if any, correlation with the pictures/video being shown.
Agree!
Lazy edting. No connection between visuals and narration
She never got nominated for The VIPS at the Oscars.

And…the shots of Zendaya were in there for…why??

Loads of errors. Quite ridiculous actually. Especially the one about Vivienne Leigh.
