Clearly an intelligent guy. He made very valuable contributions to society and it's a shame we don't have people like him still spearheading the field of computing. Also a shame that he doesn't get the recognition that he deserves like so many other pioneers and real leaders in the field of science. It's neat to hear his thoughts on where we're at and where we're going. A shame that he had to shorten his section about "logical AI" (ua-cam.com/video/K13_sWm_gZw/v-deo.html), that sounds very interesting to hear.
If you want to use Clojure in your Java job, just call it XML. (Also keep a transpiler XML/Java transpiler handy just in case anyone asks any questions).
Interesting that John hated XML (@t=49m) as much as modern programmers. Although I was somewhat disenchanted to hear him self-deprecate on his aptitude for downloading and such. Perhap a LISP wizard is humble above all else.
Can someone explain what he meant when he referred to Herbert Simmons ? 31:10 Is he implying that regardless of how much information flooding happens, people figure out what is relevant?
I think he’s implying that A) it’s not an actual problem (if there was a publication that would’ve greatly affected his work 10 years prior, then that would mean there’s a filtering problem) and B) the filtering systems available have been and likely will continue to be sufficient (your point)
RIP John. Thanks for all the parentheses.
all cons, no pros
Honored to hear this great Professor's lectures.
What a great man! A true thought leader and pioneer.

I... might actually try that.
Thank you for posting this

Have you heard Linus Torvald berate the Linux desktop distros?

i didn't like the way that he was talking here and i was expecting more important things than the crumplings he said
