Thank you! I did put a lot of effort into this restoration and I'm glad it turned out nice. I hope I can get better over time, when I start rebuilding bigger projects. Cheers
@@hunter7476 There are tractors aroung that are being used which would be nice to restore, but that may never happen. I have a couple projects that will come up in the near future. Some are tractors, and others are on & off-road vehicles.
Thank you, I tried my best to keep track of everything. I hope this will help someone down the line in case they rebuild their garden tractor. Best regards
Thank you for the videos! Can you do a video or just tell me how you restore the dash panel? I’m wondering how you paint all the little rabbits, turtles, and text without making a mess.
You're more than welcome. I've painted over the dash symbols with a paint marker and applied a matt-clear coat over top. It's also possible to to do this with a small paint brush and dab it on. You will need a steady hand, but just take your time.
I know it's been a while since you made this video, but I'm wondering if you could provide some more info. I have the possibility of buying a similar tractor with the snowblower and mower deck. I'm wondering what you paid for the machine, you already covered the restoration. I also wonder what you thing the value is after your restoration. I'm also wondering if you could share a link to the parts / part numbers / sources for the parts you used. Thanks for all the great videos - you do a great job.
Hello Andrew! Thank you for taking the time to watch my videos. As far as a parts list, I cannot provide you with much because there are so many small parts involved in this tractor. I found a great source of drawings on Weingartz, which I use up until this day for various other projects. This is the link for a JD 300 in your case: www.weingartz.com/illustrated-diagram/john-deere-parts-lookup/model-300-hydrostatic-tractor-16-hp-k341-aqs-kohler-engine-pc1474/4275-35358 You can navigate through subassemblies and even find parts numbers if you need to. Very helpful in my opinion! These tractors are very good units and a setup like the one you‘re willing to purchase would be well worth it. I paid for the JD300, a 46“ mower deck and 32“ rototiller $500 CAD. After all the work I‘ve done, I would probably take a loss if I were to sell the tractor. There are just countless hours of parts searching, sanding, and what not that goes into a rebuild/restoration. If ai were to just count the cost of parts, I might just break even. Around here in Alberta a tractor like this (after restoration) will cost anywhere from $2500 to $3500 CAD depending on the attachments. It‘s really up to you what you want to do with your tractor and it‘s always nice to keep a good looking original John Deere. I hope you find this info helpful. Regards Andreas
The paint I use is all industrial-based paint. I buy this locally from a company called Cloverdale. Their ready mix colors are branded Spectra, but they also mix colors if I would ever need an off color. There are many brands which provide the "John Deere Green and Yellow", so it's really user preference. The black however is a semi-gloss black and can possibly be found at any local paint supplier. Cheers
Hi do You have any idea how to attach a snow thrower attachment to the John Deere 300 I have the tractor I would like to buy the snow thrower for the winter but I have no idea how to connect it
The snowblower is connected with quick attach pins and a belt. There are many pictures of them online...Just make sure you get the right snowblower for the JD300 series garden tractors.
Wow very nice I still can’t get over how well the tractors look after you are done restoring them

@@WorkshopRebuild do you have any plans to work on bigger tractors?

What type of green paint? And what type of black paint for the frame?
