Very good point Astro. The Bloggers do not hold back in the criticism of the Russian Generals on their Blogs, which information gets back to the top commanders. Also the regular troops in the field are openly telling the world through the Internet that their lives mean nothing. Do not know what the surrender and desertion rate in the Russian Military is but it must be high.
The commanders are tasked with a hopeless goal given their equipment and training level of russian troops. Lying to Putin worked previously. It's a rude awakening from Fantasyland.
A senior officer or official wanted a scapegoat. So someone wrote a report to give him one. The veracity of this report is irrelevant to the situation as it contained what the superior wanted to hear. The system is working as intended.
Falsifying productivity reports was what led to the fall of the USSR. Everyone was making their quotas but no one was. Looks like the tradition is still going strong.
Classic corruption and paranoia politics result... imo this is common for a lot of "regimes" with highly centralized and corrupt officials. It was the same in Yugoslavia ages ago...

People get punished and singled out for pointing out problems, placing obvious blame anyone or otherwise "being too negative". Which ultimately results in the same kind of "no bad news allowed" culture and similar problems with systematic exaggeration of good results and downplaying of problems, as well as systematically promoting people who are willing to lie to their bosses in order to consistently give them good news instead of reality.
That was a basic flaw in all communist regimes. You can't legislate productivity! (We had a Bulgarian professor who absolutely hated communism because he had actually worked in communist factories.)

I saw a video on the Somme offensive the other day, and how the slow communications made it impossible to change the plans. It was a "clockwork war", because you had to send orders to artillery to start bombard the enemy at 05:00, at 06:00 the infantry rushed from their trenches, so artillery had to move their barrage forwards at the same pace the infantry was supposed to move towards the enemy tranches. At best there was a telephone line, but more often than not dogs, runners (on foot, on horse or pedal bike) had to be used for communicatin as radio was not yet at a stage where you could have it on the level needed to coordinate the attacks. Russia is still fighting WWI but with WWII tactics in a y2k battle field.

He described the importance of giving good reports to superiors (or you’re done for), so that they could give good reports to their superiors. Everyone seems to be in on it. Their window of opportunity to change their armed forces to best assuredly realize battlefield success in Ukraine slammed shut when the 40-Mile Convoy turned around & retreated. That armored fist was the means & method through which Russia could best capitalize on Ukraine's military shortfalls to achieve a solid political victory. They got SO close. Only a few handfuls of kilometers more would have seen them inside Kyiv City proper. Maybe they wouldn't have taken Ukraine's President & Vice President but Kyiv's successful occupation would have greatly weakened Ukrainian resistance to occupation. We must also give credit to where credit is due. The Russian retreat from Kyiv happened under Ukrainian harassing fire yet they still managed a pretty orderly retreat. Orderly retreat under fire at the company level is one of the hardest troop movements you can manage. It could so easily turn into a rout.

The losses of the tanks and armored personnel carriers is staggering. Most of the storage depots are getting very empty. Add to the mix, Russia can not manufacturer equipment fast enough to replace equipment lost in the fighting.
Russia is trying to gain some momentum before Trump gets into office. Putin correctly bets on Trump supporting whichever party seems to be winning. If, by the time Trump gets to call the shots, Russia's advancement will have picked up pace, Trump will pressure Ukraine into giving up territory for peace - which is a terrible bargain, favouring Russia and putting all Eastern European and Central Asian countries at risk, but it's something one can expect from someone thinking short term, like Trump. If by that time Ukraine will have managed to halt all Russian offensives, keep a foothold in Kursk and maybe enev show some gains in a few places, Putin will be the one pressured to go home.

It keeps sending older and older machines to the battlefield, and satellite photos show that most of its long term storage facilities are already depleted. There's just one such facility still relatively full, out of dozens at the beginning of the war.
FSB purge of the military? It‘s not like the military is using a “tactic“ that they haven‘t been using since the start of the war - lying about successes, and inability to attack outside of a line of tanks during daylight. We‘ve seen signs, over several months, of the military losing power, such as Wagner‘s march, Shoigu‘s loss of his position, and the FSB in charge of Kursk. Russia lost the war a long time ago. If they ever could have taken Ukraine at all they would have done so in the beginning when they were much stronger than now. The proof is obvious by just looking at the calendar and count nearly 3 years of nothing but downhill for Russia for what was supposed be a few days. The only reason Russia keeps fighting is to avoid the (inevitable) humiliation of withdrawal.

It seems like Russians are really going through a lot of tanks. This and other channels mention these losses every day.
The losses of the tanks and armored personnel carriers is staggering. Most of the storage depots are getting very empty. Add to the mix, Russia can not manufacturer equipment fast enough to replace equipment lost in the fighting.
Russia is trying to gain some momentum before Trump gets into office. Putin correctly bets on Trump supporting whichever party seems to be winning. If, by the time Trump gets to call the shots, Russia's advancement will have picked up pace, Trump will pressure Ukraine into giving up territory for peace - which is a terrible bargain, favouring Russia and putting all Eastern European and Central Asian countries at risk, but it's something one can expect from someone thinking short term, like Trump. If by that time Ukraine will have managed to halt all Russian offensives, keep a foothold in Kursk and maybe enev show some gains in a few places, Putin will be the one pressured to go home.
Russia has enough to keep this going in for many more years.
@@fatefinger If Russia has enough, it hides it pretty well. It keeps sending older and older machines to the battlefield, and satellite photos show that most of its long term storage facilities are already depleted. There's just one such facility still relatively full, out of dozens at the beginning of the war.

FSB purge of the military? It‘s not like the military is using a “tactic“ that they haven‘t been using since the start of the war - lying about successes, and inability to attack outside of a line of tanks during daylight. We‘ve seen signs, over several months, of the military losing power, such as Wagner‘s march, Shoigu‘s loss of his position, and the FSB in charge of Kursk. Would be helpful for a video on the various factions in Russia, but nobody‘s done it yet. :/

Russia lost the war a long time ago. If they ever could have taken Ukraine at all they would have done so in the beginning when they were much stronger than now. The proof is obvious by just looking at the calendar and count nearly 3 years of nothing but downhill for Russia for what was supposed be a few days.
The only reason Russia keeps fighting is to avoid the (inevitable) humiliation of withdrawal.
