Every mother has her ways of taking care of her child you have no idea what situation she might be in where she thinks her child is safest with her. If you think that clinging to a child doesn't make you a good mother then there are those who believe that not clinging is something not good for your child so why not learn to accept and respect different approaches of different styles parenting instead of taking it personally and feeling insecure as every opts the best method of parenting for her child according to her circumstances which should not be criticized by someone who knows nothing about their challenges and options.
We have had kids too and raised them to be good sound persons capable of surviving thank God. We did not need to cling to our children publicly to show our love. As they grew up they wanted some separation too to establish their own identity. It was hard to let go but we did for their own good.
