I do the same with the empty glass. Leave it out over night just to smell it the next morning before washing it. Re-live the moment just for a few seconds more.

Finally drinking this myself for the first time. Funny you mentioned the change, Scott... first pour was immediately peat smoke, but it dies down to reveal the rum and finally a lightly smoked caramel. Presents on the palate as bitter charcoal in the finish. Second dram, I added a drop of water, and do find it hard to peat smoke, it really just added an interesting complexity. Either way, I would never peg this as Glenfiddich blind, but I did find the classic green apple citrus note buried in there after it sat in the glass for a while.

Great episode Gents! I bought this bottle for about $40 last week which I thought was a great deal so I snapped it up immediately and was not disappointed. It's very different for Glenfiddich and perfectly applies to their Experimental vibe as it's got some peat in it! It enchanted and never overpowers. Peat and Pear, who would've thought? Soft soft peat, am surprised Bart didn't get it (it hits on opening the bottle) but it may have softened some since it's been opened a while. A delicious single malt, I'll probably bunker another. Hope Glenfiddich keeps trying new things. Cheers Scott and Bart!

It’s good, the smoke note makes it interesting. I added a drop of Glenfiddich 12, and it improved the finish providing oaky notes.

    Hey Guys:
Enjoying a Second Sitting with this Whiskey and as with Scott my coin concentrates a sugar syrup note on the Nose and on the arrival in the Palate. The sweet syrup note remains and a light ashy, morning after, campfire smoke note mixes in. The Finish is now peppery but as that fades a dryness with a hint of smoke mixed with a light sugary sweetness as well.

Interesting Whiskey put it on the list, think my taste is closer to Scott as have barley gotten into the Peat. So far HP 12 Oban 14 and Kilkerran 12 are the peatyist ones I have tried. Exelennt segment on the breathalyzer for $17 on Amazon I'm ordering one now. Also thanks for the information about waiting I had read that many years ago and your demonstration proved that small amount you guys had put you both over the top as it is measuring evaporating alcohol fumes. When I get mine going to experiment with swishing and spitting out something cask strength and measuring a few minutes after, also the difference between distilled spirit and beer when waiting the proper time and comparing the results with the charts the DMV gives out with portions, body weight gender and time accounted for. Cheers Guys

Damn strong vocals there dude..... Just found this one and indeed I found the peat smoke straight away------not overpowering but UNMISTAKABLE peat smoke there.... The rest of the flavor profile is absolute fruity sweet malty on the palate.... I too added just a few drops of water to a healthy dram and it opened the flavor notes up a bit.....At 43% the fruity sugar sweet smoky flavor profile is prominent and this "experimental" malt does not disappoint......

I thought for sure Scott would have chipmunked that TESTIT! In post editing, 😂. That was long but amazingly Bart still had enough air to talk at the end. I got this bottle last week and now I’m glad I did. For the price it seemed like a no brainer. Haven’t opened it yet but I’m sure it won’t be too long before that’s remedied. I'm not usually a GlenFiddich fan. I've been intrigued by the thought of this bottle and have kept my eye out for it. Was really interested in this review since I think Bart and I have similar palates. I sort of got the impression during this that Bart was reaching for good things to say about this bottle. Seemed decent but nothing that really special about it. Hence it has tempered my enthusiasm for finding this bottle a good bit. If I'm wrong about that Bart, please let me know.

    Hey Guys:
Just picked this up today and like Bart, a Malt note was the first thing I noticed. I also feel that this may be one of a few Peated whiskies that would stand up to warm weather. Here are my impressions.
    SLÁINTE
    Mike
    GLENFIDDICH Experimental Series
    Fire and Cane
    11/10/20
    43% ABV NAS
First Pour from the bottle. I let the spirit sit in the glass for 1 hour to open.
COLOR: Light Amber; nice ring with legs running swiftly.
NOSE: Malty sweetness and floral notes as I continue to nose, a light candy sweetness is also there along with the lightest of peat notes
PALATE: Sweet candy-like arrival followed by light pepper and hint of floral and peat smoke, Very light mouthfeel which improves as I swirl it around.
FINISH: Sugary going down with a light pepper spice with a hint of sugar sweetness; resolving to a light Peat Smoke filling my mouth; as a light pepper remains with hints of sugar as well.
With 1 drop of Spring water
    NOSE: Light sweet candy note
PALATE: Light sweet candy note. The mouth feel is a bit watery. Pepper and a “dirty” smoke underpinning. The light candy note stays in there as well.
FINISH: Light sugary note going down; resolving to a light pepper with a hint of sugar sweetness
With 2 drops of Spring water
NOSE: Light Sugary Sweetness a bit of a mint freshness as well.
PALATE: A light sweet arrival, but with a light smokiness The mouth feel is medium. As I swirl it around there is an even mix of smokiness and light sugary sweetness, with a bit of pepper thrown in for good measure.
FINISH: Drying with a sugary sense and a tingle in my throat and on my tongue.
This was fun to taste! There was a very nice complexity and I enjoyed how the pepper spice and light sugar sweet note mingled with the smoky peat notes. Having said that, I would have enjoyed a slightly stronger peat presence and a richer mouthfeel. I am looking forward to future glasses to see how the Peat notes change.
This whisky is not for someone who swears by heavily peated malts, but if you are looking for a dram that has Peat smoke mingled in with other notes give this a try. IMO, this is one Peated whisky that could be enjoyed at a summer barbecue.

Scotch Test Dummies it happens when you have peated whisky on the daily... that’s why I try to give myself breaks so the peat comes back to the palate and surprises ya! I have noticed that in the past with Bart... I know I’m a culprit too, especially with lightly Peated whisky. It took me two bottles of Johnnie Walker Black before I noticed the peat in that, lol...
