Glow plugs are used to help start but very often still used during initial warm up. If one has failed it leads to irregular running as that cylinder has lower performance compared to the rest. That can damage a dual mass flywheel a lot costlier repair, damage is caused due that cylinder not performing and causing a kick or torsional vibration in the engine running. This overloads the Ark springs in the dual mass flywheel.
Great videos, always amazes me how so many owners fail to appreciate how important basic servicing is. Sadly there are many who pay for servicing in good faith and don't get it.
I wonder what the inside of the cam cover looks like if it possibly hasn't had oil serviced.
Nice watch Jimmy!
Both the video and the one on your wrist. 🙂
Another good one simple filters if you know what’s what. Thanks for sharing
That motor will be needing a set of injectors soon. There’s a specific drive cycle that can be done to improve rough running when cold but their time is nearly up. Filters won’t do much to help.
It doesn’t pay to cut corners on not having your car Serviced regularly. My wifes Ford focus mark 1 is now 20y old but only covered 65.000 miles but she has it serviced every 12 months and it runs like the day she picked it up new from the dealer on the first day of the 03 reg
Same here with my 21 year old Mercedes 2.7 CDI emissions are the same every time it goes for a MOT. Plus the cost of these filters why not change them more often.
Ohhh thats the cause of a twisted air filter! (November '22: "Yep, we put a fresh filter on too...") I checked it in June and I thought someone with dirty hands tried to screw it on. It was way worse than the one in your video.
Sad that basic service items caused problems that were completely preventable 😢
Proper job 👍
Correction reset and Drive cycle so the ecu learns the pilot correction values on these after 100k imo is a must !
Have changed injectors on these before and the sound harsh until correction cycle is learned , nice long hill and 3/4 gear 1500 to 2500rpm acceleration and then let the engine ‘ brake ‘ back down to 1500 and repeat. Usually see a counter in live data that counts up to 7
After I learned injector values, engine start to misfiring, smoke with diesel smell. Should I replace injectors ? Thankyou
Thanks Jimmy you are Da Guvnor.Just wish you would answer the Phone LOL
Report the owner to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to cars lol
The offset fault code is indicating the injectors are at their maximum learned limit.
Relearning is a possibility which may improve running and drivability but they’ll almost certainly require replacement.
Poor quality fuel and or lack of maintenance doesn’t help.
I’ve recently relearned these on my partner’s 2012 focus and I don’t recommend anyone does this as it’s made the problem worse. Had to at least try before I replace the injectors.
That’s my beef with scann tools they give you the reading but if ur not familiar with a particular thing how would you know . Maybe go help on the code it may give you the reading high or low there . I’ll try that thing out loud here .
Shouldn’t you have replaced the oil and oil filter as well as the air and fuel cause guaranteed if the air filters that bad I can only imagine the state of the oil filter 🤦🏻♂️
Basic maintenance. Do these people thing a team of fairies do work on their cars while its parked on the drive?
What diagnostic is on video?
legend 🔥🔥🔥
Can you put up part numbers please test kit .
👍
What glue was it 😜
Just looked my last question up and on the scann tool , look under PID . If anyone can put me right please let me know .
Do you have the link for that turbo hose glue pls?
It's looks like it's a super glue, medium to high viscosity. I've successfully used it before on split boost hoses and it held well, perhaps get an activator to prime the surfaces like in a mitre glue kit and it'll bond instantly.

Them air and fuel filters were shocking. He said it has been with his family who is a mechanic😢😢😢My word, did that mechanic also do the annual service… i hope he did not pay him. Not giving a car continuous care/maintenance will cost more in the long term.. Doesnt makes sense at all!!!! Maybe some damage has been done which will cost a lot more thsn an oil & Fuel filter
Does make you wonder why people don't change filters
Ecus on these go wonky on the injection driver front. All sorts of rough running kick off with no codes set....
Any tool, hammer screwdriver plane it’s having the knowledge to use the tools. Owning a plane does not make a carpenter. Same with a scan tool, owning one does not make you a specialist. Without one your screwed even if you know what your doing.
Those T15,s can be a bitch to open great job
Is,,,LAUNCH UK paying you to sponsor their products ..cuz you really push their products,,,I hope yor getting paid mate😊 and from yor parts store???
Nobody pays me. I just like the Launch company. I do get offered free products if I include them in a video bit will only show them if I actually like them.
Topdon, Kingbolen, Autel, OTOFIX, Launch. all offer me products to show.
I don't receive any payment at all. Infact I paid for the Launch gun and fluids myself.
It would be nice of course one day if I could get paid for it but even then I'm not going to show a product I don't think works
why don't people service their cars FFS
@@twiz1084because they like to pay more maintenance bills in the long term??? Terrible
Amazing not serving it .. charge him extra
I can never understand why people don't service their cars. It seems diesel vehicles need proper regular maintenance. It's a false economy, in my opinion.
this makes me so mad that people dnt service there cars properly it was probably cheaper to service the car then pay you!
With that service history, no surprise the customer declined new glow plugs. Only have themselves to blame when car fails.
