Here he shows how he took the criminal to the ground and locked a triangle choke on him, before waiting for the police to arrive. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and all Martial Arts not only teach you how to fight, but also teach you to remain calm in stressful and dangerous situations.

I just watched that same video of the guy getting slammed for attempting a triangle from the bottom. Good awareness from this guy, certain things that work on the mat don't work on the street.
Although the skill is impressive... to me the most impressive thing about this is the man's humility of the entire situation. He never brags or boasts, just explains and demonstrates how he took care of business. That is the type of person kids should see as a role model.
It's the amount of losses it takes to get to where he is that makes most bjj students become humble... like within the first few years you'll be losing a majority of fights... takes a lot of trial and error to get to that level of skill
Nah, kids should look up to people like logan paul as role models.

Props to Sergio Hernandez - a decent dude, even has compassion for the burglar while holding him accountable to his actions.

I respect people that overpower someone but still have the brain not to kill someone. This guy was calm even if this guy was a fucking BURGLAR. EXTREMLY calm guy. EXTREMLY calm and calculated. @@dazza761 muay thai even better, but just remember to never kick on slippery grounds and above the waist, a combo of boxing background + muay thai + bjj + wrestling is probably the best fighter
@Rover Dangerfield nope actually, punching is risky, best way is to push kick/side kick a charging opponent, and then charge them back with a low kick, then jab and right hand, that is sure to drop a average person, and its not risking falling
He has a terrific memory. With all that adrenaline pumping there’s no way I would’ve remembered every position we were both in.

@@davidhumphries3413 Black belts aren't hard to get, they're time consuming to get. Training 3+ times a week for a decade* or more. Takes dedication.

So for instance, I drive for a living. I've been in several wrecks and none of them have been my fault. I had one that knocked me out for several hours, when I came to and got my bearings straight, I have my statement of what happened as I remember it. Good job! You handled that perfect without harming the guy, which he deserved but you avoided the legal repercussions by staying calm.
Such a fantastic example of someone who really understands Jiu Jitsu. He not only explains what he did but also minimized damage to both himself and his attacker. This is truly the essence of BJJ. He is so humble as well. We could all learn a lot from watching how this man behaved. Ossss.
@Darren Harper He specifically said BJJ, and claiming that bjj is a vanilla version that gets people beat every time is just about as moronic as it gets.
@Darren Harper how many people have you killed with your martial arts?
It says a lot when someone has their opponent dominated but has the humanity to not inflict unnecessary damage/pain. I imagine that martial arts generally promotes this kind of mature mindset, but you still see plenty of cowboys who take an inch of power and will try to leverage it as far as they can go (see also : idiots who don't stop when their partner taps out, LEOs escalating things due to legal immunity, backup and a gun, or people taking swings after the bell and pretending they didn't hear it, etc).
