Pretty cool and interesting. I grew up mostly with the computer until, my 9th birthday, I think, when my best friend gifted me a Gameboy Color with Pokémon Red. After that, I still played computer games, but I also played Nintendo games. I hope that you'll do the Gameboy and Nintendo 64 boxes. Really loved the Gameboy Color ones. Quite nostalgic for me. Thanks for the video, Metatron. Have a good day, and the same to everybody.
I think it was roughly around the Megadrive era that I really started to take notice of the box art. The black PAL packaging was awesome and, dare I say it, badass. I still remember how mesmerized I was with the mature presentation of Altered Beast's box art, while also being drawn to the cartoony Sonic the Hedgehog. Got them both with the console.
Yeah 2 games I recall distictly buying for their looks was Ranger - X and Elemental Master for the Sega Genesis. I got lucky, as both of them are spectacualr titles.
Children are not the only ones that like colors. I like colors as well, it's not because I'm an adult now that I magically started to like the darker tones.
Megadrive had the best boxes, clamshell and colorufll, big art plus it dodged that big border down the side that Genesis boxes had 😁 The cardboard boxes of NES, SNES and N64 look nice, but they are so prone to wear and tear.
Sega had better boxes since they can store the game unlike the snes which didnt learn from Sega which so many threw them out. But then later sega used paper and thats when the quality went bad. Japan had better manuals to be color unlike the US.
For the record, Canada was an NTSC territory and I can't think of a time our console hardware or game packaging was much different from what the US got. I tend to prefer the PAL boxes, not just for the border colour but also for keeping the Super Famicom button logo instead of the weird monochrome interpretation we got.
Being Spanish I grew up with PAL consoles and boxes so my nostalgia is triggered by our fantastic PAL cartridges and boxes. I understand US people like their versions but to me American SNES and American carts are ugly compared to Japanese and European ones.
Amazing video 😊😊
I had no idea you also had a retro gaming channel. Just learned today when watching your other channel. You have a new subscriber.
That little rattling sound of the cartridges is like my ratatouille trigger. Thank you so much for the nostalgia trip, R.
Nice video. Hell of a collection there!
I never had a console myself - only computers. But I still enjoyed video. So many great games on SNES! Thanks goodness for emulators!

Nice intresting video would love to see a similar thing for the Mega Drive/Genesis

I love this game. 2-3 years ago my cousin and me sat down to play 1 game. We ended up playing all the levels in one sitting.
We could say in provocative poetry that this box design marketing choice reflects how kids in the leading nation of war are more black-hearted.

Why was Mattel on SMW ? Related to Italy?
do a breakdown on dark souls armor sets!
Does anyone know if PAL boxed games would ever come with an NTSC manual? Instead of a PAL manual
JP cartridges looked like Pal one.
Interestig.
You may also look into Japanese box art, which often had a completely different artwork to appeal to children.
Canada doesn’t use PAL?
