I worked for Campendium (all those dispersed sites are mostly me) and was sad when they let our team go. I loved that job
Well done. Do you have another site that you recommend?
I paid for Roadtrippers to get Campendium features, and it's really not very useful. Sad (and angry) to see that Campendium is gone.
Ugh I used that a lot last summer
Completely agree! Roadtrippers is a huge downgrade. It tries to do it all, and doesn’t do anything well.
Campendium was great, it did one thing exceedingly well. Roadtrippers is great at routing but terrible at the thing I used Campendium for which was "where are we staying next?" Very disappointed that they kneecapped Campendium and removed the maps.
Me as well, emailed support last week and I am probably going to cancel tomorrow.
@@doggonenomads I emailed support as well with my complaints. 👍 Hope they listen!
Just heard back from Campendium support--they're adding the map view back to Campendium! I am so happy to be able to continue to use it--it serves such a different purpose from Roadtrippers for me.
❤💙 As someone who loves boon docking anyplace away from people and free, if you should do a “refreshed” where to find camping spots, free or paid, I would certainly welcome that!
👋 howdy! I too love boondocking, can't wait to get out west of the Missouri River over the 4th.
That campendium thing sucks!! That was my go to place and I'm not going to pay for access to an app.
Agree! I just posted about this on the Escapees FB group. I am probably going to cancel tomorrow.
Try RV Parky for campground reviews and so on. Had to leave Campendium.
I use RV Parky and find it to be very good. Hope more join to help increase the amount of reviews.
The border issue really bites us because we live in the Seattle area and often will decide last minute to cross the border for a day trip. Also sometimes you just can’t know where you’re going to cross always. Especially like the Bellingham/ Lynden area. You tend to switch it up depending on the traffic. This does not improve crossings on so many fronts.
There was a Frasier episode about this very thing
There was a Frasier episode about this very thing
For all those who contributed info to Campendium and never consented to that info being sold, I believe a class action lawsuit may be in order.
I remember when I was in my 20’s in the 1980’s I was making a little over minimum wage and we could go camping in our used conversion van at any State Park for $8 per night. Is it my imagination or is camping now geared for the affluent? I retired August of 2023 and took an 80 day trip and stayed in 10 national parks. We saw many glamping campgrounds in every state. Most were $200+$400 a night OUCH! The thing that stood out to me was many were pretty full.
It has gotten expensive - that said, I've never seen anything THAT expensive. The fancy high end RV resorts I've been to are in the $100 a night range.
Yes, that's how I feel, camping is for the wealthy. If you are solo, you are forgotten and screwed!😢
In Texas, state parks are $20-$25 a night- still super cheap in my 2 cents
Liquified is great stuff!!
You might want to mention that the Ray Roberts Lake State Park - both Johnson Branch and Isle du Bois Branch - are closed until they can get everything cleaned up. Fallen trees and several flipped and destroyed trailers at both locations. Thankfully in those areas there were no fatalities but the RR marina area tornado had 7 deaths including children. So devastating.
I relied on Campendium to find campsites in the areas I was traveling to. With the removal of the map feature, it’s pretty useless. Even the list of campsites in the area is wrong. The last couple searches I attempted listed campgrounds over a hundred miles away and none in the area I was searching. I cancelled Roadtrippers.
Another great one Jason. Praying for those caught in those bad storms.
The slashing of Campendium opens up an opportunity for someone who wants to put a “user review” website out there for RVers - and perhaps rake in a bit of cash in advertising sold on the site. Good luck!
You’ve really hit your stride on the news updates Jason. well done
Thanks!
Man .. Lake Ray Roberts used to be a favorite place to camp. So sad 😢❤
Tried Matt’s Liquify treatment. It came via Amazon. We are on our third dose. It’s very good. We’re sold. Thanks Matt.
Thank you so much Mary
If I could get a Wingamm in 4wd 😊 I’d be sold.
Just ordered my free bottle! Yes, you pay for shipping, but it's still a great deal at $6. We started using the product this year and have so far been pleased with it. And yes, you have to answer some marketing questions. (I faked the birthdate.)
I add cascade to both black and grey tanks. Grey tank is done twice a summer. Black tank gets about 1/3 to 1/2 a cup. Septic safe. Cleans so my gages work!
I just used Campendium for the first time on my last road trip through DV and Nevada. It was very cool and useful for someone vanlifing rather than RVing. Was really looking forward to using it on my cross-country trip in the fall. I really didn't like roadtrippers from what I saw. Oh well....
Great job, Jason (as always)
We adopted our little dog in Texas in 2014 & regularly cross the boarder from Canada into the US & back. Cannot remember when we were asked for her rabies certificate. I find US boarder agents have completely ignored our dogs over the decades except during mad-cow year when they confiscated our made-in-the-USA dog food.
I recently spent a month in Baja with my dog, and the officials pretty much ignored him going both ways. I had to take him out of the vehicle going into Mexico so they could look in the back seat, but that was it. They didn't even bother on the way back, and nobody ever asked for any paperwork.
Thanks , lots of good info as always!
You bet!
Thank you Jason for another great video that is informational. Hopefully everyone will be safe from the storms coming and I have seen someone in Vegas with one of those cyber trucks but I didn’t know what it was until I just saw it here. It didn’t have the trailer with it just the trick. Thank you again Jason for this video. Hope you had a great Memorial Day!
As usual Great.
Campendium auto renewed my membership under the Roadtrippers name. I wasn't happy about this. When I contacted them they first told me that there was no refund but after a few calls they agreed to cancel my membership and refund my money. Word of caution. If you don't want your membership renewed in this way cancel your membership before the due date. Otherwise you may not get your money back.
I am going to try and cancel tomorrow. I paid for Campendium not roadtrippers.
No matter how many times I contacted them, they said I agreed to pay in the fine print of the agreement and woud not refund....no matter what. What a scam!
I contacted them right after I was sent a text alert that the charge was made and I still had to call a couple of times. Any company company that has to rely on the fine print to stay in business is not a company that I would trust to use. If they don't give you a choice to opt out of auto renew then they do not believe in their product. They changed the product therefore they should offer a refund if you no longer want it because of the change. I wonder how many people were renewed and now have a product they paid for and can not use because it sucks.
@@timpatton3948 I think they are realizing that there are a LOT of people bailing, thus.....no refunds no matter what. Then ride it all the way to the crash site.
Good job, nice information
Thanks
Nice update.
Thanks!
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Thanks all the good news. The liquify stuff ya have to pay for shipping
Make your own tank cleaner. 8 oz. calgon bath beads and 40 oz. PineSol it will foam when mixed together let it settle and add water to mix a gallon. This is the mixture that Tank Tech. uses. They say all of the other stuff like Liquified makes the waste a slush and harder to clean.
@@TonyBenton0728 I will do that. I just happen to have all those ingredients.
I am happy staying in the US and mostly the south west for me.
6,000 ah of batteries? Holy crap! That's like $50k right there
I heard this was going to happen and started putting all of my Campendium saves in Google Maps. It took forever but the Campendium app was/is glitching and randomly unfavoriting. They acknowledged the problem but I figured they weren’t going to fix it. Such a shame. I’m basically creating my own Campendium on Google Maps as long I the IOS app still works.
NOAA back to predicting hurricanes. 😂😂
I tried Liquified and it was awful! It broke down solids but my god the smell was awful. It did nothing to control odors. I went back to happy camper
Campendium was the only site/app that let you search by elevation, critical info when camping in the summer without AC. Roadtrippers allows elevation searches within ranges, the last of which is 6,000 to 16,000 feet. So useless.
Roadtrippers is owned by Thor Industries. Shady business practices don't generally stop with one brand name under the umbrella.
Thor sold the roadpass brands a while back. I think they have a small stake in it still, but they don’t control it.
@@RVMiles What about Roadtrippers? That's where they're currently forcing Campendium users to go.
Roadpass is the company that owns Campendium, Roadtrippers, Togo, OvernightRVParking, and the now defunct RVillage.
Roadtrippers and all of the others were sold by Thor Industries to a Private Equity Company. Thor may have some interest in it, but the PEC has controlling interest. They are who ultimately cut all the staff that were maintaining the databases at Campendium.
@@RVMiles Sadly they also shuttered OvernightRVParking. They claimed to move the features to roadtrippers but missed a lot of locations in transferring the data. They also removed any "not allowed" locations which was very useful because then you could, for example, see that the local Walmart explicitly doesn't allow overnight RV parking, rather than just not being in the app.
Typical, you need to fill out a form, but it isn't available yet. 🤣 Thanks for the info! - Michelle
New RV'er here. I am planning a solo road trip across the US and was wondering what to do in these weather events. Obviously if its a tornado that touches down near me I'm screwed, but if its a storm do you all leave camp and drive away as soon as its reported?
just realized your topping 100k subs... Congrats!!
Thanks! 😃
Will you be posting the link for the form for the USDA dog form when its available?
Amazing the regs on dogs but anyone can walk into the country and come back years later to be checked. Which is really more dangerous!?
So now its harder to get your pet back into our country that sneaking across the southern? border
Teach your dog to say "Asylum!"
Ok the toilet treatment is not really free. You still have to pay nearly $6 for shipping for a $17 bottle of treatment. Please ensure you cover the details in the future
The LiquifiedRV "free" bottle still requires you to pay shipping.
The CDC must have be concerned about a transmitting dog virus to make this rule about dogs entry/exit for USA and Canada.
What about cats?
I suggest that you learn about Lightship RV. I think it is a better EV tow.
Thanks for the regular updates about the RV industry and traveling advisories.
If you don't allow wide-open access to your browser you won't be able to get the free bottle.
I wish they wouldn’t build on a ram pro master chassis. It’s literally one of the most unreliable vans you can find. I don’t think it’s too much to ask for.

Not a fan of the liquified marketing scheme. Yea, The bottle of liquified is feee but they charge you for shipping. Sure you can change your mind at check out but by this point they’ve already captured all of your contact info, birthday, RV info.
Sorry about that! It wasnt intented to be messaged that way! On all other promotional advertisements we mention all you have to do is pay for shipping.
What I can do is if you email me I can delete your information if your not comfortable with sharing it.
Sorry about the confusion and happy camping
I mean, it’s not a big deal if you know about it up front. Then you can make an informed decision. Thank you for responding to this. I’d still like to try the product.
I want to sell my home, buy a class B and travel extensively throughout the U.S.the issue is maintaining a home address without having one.At this point it is the one roadblock.
Any suggestions?
Escapees mailbox!
I use Checks in the Mail, Nevada . But businesses like the DMV require a physical home so I use a friends home. Most of the private postal services will forward your mail for a small fee. Watch Creativity RV, Carolyn’s RV, or Cheap RV living . They cover this in detail.
Does this include Canadians come to US?
It does, and the rabies vaccination I think needs to be done a certain number of months in advance for canadians
Campendium stinks now. Many parks I've pinned from them onto my camping map aren't even on Campendium now. It's useless.
Can you please investigate the campgrounds run by concessions have no water in virtually all of sites and jacked the prices again! Same campgrounds since forever.
Don’t take Campendium from us!!!! It’s the best!
Dogs don't vote
My dog just voted No to going to Alaska. I agree. No chips in my best buddy.
Have to admit the rules are draconian. WTF it’s just a dog? I can see having proof of rabies and other vaccinations but why the microchips??? If my dog is stolen or lost it’s my business not theirs.
It looks to me like Roadtrippers is buying up all the competition that provided services relatively cheaply to increase their subscription income. 😠
🤷♀️all dogs should be microchipped anyway. It’s the smart thing to do for the pup.
Free Liquified Toilet treatment doesn't work in Canada but hey get your info first, so Canadians don't fill in the forms
My dog is going to come back across the southern border. That way he can just walk across, will get a free phone, spare cash and can probably vote in Nov...
No doubt - RoadTrippers is not near as enjoyable to use as Campendium. Campendium was a great brand, it was a dumb move to jettison it. I'm canceling my subscription and switching to The Dyrt.
I am disappointed that you would recommend a "free" product that requires $5.99 shipping. That makes this tank sanitizer not really a great deal compared to the most commonly used product available from a retail store that traveling campers often use. Too late for me, because I gave them a lot of my personal information before I found it was not really free. I did not complete my order because it gave me a bad taste about the company.
It’s a paid ad, not a recommendation. We weren’t aware of the shipping fee, now we are. That said, it’s a really good product t that we do like.
Free bottle wants too much personal information! Not at all comfortable with giving this much info with the level of internet scamming now going on. No thank you.
They need to be able to contact you, and I assume charge you shipping. You can get a “pseudo one time use credit card number” on most CC sites, as well as an email that you can use that will only work for a given time.
Just a heads up before you pay, roadtrippers is complete useless trash.
CDC = FJB
