      I have a 1987 as well and I love it!! Im 5'8 135 pounds and I feel so good on the bike, I had a 1994 fzr600r Genesis before this one and it was way heavier!! So glad I made the switch.

      @@Mespera3011 201 kg with a full tank. That is very light for a bike. Even the most modern 600s are just 10 kg lighter.

    Let me add myself to the club of those who had this bike when new and are returning to a long lost love! After 33 years without a bike, I rebought one 6 months ago and slowly its regaining its lost glory. Gorgeous job Russ and the video captures that beautiful acceleration and smoothness.

      @@RoadcraftNottingham Going well thanks Russ. Discovered #38 slow jets, not #35, so new #35s going in. That should smooth out the low end response. Time for new fork seals. Maybe then the air pressure in the forks can be upper a little to counter the inevitable spring sag? Body work is good, despite the evidence of epoxy on the underside! Your bike is the goal though, I'd love to get mine up to that standard.

    Absolutely beautiful. I bought the white with red stripes version in 1988. Then later on the Benetton version. I recently picked up a 1988 (white and red) model and its just about to go back on the road. I only did the consmetics though, reprayed wheels, new bearings, forks, new seals etc. Fairing had a lot of cracks which I fibre glassed. Couldn't find anyone to respray it. I did find a company that could supply the correct colour in spray cans. Not cheap but worked very well. Bought new decals etc. Mine looks good from a few feet away - yours is a show bike - well done. Next year I might do a complete strip down and re-build. I have a Triumph 675 Street Triple R for riding around on, so no rush.

    The aesthetics appear more refreshed, new, and taken care of than a brand new model. Have a 1998 CBR600F3 and Simple Green corroded the carburetors and I ruined the inside of the tank with a KBS coatings liner not curing all the way before pouring petrol. On the second round of carburetors and petrol tank now. Yours appears to drive like a dream.

    • @RoadcraftNottingham

    very cool, i have 3 of these and i'm about to do the same to 2 of them (1 is going to be a donor due to being a bit past saving following a slight crash). my first proper bike due to being A2 legal (only just) and i'm absolutely in love with it, dont think many newer bikes tick all the same boxes for me.
    A little hard to find certain parts, but i'm going to do my best as i feel they've earned it, have given me over 14,000 miles of riding this year with minimal maintainance. the one i crashed had 78k miles and still ran really well somehow!
    would you mind telling me how much a respray like that would cost? it looks absolutely stunning, and I'm not too far from Nottingham.
    lastly, if you do upgrades from A2 licence perhaps i should come and do mine with you, seems i'd learn alot :)

    • @RoadcraftNottingham
      @RoadcraftNottingham  5 місяців тому

      The respray would run at about 1400 unfortunately, dream machine did it.

    I just had a ride on my '98 F3. The engine and gearbox are the smoothest thing I have ridden this side of a Striple 765 and the only thing it needed at 20k was the reg/rec from a gixxer. It now has 60k and is as sweet as a nut. I would like a new rear shock. It's on it's second stock exhaust. It does it all. Pyrenees, Ireland, Wales, Bedford Autodrome track day. I would never sell it. Yours looks a damn sight better than mine but then mine didn't get a full restore - which speaks volumes for Honda build quality. She will get the full monty one of these days. Until then, she pulls like a train (especially above 7k) and she gets the best care I can lavish. Cheers ! PS - Nice to see you giving it some wrist and doing some beautifully timed overtakes. That's the way it should be done.

    Fantastic looking and handling bike. 👏After completing a 5 day bike course in 89 the first thing I did was buy the exact same bike and then taught myself how to ride 😄 Luckily its a very forgiving bike but eventually after a couple of years I moved onto the EXUP FZR 1000 followed by a couple of ZXR 750's (My favourite bike) then BMW S1000RR/GSA1200/GSA1250 but finding these a little uninspiring on my daily 100 mile commute I am currently riding a BMW K1300S Motorsport which is a lovely compromise of old style with new technology. Still learning every day but that's half the fun. 🙏
