Good video. I’m using a 2012 MBP to capture DV tapes for archiving. That older software and hardware just works better for that task.

I got myself a 2010 MacBook Pro like half a year ago. Pretty nice, but it was config with core 2 duo and 4 gigs of ram. And being honest, it was challenging to use it for anything. So I sold it. But I believe that newer macs like 2014 with better specs are much better

could be ranboo’s secret brother O_O, nah it’s just that i’m also not a fan of how i look as well. i got a comment yesterday on this video specifically telling me to take off the mask, and they instantly deleted it.

Although I don't dislike Macs I like how Windows lets you avoid the practice of making older devices obsolete in update compatibility.

There's no point trying to run unsupported OSes, or upgrades that can break due to not be official. The right way to reuse these machines is to run something like Debian Linux with XFce, or Linux Mint as long as your Mac cpu scores more than 1000 points on the Passmark benchmark test (search for model online). XFce can run very easily above 500 points, and LXQT/LXDE can do so at 250 points and above). So as long as you have 4 GB of RAM, you're good to go (XFce uses 700 MB, very lean compared to MacOSX. LXQT/DE use ~500 MB, and Mint 900 MB). Minimum installation size is 16GB for Debian, 32GB for Mint (so you could still keep your OSX partition). You'll only need an ethernet cable (or ethernet-to-usb, or usb-otg from your phone) during installation in order to install the unsupported wifi drivers from the internet (the drivers for linux exist, but they are not included by default due to copyright issues).
