    IN THIS VIDEO: Stan and Rhonda from Over The Hill Adventures make their final stop before making it to their son's in Columbus, Ohio for Grandparent's Day. They reach Mammoth Cave National Park and stay at the primitive campground, Mammoth Cave Campground, in site 77, loop C. They are greeted the next morning by a surprise dusting of snow.
    Despite the cold temperatures, Stan and Rhonda continue with their plans to take the Historic Tour at Mammoth Cave. Later the same day they take a 10 mile bike ride on the historic Mammoth Cave Hike and Bike Trail. This is an abandoned railway that brought tourists to the park from 1886 to 1931and was converted to a hike and bike trail in 2004.
    Come with Stan and Rhonda as they explore the longest cave system in the world at Mammoth Cave National Park!

      Ray, thank you for having our 6. Rhonda and I appreciate you. We try to uphold a positive atmosphere on our channel. We can honestly say this is the first time we actually received this type of comment. It is hilarious to us a person can say such hurtful things and then say in the same breath I’m trying to help you. My son said it best, “if you continue to feed a troll you will continue to see the troll.” To be self absorbed in outside appearances and be so ugly on the inside. I’m glad you appreciate our adventures and so happy you take the time to come along with us. Thank you!! Blessings, Stan and Rhonda

    Happy 60th Stan! Thanks for the informative video - I have never seen a inverter hookup with propane - I thought they were all gasoline-based! My wife and I always bring our bikes with our RV as well, but I found your comments regarding e-bikes interesting. Bikes change the entire camping experience as you can explore so much more, but as you state, ebikes would bring that to another level...something to think about! Blessings and good health to you both!

      Hello Jerry, thank you for your comment. It truly helps when we can communicate on this platform for the RV community. The inverter is dual fuel, gas and propane. Check out our video on the Champion dual fuel inverter. Solar is just not cost effective for us.
      You are so right about bikes. It changes everything. We took our bikes in the back country of Yellowstone, we were all by ourselves in Yellowstone. The kicker is we were about a mile from millions of people. Rode our bikes right by a herd of bison 🦬. We are currently looking at EMountain Bikes. They have to be a Class 1 pedal assist and can not go faster than 20mph. These bikes are allowed in all National Parks, State Parks, and Rails to Trails. They are not cheap but we are going all in. Thank you for the birthday wishes I do not feel 60!! It is crazy even to say it. We are not guaranteed tomorrow. So we must live each day like there is no tomorrow. Thanks for being a part of our adventure. Blessing to you too! Till the next time, Stan and Rhonda

Thank you for all you have sacrificed for the rest of us. On another topic I think we are the only people in our current campground that do not have electric bikes. We laugh (or cry) as we are huffing and puffing up steep hills as they happily go by us on the electric bikes. Again - safe travels to you both.

    So i have a question about your generator. Do you think a smaller one, say a 2500 or 3400 watt model would be sufficient to power your trailer? Your trailer isn't really that big, i would be curious if a smaller one work? Just curious. Not judging, i love your videos. Keep them coming and i will keep on watching. Safe travels to you both.

    • @OverTheHillAdventures
      @OverTheHillAdventures  2 роки тому

      Steve, the reason why I got this big inverter was for the air conditioner. If I had a soft start I could go with a smaller inverter. We could go with two 2,000 watt in tandem. That would work great too!! Great question!! Blessings, Stan and Rhonda

  • @jesserevilla992

    Love this segment; but some questions. Did the Camp site at Mammoth Cave have a dump station and water perhaps close to the dump station? We were at Mammoth Cave in 2019 no RV yet. You were about an hour away from the Corvette museum. Well as for the Gen really nice; Great advise on two smaller units that can run parral.
    Now i use our Gen only if i need A/C. In your case you needed enough energy for Refrigerator, heating lighting TV etc or i believe to recharge batteries? I use a would Battery Generator that would work for two days straight. Yes pricey $1200 but light and silent. You can simply disconnect and take Battery Gen with you in the truck as you drive around to see places & things while it's getting charged. Now my standard solar panel of 165 watts that came with our 2022 GD 22mle can take care of it as well but this depends where i'm at and sun and trees shade? But i still carry depending on the excursion our 2200 Gas powered gen. Which can run our A/C 15k Btu with a soft-start I installed. Like how simple you keep your vids.

    • @OverTheHillAdventures

      Hi Jesse, yes they have a dump station by the camp store. Water is located there too. It was very convenient. During the whole trip I only used the generator maybe five hours. It was nice to have the security of the Yellow Beast Inverter there when ever we needed. We were planning to do more boondocking. The Yellow Beast has no problem running everything and doesn’t need a soft start. Super happy with especially running on propane no mess. Blessings, Stan and Rhonda

    How much propane was used, and did you just use it over night or during the day? I have a Champion 4300 on wheels. I have a ramp for the back of the truck that I use to pull it up. it's almost 100 lbs. and I haven't used it. I have solar for daytime if sunny, but I would need a generator for overnight to maintain the batteries. I have 3 lithium 100-amp hours each. I like the milk crate for the propane tank. Let me know more about your experiences with the generator. What time of year did you go on this trip?

    • @OverTheHillAdventures
      @OverTheHillAdventures  2 роки тому

      Hi James, it really sounds like you have a great set up. I only used about two gallons of propane. I only ran the generator to charge the battery. Most places won’t let you run your generator at night. According to the manual I should be able to run 22 hours straight on a tank of gas and thirteen hour on a 20lbs propane bottle. Can you run your air conditioner on your solar panels? Great to hear from you James. Blessings, Stan and Rhonda P.S. Are you going to sign up for the Quartzsite rally?
