I guess the AI in these games is not enough to understand to use the castle to protect your flanks and use the natural choke points. The Romans just expand outward till the line collapses.
Love your videos but this one doesn’t sit well with me. When the Romans routed the heavy swordsman, you should have made sure they went around outside of castle to help their comrades with the Spartans. It would have made more sense then have them aid in the fight with the ogres.

Unfortunately the game doesnt have the brightest AI around.

Kill ratios were about 3-1 at the end so another 8,000 Roman Generals and there may have been a different result.
