Hi, a circular saw will not cut a concrete slab. A circular saw is used for cutting timber, whereas an angle grinder cuts metal, stone, and concrete. Help that helps!
Thanks mate...I thought I'd need to spend hundreds on a big stihl cutter....when all the time I could buy a 9 inch grinder for less than a hundred quid 😊😊
Hi Eddie, thanks for your comment. It is a Dewalt 9inch angle grinder model no. DWE490-GB. Its available in screwfix item no. 3708J for £99.99. Hope that helps
@@FixitwithFowler Sorry, one more question if I want to cut concrete slabs with a very smooth finish, which blade would be the most effective to purchase?
The grinder was throwing the dust from right to left in the video, and the wind was blowing it the other way left to right, there would have been a lot less dust around you if you had positioned the slab the other way round so that the grinder was throwing the dust in the same direction as the wind, otherwise great video.
Excellent, thanks Steve. Cleaner with the clamps.
This is my go-to method for cutting slabs, perfect results every time. Thanks for your comment!
Yeaaa i had success mate...that was a great tip clamping a piece of wood to follow that line...it was harder to cut thru than i imagined 😊
Im glad the video helped you. Sone slabs are harder to cut than others, and it just depends on what they are made from!
@FixitwithFowler these were limestone...only lost one finger and half a leg 🤣🤣🤣
@davegill7614 lol, not too bad then!
Another simple to follow vodeo, good idea using timber to cut along for a straight edge!
Thanks for your comment!
Great video. Easier than I thought it would be. Defo a DIY job after watching video.
Yeah, it's really easy if you use some timber as a guide! Thanks for your comment 👍
looks easy because he's good at it...hehe
dont underestimate these things
@decespugliatorenucleare3780 thanks for your comment 👍
Great video. Very good tips and excellent reference to the PPE!! Well done!
Cheers for your comment 👍
thanks Steve. good advice about using clamps.
Simple but useful, helps you cut the slab in a perfect straight line!
Good video, easy to follow and a good idea to check with the neighbours!
I thought it was worth mentioning as the grinder creates loads of dust!
Great video. Would I get the same result by using a circular saw? Whats the difference between using the angle grinder or the circular? Thanks.

You can use a circular saw but you need a concrete cutting blade which are very expensive. Angle grinder blades are cheaper
Just what I needed
Thanks for the link
No problem, hope it's helpful!
@@FixitwithFowler it was !
@peterkenworthy9219 cheers 🍻
Genius idea 💡
Glad you think so!
What is the minimum power for grinder to do slab cutting? Thanks
You can get away with a 4 inch grinder, but i would recommend a 9-inch grinder as you can cut through the slab in one go!
Many thanks.@@FixitwithFowler
Thanks very much!
You're welcome! I'm glad you found the video helpful!

Definitely only need a 9-inch grinder. I have had mine for about 20 years, and it's still going strong.
No water?
No this is a standard 9inch grinder, so it doesn't have a water attachment!
@@FixitwithFowler OK thanks.
Great video. Could you share the name and model of the concrete cutting machine in this video, please? Thanks.

@@FixitwithFowler Perfect. Thank you.
No problem!

I use a standard diamond blade and find it gives a good clean cut!
