      Which means Adobo has no Identity, no character, no standards. So why glorify something that has no culture? Ignorance. Recently some Filipinos in America is promoting Adobo with Condensed milk and other Filipinos supported the joke. Adobo with condensed milk is a product of the logic that Adobo can be anything and everything.

      @eduardochavacano 3 роки тому

      Sisig is not a traditional Filipino Food. Which is why there are 700 variants, anything minced and served on a sizzling plate imported from China is called sisig. To make things more exotic to the gullible Foreign vlogger, they put something that 99% of Filipinos dont eat, RAW EGGS. Nobody eats raw eggs, that makes sisig exotic to Filipinos, who only order this joke when they are in some Beer Garden! They sell this food because it cheap to make and the Revenues are so high. Now this lie is peddled by Vloggers who live to exploit the Filipino masses.

    • @eduardochavacano
      @eduardochavacano 3 роки тому

      Lei Olaviaga sisig is a Lie! 99.78% of Filipinos dont eat raw eggs or care to eat meat from a pig’s face.

    • @fiossi
      @fiossi 3 роки тому

      @@eduardochavacano The raw egg gets cooked by the sizzling plate. You're supposed to let it sit for a bit, and mix the sisig around; and as a filipino, pig face/cheek is used a lot in cooking for us here. If they wanted something exotic, I'd recommend Tamilok, which are woodworms, eat them with vinegar.

    Time difference that I watched late. I’m a Filipina in France. We have a variety of culinaires. Each regions has its own flavorful, tasty specialty so we don’t consider adobo as National food except in Luzon. In Cebu ( Central Visayas) where I come is noted for the lechon ( inasal in cebuano term, ) all over the world Chef Bourdin had said. We have our own pre colonial culinary ( natives from different ethnic groups) then mixed with Spanish, Chinese, Indian, American, Japanese Korean etc, neighboring Asian countries. That’s how the country a multi cultural adapted our ways in the kitchen. Mexicans has been with us for 250 years during the Spanish era through the Galleon trade. I enjoyed watching. Thank you. 👍

    Rice is present everytime we eat a meal. A staple food if you may. There are some alternative for rice in every different household such as corn and cassava.
    Noodles are considered "side dish" like pancit, etc.
    Adobo is typically a name for how to prepare & cook usually meat but can be incorporated with other stuff as well. Like seasoning for bbqs, and mixed fried rice.
    To make understand better it's like this: Do you eat fried? Like what fried? Fried chicken, fish, pork?

    Filipino dishes are usually savoury so it's meant to be eaten with rice.😁
    We usually have chicken or pork Adobo and there's also different cooking styles. The one you're having has sauce. There's also the dry variety. It's not really the national dish. It's more like the easily accepted and liked food by foreigners. Kinda like foreigner friendly type of food. 😁😆😁😆
    The Pancit usually composed of rice or egg noodles, carrots, onions, garlic, cabbage, chicken meat and liver. We usually squeeze some calamansi (Philippine lemon) on it. But there's also different kinds so some ingredients may be different.
    Mixing food? When you're in a buffet or party, the food usually gets mixed up in your plate anyway. In the Philippines, nobody would mind how you mix your food as long as you enjoy it. They might think you're a bit weird though. Whatever tickles your fancy. 😆😅😆😅

      Well, according to the earliest records, the spanish said that they saw the locals cook what appears to be food marinated in vinegar, then cooked, they named it adobo from the spanish word "adobar", which is essentially to marinade.... So while the spanish named it, it was already being cooked long before the spanish came.... this was before they added soy sauce to the ancient adobo recipe bringing adobo to the modern times.

    When our daughter was in a small University in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas she would go down to the kitchen in the dorm basement to make herself pork or chicken adobo when she got home sick. The wonderful odor of cooking adobo would wind its way through all three stories of the dorm and by the time the dish was finished cooking she would have a crowd in the kitchen wanting to know what that delicious smell was. She turned a lot of her white Southern classmates into dedicated adobo enthusiasts the two years she was in the dorm.

    My go-to Pinoy food to cook is Chicken Adobo. I use dark meat: legs and thighs. Simple and easy to cook, basic recipes includes lots of garlic (crushed) for me, (and onions, if you want to, but that's my mom's recipe, she likes onions in her chicken adobo, but I learned to like it, so I've been putting onions on my adobo now. Slice the onions.) Other ingredients are vinegar (I use apple cider vinegar, sometimes I even use Bragg's vinegar "with the mother." Other ingredients, you need: soy sauce (I use Kikkoman), ground pepper (sometimes, I throw in around 10 whole peppercorn in there), a couple of bay leaves, 3 or 4 leaves. When all of this, the chicken and the ingredients are in the pot proceed to cook. I start with medium heat, and around 30 mins reduce fire/heat (I have a gas stove), for for 45 mins or so, to an hour. One hour of cooking of chicken adobo though to me is a little bit much, they come out dry, so I would time it for 45 to 50 mins. And there you go! I like my adobo wet or saucy (not dry), so I could use the sauce that it cooked with to add to my rice and the chicken adobo, and that's pretty much my yummy experience with chicken adobo all my entire life existence. Love it, I could never get enough chicken adobo. And if Chicken Adobo is the Filipino national dish, there will be no doubt I would put it up there 1000 percent! No question! Mabuhay!!! 😎😉 😀

    Pinoys eat with a spoon and a fork. No knife. We use the fork as a knife since Filipino dishes are normally soft and tender. If its hard we use our hands...
    We also eat everything with rice. Also some our traditional desserts are rice.

    Adobo is original a spanish term means to marinade. But during the spanish era ice boxes are limited only to the spaniards households. So Filipinos needs a way how to preserve their food but boiling the chicken along with it's marinade(garlic, ginger, onion, soy sauce, vinegar, salt, pepper corn, laurel/bay leaves, and sugar) until it's fried in it's own marinade to perfection, thus how the Adobo dish came to be. As time goes by Filipinos from around the country had found ways to experiment the dish enhancing it's flavor more.

    Fish balls, squid balls, and chicken balls are all made of flour mixed with shredded meat of the particular variety it's called after. Fry them then dip them in vinegar or sweet sauce with chili.

    Our ancestors doing adobo way back more from the pre-colonial period, they just doing it with vinegar and some spices but when the Chinese came in, they added the soy sauce into it. Then perhaps Spaniards tasted it and they called it "ADOBO" from Spanish word, "adobar".

    You use the fork to place food grains onto the spoon. Also use the fork to spear the meat chunks and the edge of the spoon to slice the big chunks into smaller chunks. Forks are used for eating noodles.

    Definitely a twist with how “adobo” is cooked here. The original adobo doesn’t have potatoes in it. ❤️Enjoy!!! Adobo’s main ingredients are (vinegar/lemon/lime and soy sauce with sliced onions and garlic)

    Adobo is the unofficial national dish of the Philippines. The word adobo is derived from the Spanish word adobar, which means “marinade” or “pickling sauce.” The existence of the tangy dish was first recorded in 1613 by the Spaniard Pedro de San Buenaventura. He listed the tart viand as “adobo de los naturales” for its similarity to Spanish and Mexican dishes that went by the same name.

  • @emmanuelvasquez3005
    @emmanuelvasquez3005 3 роки тому

    The dish itself chicken and rice is the main dish. If you get a salad or maybe a pickled papaya, that is considered as a side dish. And adobo is a spanish influenced dish.

    Adobo is one of the most popular FILIPINO DISHES and is considered UNOFFICIALLY by many as the NATIONAL DISH. It usually consists of PORK or CHICKEN, sometimes both, stewed or braised in a sauce usually made from vinegar, cooking oil, garlic, bay leaf, peppercorns, and soy sauce.

    There are so called, so many culinary tastes . When Filipinos, cook food we take 1-3 taste flavors and make them aweseome and distinct.
    Adobo is 4 tastees, sweet, sour, umami and salt. If the flavor did not match what you ate means the resto didn't do it justice.
