Before or after the the chain replacement? The bike had not been ridden properly or maintained for about 3 months, chain seized, pads rusted to the discs and I realised the wheel bearings need replacing. I ride it hard off road in the Welsh summer months so it’s no surprise
Hi Dan, I've just done the same, question ? 5:30 Did you grease the link pins and X rings on installation ? It was not shown in the video, it's a very important step as the grease in the little blister pack with the link needs to be used.
hi dan i think you need to put some mitchelin ankee wilds on. very good on road and off road . i had them on my tiger 800xcx and got them on my raid. if you are up for it come and have a ride out with me. you must be near bye the trails you ride.
I’ve got my trail tyres back on now. Done them the day after this video. And took the pannier racks off. Got another set of Metzeler karoo 4’s as they done me well last year but I definitely want to try the Michelins! Would definitely be up for a ride out. Yeah we must be pretty near each other or atleast ride the same trails
I do clean it after every ride with a jetwash, just no point making it showroom shiny when I ride 90% off-road. Once a month it gets a solid clean though. It hadn’t been ridden for 4 months over the winter and my garage is really damp, so it’s pretty unavoidable to get rust on the chain
I’m on about 8000 miles. I unfortunately didn’t ride it for a few months over the winter and didn’t keep up with the maintenance so the salt on the roads absolutely killed the chain while it was stationary over winter 😞
Nice video Dan! Just curious why didn't you tighten the chain adjuster lock nut? -- ua-cam.com/video/K-iXHwg6BlQ/v-deo.html. Also when you rolled it away I heard the wheels squeal. Mine does that too. Do you know any way to fix it? I tried brake cleaner on the brakes pads which helps but after one ride the squealing is back!!!
Well, the morning after I filmed this, I took the wheels off and got the tyres changed over for summer off road ones. To be honest, I just had to put the wheel back on for video continuity 😂 The only thing I can think of is that the wheel bearings are on the way out. When I took the wheels to the shop for tyres, the guy noticed that the spacers have worn out on one side, which means the bearings are loose. (wish I could post a photo on here so you could see what I mean) The noise could also be to do with the fact that I didn’t ride the bike for 3 months before the new chain 😐 ashamed of myself for the lack of maintenance
@@jurodelco do you mean the old chain? I cut the rivets because I didn’t want the blade of the grinder to catch during the cutting of the link and damage the swinging arm. 👍🏻 better to take 5 mins more than having to buy a new swinging arm 💵
new chain new sprockets ☝️
Sprockets next 🫡
@@advdandespués? Se cambian a la vez todo el conjunto
Thanks for showing me how to replace the chain. I need to do this on my Tiger soon. Your videos are good, hope you make more.
@@Mwaves7857 No problem at all. Thanks for the great feedback! I have one coming soon 🫡
Great job, mate!
Great video thanks. You made it look easy...but...even I might try to do this myself. Thanks mate!
YIKES, there is a lot of drag on that rear wheel!!

@@advdan Yeah before but it all makes sense now! No worries either, ride it like you stole it!
i see you have that rusty quick shifter too :P.
And the rusty Stainless steel bracket for the front brake reservoir.... :(
@@advdan any remedies for it
@@advdan some one told me to paint the thing
@@adityahandu1008 yeah I would suggest cleaning it with wire wool first and then painting it 👍🏻

The bike is filthy, do you not clean it?? The state of the old chain says it all😢😢

How many miles on the old chain?
What mileage are you at for a chain replacement?

Para que quitar los remaches? Corta la cadena, más fácil. Esa cadena ya no sirve.

New chain old sprockets, o dear o dear
It’s not essential to change the sprockets if they aren’t worn out.
