Happy to report the current (Jan '24) Konstakang Android build is solid & worked first time on my Pi5. Where the Dec '23 never got past the "Android" boot screen, no matter what I did with the display config.
Just found a solution for the constant reboot issue. I was using a pi4 power supply on my pi5 with android and had the constant reboot issue at start up screen. My new pi5 psu just arrived and this has solved the problem. Android now boots up fully
i look forward to video reviewing android tv when its released, i reckon this pi5 and orange pi will definitely give nvidia shield a run for its money. i see these sbc board being great in getting away from bloatware or firesticks and other cheap chinese android knock off boxes. thanks for great videos about these boards keep them coming.
Using the app found in apkpure I am unable to use the ID provided for enabling google services? When the ID is typed in the box it shakes red as if to say the number is invalid.

@@virtualclasses8898 It's only about 1.5 times as powerful. It has the same large cores (4 A76) and an additional 4 small cores (A53). The GPU will be comparable once the Raspberry Pi 5 catches up on drivers. Also, the Raspberry Pi 5 can be overclocked. AFAIK nobody has had success getting the Orange Pi 5 to overclock to 3 Ghz.
For the love of God tell me you made that thing work without a Windows machine. I'm so close to just chucking this junk in the street, so fed up with every single option beginning with "put the card in Windows and flash it" while I sit here not owning an actual PC.
Somehow, and I don't even know the steps I took in detail, I have DD'd Armbian to an nvme drive and gotten that working but now it won't boot from SD card. So even if I accidentally get the card right, I'll never know. Tried the maskROM button, don't know what that does because I don't get a display when I do that.

Worth mentioning since you had talked about some displays causing issues: I bought a $100 10.1" 1024x600 touchscreen off Amazon (seemed like a great idea since it had mounting points and right-sized cables designed for raspberry pi) and for whatever reason Android is limited to 30fps on that screen, making everything feel really janky. I borrowed a 15" 1080p touchscreen from work and the experience is much better, more along the lines of what you've shown here. So if you're trying this and your first display doesn't seem to perform very smoothly, try with another. Make sure you set the resolution right in /boot/resolution.txt
Lemorele hub is what I plug everything into, mine didn't want to use it's own HDMI port at first but I have that USB C hub with a port and that took away my stuttering. I've made changes since (not really sure what 😅) but both ports work the same now.
Mesa 23.3 does not "require" a 6.8 kernel, you need to be slightly clearer on your communications. Mesa 23.3 brings in OpenGL 6.4 and Vulkan 1.3 support but those features being usable might depend on certain kernel driver versions too. WIth that said, Mesa brings in its own drivers too anyway, so it's not just about the kernel - it also depends entirely on what driver and GPU is being used.
It has to be said that this is impressive and the fats pace of development for the Pi 5 is surprising compared to what we saw with the Pi 4. When the Pi 6 comes out next year, things will hopefully be eve better with hardware to meet or exceed the competition.

So there's not enough pixels for you in standard HD then? Are you projecting onto the side of a building or the underside of a dome over your head or something? Do you work as a cinema projectionist? Because if the answer is "no" to either of those questions, then you're just throwing money away on the 4K gimmick - exactly what you were expected to do with 3DTV, and look what happened to that.

android 14 on pi5 does not suport the offical 7" display, just boot loops the android logo. any info on this?

We should get newer OpenGL support (and faster Vulkan) when Mesa 23.3 is released. Mesa 23.3 also requires the 6.8 Linux kernel though.
