Cycle touring has definitely rebuilt my faith in humanity. I’ve met a ton of just kind and genuine people. Being out here on the road is the real world.
You must have a super kind heart too Quadzilla. People love you and seems bears do too lol!
And I absolutely LOVE your adventurous spirit and appreciation for nature. You are SO much fun to watch! And inspiring to boot! ❤🙏🏻
Jack, this was your best video of the 2024 AT so far. Very touching and easy to feel the passion! New Jersey is my home state.
The dialogue with Foghat is the best talk I have seen How the trail is the great equalizer.
"thru-hiking restores your faith in humanity" 1000% true
Really nice installment Jack. Thanks
Thanks for bike touring insight. One of my favorite episodes so far.
Foghorn has such a beautiful heart. I loved that conversation :)
Great video Quad, loving the music and the format.
Loved this one!
Cool video. So true, the trail and the people are awesome.
Super chill episode Jack
Man Foghat is such a legend. I teared up.
Love the convos! Thanks for doing what you're doing!
Excellent video work!
Lol in the last video when that lady was excited to leave PA I thought the same thing. The rocks don’t go anywhere 😂
Happy Trails
Continue to enjoy your videos. Must say though, bicycle touring changed my life in similar ways you, and others in your videos and comments, describe how hiking has changed theirs.
I was on the AT at Lehigh Gap yesterday and thought I encountered a bear near the Lehigh Gap Nature Center. I stood on the Woodpecker Trail for a while waiting for it to move. It didn't. That's because it was a stump! LOL! I talked to a ridge runner on near Little Gap(Blue Mt. Road) who told me she was very busy dismantling fire pits because too many people attempt to burn their garbage but it doesn't burn completely which of course the bear can smell for miles. Thanks for taking us along! Have a great walk in the woods.
You’re not likely to see many bears right there yet. In spring A homeless guy was putting fishhooks in dog treats and was spreading them for the bears to eat. Then the game wardens found out and law enforcement took all his stuff out of the shelter.
@@RCshowmen Yeah, I saw the reports about that guy. It's funny, I had just talked to a couple hiking and told them at that time of day this time of year it wasn't very likely they would see a bear. In my head I knew it probably wasn't a bear, but the way the stump caught my eye through foliage just caught me off guard for a few minutes! LOL!
I’m a Pennsylvania native. I hope to hike the Appalachian Trail, someday.
@23:00 NJ also has a lot more swamps than other states on the trail a whole giant section of NJ is called the "meadow lands" which is all swamp.
I don't think there would be a more challenging trail like New Zealand.... but with the experience you have.. challenge may require something very different... blessings and safe trails.. following along with you😊❤
You got that snake to move into a coil where he is twice as dangerous. Those were probably ground hornets. They actually make their nest underground. I hate coming up to them because you can hardly ever get away without getting stung a few times.
Hey, did you know that mama bears will often hang around roads because male bears avoid people, so people actually provide cubs some protection from male bears? Very smart!
This ma is amazing 👏 this his third Thurs hike of the appalachian trail, I saw him Glasgow Virginia, but I didn't want to bother him. He truly great 🚶♀️ 🚶♂️ hiker when they bui a hall of fame for hikers, he will be one of the first.
The Cocoon silk mummy liners are really nice. Many , many , many years ago I got a red one and then later a white one. They warm me on a cool morning and cool me on a warm Florida night. Don't ask , can be real or physiological , all I know is , that's how they work for me.
I absolutely despise wasps! For years, they lived in the outside wall of my house, near my bathroom window. My ex husband had the attic windows open, and wasps were coming in. So I closed the windows. One day, I had a sudden, extreme itch on my chest. So I scratched it by reflex, and got stung by the wasp that I didn’t know was causing it. So, of course I found the attic door, which was in my baby’s room, open, and all the attic windows were reopened….🤦🏼♀️ He should probably drop to his knees to express gratitude for it being me that got stung, and not our baby….. But, eventually the wasps burrowed through the insulation, and started coming in through a huge hole in the downstairs bathroom wall, where a window used to be(Back when that was a back porch). My parents own the house, and my father never wanted to close that hole up. He would just spray wasp poison in the hole under the upstairs bathroom window, driving more wasps into the house.🤦🏼♀️💩 Thankfully, eventually the wasps abandoned the nest. But, if I only had a dollar for every wasp that I had to kill, after sending my daughters to their rooms, with their doors shut! Most of them hung out in the kitchen, or in the downstairs bathroom. I never got stung while going after a wasp. And that wasp that stung me, after those stupid windows were opened back up, quickly met it’s maker! Mwahaha……
You are awesome man
AT trail dreamer....
But i have through hiked the Foot Hills trail several times in NC SC 76 mile trail & love it.
👍🐿👍
Doing the Foot Hills next month. Any advice?
@Holyblayze enjoy it because when you're done..... you'll wanna be back on trail again.
I hike till I feel tired... plan ahead to the next camp site..... can I make it there around .5hr or 1hr b4 dark then go from there .... don't over think don't over plan
... relax hyoh.... and embrace being away from the daily grind. I've gone both ways and did a5day food cary.... didn't bother stashing food. I repacked dehydrated meals into size appropriate Freezer Ziplocbags to save space.(1qt bags) Boiling water will not ruin them. I then place the meal into a homemade cozee to soak. I just use a sharpie to write how much boiling water I need to add to the bag. .. left foot right foot. .......❤️❤️❤️❤️
👍🐿👍
Imo those above thoughts are my opinions and should be viewed as such. Stay safe.
👍🐿👍

Nature is the way.
DOING A GREAT JOB GREAT JOB MY FRIEND
Team Dr. Pepper! I might have one soda a year tough. Loved the talk with Foghat.
go go quadzillaaaahh!
Nice pre dinner conversation.
Bro you should experience the sobo life next time, it's incredible
Great content... music kinda kills the vibe at times with nature and hikers providing all the sound the video needs. :)
Omg the game of thrones reference made me realize you’ve been out there all summer and probably haven’t even seen House of the Dragon season 2 yet. Really roughin’ it 😂
what're you doing for food safety? I didn't see anything about it on the blog, just curious!
👍🐿👍i love the videos brother.
Are those Lone Peak 8s you are wearing? How are they?
Thanks Jack! 👊🏻👍🏻 Hope you're doing well my friends 🤞🏻🐻👀 God Bless 🙏🏻 Appreciate you always 🫶🏻
A lot of the bear population was relocated to the Pine Barrens in South Jersey so its nice to see the population on the rise again, however not crazy about the nuisance bears that learned hikers have food bags. They're really bad in NY. Be safe out there Jack.
Rattlesnake Swamp Trail?!?! Big nope for me!! Do we need to carry garlic on that section? 😂
What video editing software do you use?
Dang you ran into a lot of danger!
I showed your moose knuckle to my girlfriend around 11 minutes in. Wasn’t impressed but I guess the quads dwarf everything.
I'll take a swarm of wasps anytime before a charging bear. 5-6 Bee stings don't bother me and I can roll naked in poison ivy with no ill effects, but bears scare the sh*t out of me!
What happened to Pyro? Maybe you told us he left but I don't remember.
Twenty-five miles…super easy…I wish
I’ve never understood trying to provoke a rattlesnake off trail. They always coil up and defensive mode when provoked 🤔
Has anyone yo yo yo'ed the AT, 3 full trips in a year?
6k miles or 13k miles? i think of a yo-yo as being up and back (or down and back or flip flop and flop flip)
@joelbrown3935 I was think a nobo,sobo,and a flip flop at harpers ferry ,2190ish 3x,
@@matthewthalhamer2825 could be a year well spent
